I'm worn out from playing Alliance, time to switch back to the Horde! I have a 70 UD priest on one account, and was thinking instead of 2 boxing a warlock/priest from scratch, why not have the 70 play healbot for my lock while out of party? Only thing I couldn't do is shield the lock or pet, but that's a small price to pay I suppose. The warlock would get full xp, unless Blizzard changed something. I was thinking of doing the same thing for a new warrior later on if this works.
Guess I would be attracting attention with a 70 following me around in Durotar, but eh well. Whatcha think?
Worked for me when I did it. Not as amazing as you might think but still helpful :)

Well, I was thinking it would be an absurdly high xp rate if my lock doesn't have to waste time draining life, wanding, etc. Just insta-dot every mob in sight, lifetap + priest heal to fill the bars up, don't even have to stop unless I run out of mobs.
Maybe it's one of those situations that sound better than it actually is:(
It IS good - but you can't kill mobs too high because of spell resists. Too low and no exp. So it IS helpful for AoE grinding and such but in practice its ... tricky :)
I didn't say impossible though.

Any PLing is worth better than no PLing at all I say :) If you have Nostromo, you can just program it to cast Renew every 13 seconds on both your Warlock and his/her Pet (is how I did mine) without having to play with the priest at all and focus your attention on your warlock. You can kill 4 mobs simultaneously and anything over that and it gets tricky. Go affliction so u can have 3 instant dots. As Xzin said - try to kill mobs 2 lvls below you (at most even level) - spell resist at a low mana pool sucks.

How do you have the priest do that? Synergy I assume? I was just reading over a post on the N52 in the hardware forum. I was planning on using voice commands to control the priest, but this sounds easier if I can get used to it.

If you install N52 properly, it comes with a software. Then edit the profile you have for wow and change one of the keybindings as a MACRO --> NEW MACRO.
Start Recording (ignore delay on keystrokes). press the 2 buttons you'll be reserving for Renew on your warlock and Renew on your pet (mine is just simple 1 & 2). In my macro it's press #1 then delay 7 seconds, then press #2, then delay 7 seconds. On the right, under the last options, click the box that says REPEAT UNLESS PRESSED AGAIN. This will continuously keep casting renew onyour warlock and your pet.
Leaving your warlock nearly invincible against 1-4 mobs without having to pay attention with the healing since Renew in non instanced / non elite mobs are more than sufficient. Improved Life Tap FTW.

My Renew Macros for Warlock & Pet are as follows:
#1
/follow WarlocksName
/target WarlocksName
/cast Renew
#2
/follow WarlocksName
/target WarlockPET
/cast Renew
(this will ensure that even if you somehow get stunned or tripped - which breaks autofollow, you will follow on the next renew cast)
Just be aware that technically thats botting on the priest.
Will they ever do anything? Probably not.

It's as grey as Auto Assisting Nuking - which was considered not botting in other threads.
And to break the "Botting" - every 30 min - u'll have to cast Fort and Spirit manually (one hour over lvl 39).

Thx for sharing that Hapi. I definately want more control over the priest though. Wanding, shielding, etc. So I'll probably end up figuring out something manually. While the chances are low that Blizz will ban me for that macro, I still don't wanna take a chance with it. I'll probably have enough attention on me as it is.

You can just do it - old school $20 way. Look at one of Xzin's posts where he posted a cheap USB number pad only keypad. U'll end up only using + and - key and u can put it left of your keyboard and can easily press those 2 keys with a pinky :p
As far as shielding / wanding - I guess you wont need to wand / extra dot/nuke till he's 58 or else you steal poor warlocks exp :p -- heh granted you're a wuss like me and plays in a PVE server :(

Warlock is a class with little downtime as is. Later in levels you may find it nice to lifetap to your hearts content while it's on auto follow for healing/renews.
Just recently at 55 my arms warrior was having a lot of down time so I drug my 63 resto shaman behind him in tow. Now that setup right there really sped things up nicely. Now that they are both around the same level, having the shaman in group is actually better with Wind Fury totem. That really speeds things up.
If only your Priest was at the same level you could utilize the shields for hellfire without taking a large EXP hit from grouping. You could level a Resto Druid/Shaman with your warlock, as a bonus to having another 70 when you hit level cap to play with. Just food for thought.

I always wondered what would be a better partner for a warrior, a paladin or shaman. I levelled 3 paladins to 60 a long time ago, and they were seriously boring to solo after 50. The paladin aoe thing wasn't around back then. They are fun to play in the right group though for pvp.
WF + warrior sounds pretty fun. I will definitely give it a try when I get bored of the warlock. Thanks:)
I had started 2 boxing with my 70 druid and a new mage. I just didn't group them and had the druid follow the mage keeping HoTs rolling while the mage AoE'd everything.
It's pretty effective.

There will be some mobs that you will do amazing on and some you will suffer (time wise) on with the priest / warlock.
There are some nice areas depending on your server where you can really dig in and gain xp quick. The epl/slime cave and the non-instance DM/ogres.
Setting your hearth to outlands at a early level via a warlock is a good deal, that will make travel to all the cities quick.
Getting a monster shard bag and the ST trinket asap is good too.
