Howdy,

To preface: Ive done my best looking through the EQ2 posts down here, but wanted to take my questions in my own direction vs hijacking somebody elses thread.

I *think* I can wring 3 clients running on my laptop (though I might have to play with lame graphics, but its all good). That said, here is what Im thinking. I was going to spare you all posting about this, but Ive read some things and now im confused.

Tank: Torn between berserker and paladin. I really like the style / AOEness of the berserker, but I like the heals that the paladin has. How do the paladin heals stand up as you continue to level up? I hear their dps is pretty terrible, but again I have no first hand experience. Is the paladin much more hearty than the zerker?

DPS / Support: Dirge. Ive read that this guy is the penultimate melee buffer and can do decent damage on his own, so it seems like a no brainer. However, somebody mentioned running a troub with paladins because of their spell casting, so im not sure if (if i choose paladin as my tank) dirge or troub would be better here.

Heals: Warden. I read they can spec melee and proc heals on their group, thats very cool. Hots also SEEM like theyd be pretty easy to utilize, but who knows in EQ2 this is a different ballgame.

Appreciate any thoughts anybody cares to share. Any glaring weaknesses here? Anything that will be hard to box, etc?

thanks.

I always found the warden to be lacking for ones such as us. Much much happier with the "wards" and pre-emptive heals of a defiler or an inquisitor.

Now of course that's going to affect whatever synergy you were hoping for with the berserker.

I have a friend who is in a duo of berserker/fury and they seem to work out just fine, though. But for me, as a former warden soloist, then sk/warden/warlock/templar quartet, and now sk/brigand/dirge/defiler/warlock/inquisitor sextet, I'd have to say: HoTs aren't where it's at in EQ2 (for us Multibox types). But your idea to add a dirge or troubadour to the mix is great! They are too yummy.

If you're stuck running only two clients on your laptop, I'd recommend the SK/Defiler or Berserker/Fury mixup (after all, thorn buffs and running fast are both really berserker-friendly)

I tried 3 and it was just too uncomfortable, so until I upgrade I am going to stick with 2 so kind of considering different duos now.

Was thinking of trying:

Berserker / druid (maybe fury if you guys all think theyre better than wardens)
Paladin / dirge (I need to study the paladin more to see how decent I can make his heals)

I will check out SK / defiler, sounds dirty.

Thanks for your thoughts.

With all honestly RB - a warrior + ward combo will make for some slooooow grinding

I know you stated a preference for a zerk so a good healer to dual-box with that would be the fury - but this does have its disadvantages in that you will be limited to being a plain-jane farming duo (not that a 2 box can exactly go down the bottom of anywhere spectacular anyway)

If you wanted to go something faster, I'd lean towards the SK + Fury combo - those 2 will make a very good basis for any future full-groups should you go that far

As for pallys - I RP them all the time (since release) and IMHO I think you will find that they may be more suited for a larger group than a 2 box (i.e., a group with more DPS) - another negative for a smaller group, when a pally wards or heals it is not DPSing...i.e., longer fights --> gets hit more --> requires more healing - I honestly don't think a heal-a-din is what you are after

Personally, would not even consider matching a dirge + pally for a duo box

I thought a zerker would be better better DPS than a SK? It seems like Pallies got the short end of the stick for the crusader subtype lol =)

What else would go well with a zerker to make it less plain jane? My first thought was zerker / dirge but then I thought id be lacking in heals which would slow me down. Then I thought (since im interested in pallies) that the dirge would help prop up the pallies DPS.

I just dont have enough experience with the game hah, making decisions based on how classes seem playing up to level 10 is probably not the best idea ;-)

I think SKs are a tad op. i have a sneaking suspicion that SOE buffed them to make them appealing to WoWs DK lovers. I have played all the fighter/tanks types and SK blows them all away for DPS. AND they can Tank really well!

I just started dual boxing on my laptop, and have been through a bunch of combinations. The best 3 I've done so far:

Assassin/Inquisitor - not bad, if you're melee-specc'd as an Inq. Positional attacks with the assassin can be tough to pull off.

SK/Coercer - if you don't mind going without a healer, and still want to try heroic content, give this a shot. The coercer is my main, so I'm very comfortable doing crowd control. if you can pull that off (not easy), you can absolutely mow through some very difficult things.

Brigand/Warden - a blast. I was very skeptical of druids, and I'm worried about the incoming nerfbat that brigands may get hit with. That said, right now today, this is my favorite combo. Heroic content is not hard to pull off. Set up a couple macros for healing, and go to it. Both are level 40 with 36 AAs, and solo orange mobs are ezmode. Just took out a triple up lvl 35 heroic mob; it wasn't difficult either. FWIW, my gear is all quested /drops- no twinking whatsoever.

Im going to go ahead with the paladin / dirge for now... number one rule, play whats fun.. and the guy is fun for me at the moment. If i get to a point where hes no longer enjoyable ill just shelve him and pair the dirge with somebody else.

Backing him up with a zerker / healer and considering something silly like warlock / warlock for a caster duo lol.

Anyways, I appreciate everybody's advice.

Holy crap, I dont know what I did but I bombed my settings and now Im running 3 guys. Trying a 4th today after lunch, which would be awesome lol.

Right now I have a pally / zerker / dirge... the 4th will be a melee healer if I can get it to run.
