Is there an addon that will tell you what to do with drops? for example i kill something, it drops armor/weapons, the addon lets me know that the item is better than whats currently equipped items on my toons, so i equip it.

It will show you who would get the best ilvl update from the item, which in many cases is the best upgrade - it will NOT show you what the actual upgrade is though... helps some!
I use the addon RatingBuster for this, and i really cant live without it. However, there will be a built-in item compare feature in the upcoming 3.2 patch.

RatingBuster is awesome. I love it, cuz it automatically incorporates your talents that translate one stat into another, IE on a survival hunter it knows to translate the stamina on an item into the equivalent attack power and add it to the displayed attack power.

tankpoints is similar for tanking gear, but it doesn't take into consideration whether or not you will be "defense capped" with either piece of gear, that is something you have to look at on your own.

+1 for RatingBuster. It lets you customize the stats that are shown so you can put up just the stats that are important to you and see if an item is an upgrade. Best way to do this is to link it to party chat so your alts can click on it. The only thing it doesn't calculate in is gem slots. You'll have to figure what stats they will offer to you on top of it.

hmm, ratingbuster will make it easier, but i'll still have to spend lots of time comparing items rating, is there an addon that just says "give this to x" ?
GearScore, exactly what i wanted. Thanks!

Rawr (http://www.codeplex.com/Rawr) is a very strong program for gear.
It can recommend gear upgrades, choose the optimal gems/enchants for your current gear etc.
Download Rawr, extract it (on Vista it seems to run better in the Public folder).
- Import your toon from the wow armory.
- On the buffs tab, enable the buffs which you commonly run with. Raid buffs vs Party buffs, will impact gear choices. Include flasks/food you commonly use.
Well, basically follow each tab, anything with an asterik can be moused over for more information.
It's not an addon per se, but does exactly what you're asking for.
Once set up, you could alt-tab between wow and rawr.

Take what rawr tells you with a pinch of salt though, it is very broken regarding the functionality of a few classes, like for destruction warlocks it is currently using a very outdated calculation of conflagrate's damage, so crit is given a lot more priority than it should.

GearScore keeps sending me round in circles telling me that the item in my bag is better than what's equipped, so i equip it, and it says that the item i unequipped is better than the one equipped
basically it's saying that 2 items are better than eachother :S
Any other suggestions?

If you want the best answer, go somewhere like elitistjerks.com
From there, research your PvE or PvP class thread.
Figure which stats are best for you.
For example, an Elemental Shaman performs better with equal stats and less haste, then equal stats but slightly more haste for four specific haste ranges. As in, your gear remains unchanged, but you have the option of adding a haste enchant, which stacks with gems and other enchants. At certain haste ranges, you're better off without this piece then with it.
Every class or potentially spec, has different gear priorities.
In general, 1% hit or 1% crit (if you gain 100% extra damage on a crit) are equal.
But if your hit capped, the crit is better. If you're not hit capped, because of itemization, hit is better.
Basically 1% hit is whatever hit rating. 1% crit is whatever crit rating.
1 hit rating and 1 crit rating cost the same number of itemization points.
However you gain 1% benefit for a small amount of hit rating then crit rating.
Because of this, two pieces which are both item level 100...
If they have say 20 sta, 20 int, 15 hit rating and 20 spell power.
A same item level piece but crit instead of hit will be:
20 sta, 20 int, 15 crit, 20 spell power.
However, the 15 hit rating gets you a larger boost then the 15 crit rating.
Prioritize which stats are worth the most to you.
If you have an effect which grants a boost anytime you crit..
For example Holy Paladin..
Then Crit might be prioritized higher then normal.
On the other hand Elemental Shaman gets 35% of their damage from Lava Burst...
Which always crits, therefore 35% of your crit is useless (ie, does nothing for you).
It's still a great stat for the initial portion of Flame Shock and Lightning spells.
But, whatever the rating on the piece, only 2/3rds of that rating helps your damage.
