ding ding ding i now have 5 80's!! we cleared our first HC today

so my 6 days in HOL has finally paid off, my 3 little ones dinged and i now have 5 80's! Got them some crappy blue gear and decided to try HC's. Have cleared UK..was a bit messy but its my first time on my own! Tried VH got the water boss..wiped and gave up! Went to Gundrack did 3 bosses but couldn't do the one that splits, they kept being killed by goo. Will try HOL tomoz i need a little rest from HOL at the mo. Effex is not about to advise me so will just keep trying on my own till he is back to help me out. anyways ...am well happy :)

I do but I'm not native speaker either (I'd say ..I did "H UK" or "HVH" for Heroic versions of utgarde keep or violet hold (for instance))

Hmm we use the same abbreviation on German realms, too - HC for HeroiC. Must be an european thing. ;-)

If you don't mind a few tips:
- HC HOL (Loken): you wanna have a good bunch of life on everyone (like 15-17k) to survive the nova spell IF you're not going to avoid it but have fun with the third boss which is - IMHO - much harder. :/ Nature Reistance Totem will help with Loken, too.
- HC Gundrak (Drakkari Colossus): Nature Resistance Totem + Healing Stream Totem should help you alot here.
- HC VH (Ichoron): try to find three switches you're going to use and determine a clear path of those in which order you're going to use those, then start tanking him at one of those, in the second he's going down the first time: use the switch and run directly to the next one, heal up and he'll be at your tank just in that moment - do the same three times (frost resistance will help a bit) and after the third button he'll come up again for one last time: enraged and with few health points left to burn down - use divine protection / shield wall stuff and just kill him fast (he should have something like 5-15% at this point).

thank you for the gratz and info! my problem i just need to keep trying! i hate it when i can't do things the first time.

i cleared HOL today .. ok ... i cheated a bit as i gave up on the 3rd boss so effex helped me! naughty Luna. I did try VH again but got the boss that has orbs .. ususally i would tank this backwards up the ramp thing and round but effex (also in VH at the same time with his 5) and i both had problems and couldn't get past him.

so effex and i are now waiting outside voa and are are gonna try it together for a laugh! will be fun, will let you know how we get on

From my understanding (and personal usage / experience) it comes from older gamers calling it "hard core". I still refer to them as hardcore when talking to friends as I haven't drilled heroic into my head yet.

That orb guy in VH is the ONLY boss I have not killed yet. I hate him!
