For a quick background the group is prot pally, Spriest, resto shaman, destro lock, and ______ hunter that needs a new spec. My hunter was my first and only 60 back in classic wow and I loved every second of it raiding as MM all the way till the last patch before TBC where I fell in love with BM but I haven't really messed with him since the he hit 70 and never riaded past wtih kara with im. So now the tallent trees look alot diffrent and I'm takeing him out of retirment to bless my new group so here I am, any experince or general hunter information would be greatly appreciated.

So far MM looks pretty easy to run with chimera shot looks pretty easy to macro and use efficiently. Survival is nice from what I've but I think the replenishment effect will go wasted with the Spriest around. BM still has the group buff that I'm a fan of but it may be harder to micro manage my pet efficiently.

Survival offers very good DPS along with replenishment. Not so sure how it works out for a multiboxer. I am running a paladin/shaman/3xhunter team at the moment (level 78). One hunter is MM for the group AP buff, two are survival. I know that 3x explosive shot is pretty nasty, but on outdoors mobs the MM hunter stays ahead in total DPS because even without a sting active, Chimera Shot is critting for around 4500, while the mob dies before Explosive Shot can run its course. I've yet to test on elites or bosses (or even target dummies), but will probably try that soon.

I just don't know if you can keep up an optimal rotation with survival in a mixed group, since some of the procs (lock and load, for instance) can require a specific shot selection to improve DPS. MM might be better as part of a rotation that can be spammed and not micro-managed.
