In the 3.2 Patch:
Wind Shock: Has been renamed Wind Shear and no longer shares a cooldown with Flame, Frost or Earth Shock. What this means is we can rotate it into our Shamans spells without thinking about it for easy interrupts. It's off the GCD, and does no damage.
Put Wind Shear on:
Shaman #1 - Flame Shock
Shaman #2 - Lightning Bolt
Shaman #3 - Chain Lightning
Etc.
And... you can always leave it off on the main character to intentionally interrupt if you want :)

i wonder if they are going to keep the interrupt or drop it and use it as an agro dump (which is way overpowered as it is)

This change might actually make the spell worth putting on your action bar.
interesting, especially if it doesn't trigger GCD like kill shot :D
From what I understand, theyre removing interrupt from ES....so Id guess wind stays the same

Earth Shock: Redesigned. This spell no longer interrupts spell casting, but rather reduces melee attack speed by 10% for 8 seconds (exclusive with similar effects such as Thunder Clap). Wind Shock: Has been renamed Wind Shear and no longer shares a cooldown with Flame, Frost or Earth Shock. Maelstrom Weapon: Now also has a chance to reduce the cast time of Hex. From MMO-Champion
I looked at the PTR Patch notes too. I couldn't see anything that said it was off the Global Cooldown, if it is that might make it a little too good and bound for a nerf. Anyone on the PTR that can look and see if its off the GCD. Wind Shear not sharing a cooldown with the Shocks means that you don't have to blow a rotation up to toss a Threat Dump or Interupt. Wish I had that for the Romeo and Juliet fight in Kara. I like the Earth/Wind Shock change. ES was your interupt spell cause it did Damage too, and WS was only used as a Threat Dump (which I never had a problem with threat after Wrath came out. Woulda given my left arm for threat dump in BC *other than Ankh*) I like it cause it provides a new debuff weapon for Shammies while not losing a utility like interupt. Taking if off the same cooldown make you have that Interupt handy as soon as that GCD comes around.
Edit: From a Multi-box stand point. If you have multiple shaman, then you can macro out a cast sequence for one button interrupt. Something like this mapped to the same key (it would need testing):
A: /castsequence reset=6 Wind Shear,,,
B: /castsequence reset=6 , Wind Shear,,
C: /castsequence reset=6 ,, Wind Shear,
D: /castsequence reset=6 ,,, Wind Shear

It's already off the GCD because it's considered an interrupt, what makes it attractive is that it doesn't share a cooldown with the other shocks now.

Why Interupt, when a caster or whatever class is dead after 4 sec of combat : flame Shock then lavaburst and perhaps another flame shock or a bunch of chain lightnings.. and voila :)
anyway, I'll wait for this new spell to hit live before thinking about it

Nice Idea and I've already thought up a few ways to use it.
One thing however, Range could be an issue here. As in - wind shock shorter range conflicting with flame shock range on a target 35yrds away, therefore halting your entire Flameshock sequence. @earthshock - I'm fine with this change considering I pretty much stopped using ES entirely due to its lower dmg and interrupt being replaced essentially.
I'll definitely wait for it to go live before I get excited about the change.

An interrupt and a spell causing a GCD are not the same thing.
An interrupt will cause another caster to lose their spell when you hit them.
Your interrupt could be instant cast, or it might have a cast time.
If you cast Flame Shock (an instant), you still cannot cast a spell interrupt or not, until you are off of the Global Cooldown, which is an entirely separate issue.
Some spells don't trigger the Global Cooldown.
So for example you can put two spells into one macro without a castsequence:
/cast Elemental Mastery
/stopcasting
/cast Lava Burst
Not triggering the GCD is not the same thing as it Interrupts an opponent.
As far as I know, all of the interrupts do in fact trigger a GCD.
We have Kick, Counterspell, Windshock, Silence etc.

So now it's officially useless for pvp. Frost shock hits harder, has a shorter cooldown, and an effect that means something
