Hello there!

I'm new to DualBoxing, but I've read some opinions from people in this forum, and I've decided to give Octopus a go. My question is... Does Octopus still exist? If Yes, where can I get it? I know where the tutorial is etc... but I can't open the official website homepage, and the filefront link doesn't work. (at least for me) - But I also haven't seen anyone or anything saying that it was discontinued.

Thank you in advance.

It's no longer being supported. If you're really set on using it, there's a few people around that can probably help you. Otherwise you're better off going with something that's still being developed / supported.

Thanks for the info. :)

Now I wonder if there's someone out there that can help me? ;)

Have you actually tried the ones that pop up when you enter "download octopus" into the forum search (http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?form=Search&searchID=623969&highlight=download+octopus)?

Octopus does still exist, but as noted by the other responses, not maintained any more by its author.

That said, I use it because it's a good piece of software that fulfils all my multiboxing needs. 1.3.8 is the latest version and you can find out where to get it here: [Octopus] Octopus 1.3.8a - .NET / C++ Hybrid Boxing Software ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=166269#post166269')

I did find the download link by what Otlecs told me to search for. But thanks anyway ;)

Now I have a very noobish question... First, I am trying to dualbox Lord of the Rings Online with Octopus, and by that I mean that I don't even know if it works.

Thing is. I have managed to create two instances (one for my main/server PC and another for the second pc), and I can make LOTRO run on both PCs by running both instances on my main PC. My problem is that broadcasting keystrokes and mouse clicks isn't working, and I don't think the Tutorial about Octopus explains how it works - Only if it is hidden somewhere where I can't find it. :O - I have setup the keys and mouse clicks I want to broadcast (on both substabs of the "Server" Tab ("Clicks" and "Keys") ). I'm not sure if that's the way I should do it, I don't even know if I have to fill the "Mapping" subtab on "Server" tab.

Oh! I even checked the "Whitelist" thing on the "Keys" subtab. - Dunno if that makes anything or not, but I've tried both ways and it didn't work, just so you know.

Sorry if it is a bit confusing, but I have confused myself already :P

I tried to search in the forums for this but I didn't find anything helpfull...

Again, thank you in advance.

See my sig for an Octopus setup tutorial (should work with 1.3.8; let me know if it doesn't). Also, have you tried testing octopus with something like two copies of notepad, just to make sure Octopus is working? At least that way, you can tell where it is octopus in general or LOTRO/octopus support for LOTRO.

I followed that tutorial ;) It tells you in the beginning where to setup the keys (and how, but it doesnt explain much about it), and it doesnt mention it again after that. - And I did every step that the tutorial shows.

Also, what do you mean with the notepad thing?

Ok, I've managed to make the mouse to move on the pc at the same time I move my main's PC mouse... But I've got a problem with LOTRO, before it runs the .exe, it needs to run the Launcher (which is another .exe) but its just one of those little windows where you put your account name and password, to log in. After that it runs the main .exe file, which is "lotroclient.exe", but I can't run that .exe before the Launcher, it gives me an error.

I'm kinda stuck now, but guess it's LOTRO's problem. (although, I didnt manage to put the keys working... yet.)

EDIT: It's now working properly... the only thing I miss is the keys.

OK, sounds like it's tying into the launcher and not the "lotroclient.exe" game itself. Try going into the "Client" tab, then "Windows" sub-tab and clearing the box for "Window title" and put "lotroclient" in the "Process name" box. That should let it attach to the proper window.

Aye, forgot to update my status :P That what I did before you tell me, but thanks a lot for answering anyways!

It's all running up now :)
