View Full Version : A few quick questions about RAF boosting :)

So I've been thinking about starting a new class or two but I just can't stand doing 1-60 the "good old way". So I thought about using RAF to get them up to 60. But I haven't used RAF or ran more than one client before so I just wanted to make sure I got all the facts right :)

I have one account at the moment and I'll be buying 2 vanilla keys. The level 80 druid on my main account will boost them like this:

1-8 Questing
8-16 RFC
16-22 WC
22-40 SM
40-46 ZF
46-60 Strat
(Posted by TeK23 in another thread)

But I'm a bit unclear about how the accounts should be created. I assume it should work like this:

1) Send out RAF invite from my main to myself (the same email should work?)
2) Create a new account using this email and apply vanilla key #1
3) Send out a new RAF invite using the new account to myself (same email)
4) Create the second account and apply vanilla key #2

Is that about right? :)

As for the boosting part itself. Whats the best way to keep the RAFs close enough to get xp? Or should I just try to pull everything back to the entrance? I did try running ZF with my druid just now (will ne using feral to boost btw) and I could pull them pretty well in bear form, not sure if I could pull them all though without getting killed

I will then send these chars to my main account, which I assume will work as long as all accounts have the same owner (All accounts just need to have the same "last name"?)

Well for the RAF accounts you have 2 options:

Cheap method:

2 Existing accounts needed:
Account a sends to yourself new account #1 and new account #2.
Account b sends to yourself new account #3.

With sending accounts i mean: getting the trial key for a new account.

This way Account a is linked with new #1 and new #2.
Account b is linked with new #3.

So you actually have 2 raf groups in an ingame group of 5. One RAF group exists out of 3 characters and the second group exists out of 2 characters.

Pros: You dont have to buy 5 accounts but 3.
Cons: You cant grant levels to everyone or boost them all. Because if you boost with account a (your main account with your high levels) your 2 new accounts that are linked with account a don't have raf exp.

Second option:

Existing account a:
Recruit yourself and make new account b.
Account b recruit yourself and create account c.
Account c recruits yourself and create account d.
Account d recruits yourself and create account e.

This way b is linked with c, c is linked with d, d is linked with e. And you will have experience RAF if you leave one out.
This way is handy because you can: Boost 4 characters to level 45. Level 2 characters to 60, grant the 2 level 45s to 60, grant the 2x 30 levels to account a, and you have 5 characters on 60.
EDIT: You cant do that because you then have your booster linked with your other accounts, and you wont get experience. Search the forum for: way of boosting. Some guy had a method for it.
EDIT 2: Found it! http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=199182&highlight=method+raf+boost#post199182

Pros: Everyone has raf exp and can grant if he leaves one out.
Cons: More money, if you want to boost you cant use your main account where you 1boxed with so you have to pay 5 instead of 4 new accounts.

Hope this helped,

Totem

Btw i did the cheap method, and i was never able to boost myself or do the method in the topic up here. I'd definately go for the method in the topic. Its worth it in the long end. You have to spend money for new accounts anyways, so you better do it right. (imo)

Thanks for your reply Negativ1337 :)
But I'm really looking to only open 2 accounts. I would only start one new account but seeing as I need to log in my main to boost I'll have to get two new ones. The goal is to get 2 or more characters to level 60, transfer them to my main account, then let the remaining time run out on the 2 new accounts. Not sure how many characters I'll be able to get up to 60 but I'm hoping to get at least 2 :)

Yes, just make sure you use the trial key you get in the email to create the accounts not the vanilla keys. After the accounts are created you can upgrade to retail with your vanilla keys. Some people have put in their retail keys on acct creation and ended up not RAF linked.

I feel its better to quest until level 10 then go to SFK. WC is no where near as good as SFK for boosting. Start SM at level 20 also.

In SFK you move your guys up to the big fence right at the start of the zone. You can gather the whole beginning area and rooms and drag them back to there. Then the rest of the zone can be killed near where they are standing but up a few floors.

SM Cathedral can be done in 1 pull. Sneak to the boss and kill him quick. Hit Whitemane as soon as she comes out til she sleeps you and reses Mograin. Now run all the way back to the start and every single mob in the zone will aggro you. Kill them soon as you get into the hallway and the alts will get a full level in about 3-4 mins.

I hate ZF so I will either stay in SM til 45 or go to ST at 35. In strat you pull about 5-6 groups back toward your alts and drop em. Bring alts up to next area and repeat. Learn where the eye's of naxx roam and its easy.

Not to mention you will get an extra 10 days :) 10 day trial + vanilla key = 40 days before the first 15.00 is due :)

Thanks to everyone for the help :)
One more thing I wanted to ask. If I level 2 characters to level 60, can I then create two more characters on these new accounts (one on each of course) and the 3 x XP will still apply?

You can go with trial accounts, prior to using the vanilla accounts, mainly to test your system performance when running multiple copies of wow.

There isn't a whole lot of point in buying say four battlechests, to eventually five-box (plus your existing account), if your computer cannot handle more then say 2 wow's at once.

What I do in SM with my 80 druid is leave the slaves outside the entrance and then kill the first mob right inside. Otherwise the slaves will aggro the mob as soon as they enter.

Once the first mob is dropped I run the slaves into the instance and leave them there. Pop into cat stealth form and go all the way to the back. You can open the door without aggroing the guys on the sides as long as you open it in the middle

Pop back into stealth form and sneak back and hit the boss and turn tail and run to the hallway in the beginning jumping off the waterfall on the way. When you get to the hallway just duck around the corner. This will force the casters to come up close to ya.

Pop into bear form and swipe them all down when they come around the corner. Have to wait a minute for the woman to show up and res the boss.

This gets about 75% of the mobs in the instance. If you have track humanoids on it looks like a river flowing behind you :)
