What the hell am I suppose to do?

I got train wrecked by this team? I am at 700 rating and they were 2k....lol

I ALMOST killed one of them but with my pretty much 1900 SP with flametongue I just couldn't do it. I think I saw this team 6-7 times today and I couldn't do anything to them. It was eat a fear then eat a shadowfury and then by the time I TS them off of me and get something together its eat another Shadowfury and then another fear. My guys have 805 res but mostly just straight PVP gear so my SP is lacking. I know if I had more spellpower like in line with some of the other 4X shammy teams I probably would have wrecked this team.

Any thoughts? I faced them on ROV and Nagrand mostly pretty much so it was hard to really do anything.

Wow I went 14-16 for the night. Not exactly very good but I guess its a learning experience.

I guess my only questions are I can't seem to burst people down on some teams no matter what. Either I get silenced or feared or frozen or always something and then one of my guys dies or they are all almost close to death and trying to Chain Heal is like a roll of the dice...lol

I was using a pally but his AOE kind of sucks. I think I would rather go with a priest with AOE healing and AOE fear + Pain Suppression just seems the way to go.

I dunno..lol

Also how do you guys handle LOS runners. I played a ton of teams that LOS like mad, and sometimes my followers are slow asses at following. It almost seems like staying close to followers seems better then running after someone.

What hurts teh most of about the teams with warlocks is that damn shadowfury stun. Everytime I'm about to kill someone, boom aoe stun.

For frost mage, I hope you have frost resist totem on at least one of your shaman. It makes a hell of a difference. Mages are very easy to pressure too, a couple lightning bolts and CL's and they are likely to bubble at that point. The mirror images can be taken care of with a single chain lightning.

For LoS teams, I try to position myself in a place where they can't LoS effectively.
In nagrand, this is going to be on an opposite pillar, but just in front. They will lose range by a few yards if they stand behind the opposite pillar. All they can really do is ice lance over and over.

In blade's edge, near the front of the bridge prevents Los entirely unless they never want to open. put your totems way behind you and they won't be ice lanced.

In dalaran, our best bet so far has been to stand in a corner with my healer behind a box. This requires them to either jump down (where LoS is only possible by running around a corner), or fight on top, where if they get out of range, you're out of their range as well. We find that a lot of teams will go behind the box and try to gank my paladin - at which point they are now in my full line of sight as well as completely out of their healers' line of sight.

ring of valor and ruins are large enough for the same blades edge/nagrand type strategies - they Can los but will accomplish little more than an ice lance, mass dispell, or one off spell. If they come any closer you can start nuking, or at least purge the hell out of them.

Don't feel too bad about your record though, we went 6-20 last night, being paired about against the same 2400MMR about 11 times, and the rest were 1900+. Out of 20 losses, only two were blatant mistakes of ours, the rest were just teams with too much coordination, CC, and most of all - massive dps.

You might swap in a priest or resto druid if you keep getting the same teams, for better aoe healing. My pally and I seem to do better against cleave teams, 2x melee + mage/warlock, or whatever. Other heavy aoe teams seem to need more aoe healing.

Hopefully this is legit, but take this with a grain of salt - our best rating has been 1690 so far on reckoning, but all we get are 2200+ mmr teams, then <1000 rated teams that we farm for an hour then they get lucky and steal 25 points from us and we're back to where we started. Maybe someone with a higher rating can give you better advice :)

I've had almost no success with trying to chase LoS teams. as much as we can throw them off with thunderstorm or a few stuns, the fact that I have 3 followers trying to runa round a pillar ends up messing me up more than them. Additionally, rush strats on things like ring of valor haven't worked well either. I can thunderstorm them in every direction, but then my shaman are facing no one. a quick aoe fear or something puts me in an even worse position than them.

best thing about thunderstorm is it knocks back everyone in random directions. worst thing about thunderstorm is is knocks back everyone in random directions.

You're also going to need more spell power to burst down geared teams. 1900 is a bit low. My main has 2170 at the moment, no amazing but if they aren't furious geared and 2k+ mmr they will explode. Couple of guys on the other thread around 2k rating are running 2400sp unbuffed, and apparently that's about what you need to blow up full furious geared teams.

Make sure you also have at least 95 spell penetration and a good 6% +hit. Have your paladin make a totem stomping macro with his longest ranged judgment, with fire resist and nature resist totems as the top priority. You can easily get rid of grounding totems with searing totems or just by purging someone.

Hey guys, glad you're getting a taste of the grind. Don't have a ton of time, and I've mentioned this a few times in other threads but I'll touch on a couple things really quick.

LOS teams: To be honest, the best way to deal with these guys is be PATIENT PATIENT PATIENT. Just wait them out, if they want to wait til you've wasted cooldowns to charge... then don't waste cooldowns. Keep up groundings and /dance
Couple big mistakes I used to make often:
1: Blowing heroism and they run right back. If they are still mounted, don't use it. Wait til they are on your ass, and dismounted... else a good team will just run away again.
2: Blowing my EM cooldown on someone 5 feet from a pillar, then they just run behind it. This is a more impulsive mistake than anything... as I never actually thought it was a good idea, just kinda... happened lol.
3: Chain casting on people but never actually killing them. Flameshocks, CLs, etc on people. DON'T BLOW ALL YOUR MANA. You'd be surprised how fast I've found myself at 20% mana with nobody dead because of LOSers. Once I'm low mana, BOOM they charge and Im a goner. I focus on recasting grounding totems, watch for pets stomping my tremors (kill lone pets everytime you can), and let my priest get some juicy mass dispells off on people out of LOS (cast to the side of the pillar etc). Naked targets > buffed targets... plus it usually makes them panic and make a mistake.
4. Spellpower: It comes with gear, and so does success, however I also gem/enchant for it as a primary stat... which is something you CAN do now before the gear upgrades come. In a competitive battlegroup, 1900 spellpower will not carry you much past 1500 rating. With totems down, ALL 4 of my guys are sitting on 2700+ spellpower, probably about 2470-2500 without. You will have a hard time killing anyone in Deadly/Furious gear without high spellpower... unless they stand out in the open for 5 seconds... which would put them in the "Shitty Player" column... and you won't see this behavior at higher ratings. (But it sure is fun when you get one of these teams lol. 7 second match anyone?)

Hope this helps. There are some good threads Dominion, Kruschpak, Sinaa and myself have thrown together that covers gearing, gemming/enchanting, macros, totemsets, etc. However there still needs to be a good strategy thread/video, which I am working on throwing together here soon.

Good luck and happy hunting.

I pretty much have the highest Spellpower I can have at this point without getting a higher arena rating. I'm shooting for like 1600ish so I can at least score the deadly 5 piece set and working on the others, but it is sure annoying. Best buffed spellpower I could probably muster would be to lose 95 res from the WG trinket and put in the Battlemaster trinket to gain the 111 SP, but I don't know if at this point its worth losing the res for.

With the hateful set, the titanforged chest, and the furious accessories, you can hit over 2100. If you do JC and go for the +111 spell power battlemaster trinket you can hit 2300.

If you plan on getting higher than 1600 I would save your arena points and start buying furious gear (1600 for gloves, 1700 for pants, and up). I'm not sure if it's possible to hit 1850 this late in the season anymore without any furious gear (we're sure having trouble with it, all I have are the accessories and mostly hateful and I can barely put a dent on any of the 2200+ teams), but if you're on a roll I'd save your 3200 arena points for the weapon/shield.

Then again each furious piece is a massive upgrade over hateful (30-40 spell power per piece + a lot of stamina)

I faced the same setup apart from that the resto druid was a resto shaman and i was kinda clueless even after 4-5 fights. They had the best cordinated burst ive ever seen of any caster teams, they dropped me in the same speed that i drop people with my focus macro.

What ususaly happens is that the rogues open and they focus the char im currently controling, now i was playing with a paladin who used hand of protection wich get pretty much dispelled right away. Anything he trows on me was dispelled by the shaman while the priest was spmming massdispell with bloodlust, if hes lucky he actually manages to dispell my elemental mastery between my 0.5 second shock and lava burst.

One thing i tried was to drop the priest and pop bloodlust, but they dropped my shaman in pretty much the same second. Ive killed the rogue but it didnt help much overall, my healer was able to deal with the damage but killing anything while eating 2x fears + shadow fury and a grounding totem isnt always easy. I didnt even try to kill the warlock and the mage iceblocked always in time, they were both sitting outside purge range and i didnt have enough spellpower to take them down with LvB/CL/FS.

I will def try to go more agressive out against frost mages pets since they are alot of a mages burst and are on a pretty long cooldown, ofc they can use two but it will force them to waste coldsnap on nothing.

Gares get the clicky 440 spell power trinket from WG and add it to your insta nuke combo little less than 1800 spell power extra. helped me a ton.

I got that trinket (its the one with +95 res) but getting my nuke off with all 4 and actually killing someone with either 1900 SP or 2200 with TOW is the hard part. My MMR is around 1550 and I am getting teams around 1700-2200 and they pretty much wreck me no matter what comp they are running. Most of the time my focus nuke never kills someone (I have the proper +spell pen and +hit) its just the lack of Spellpower.

Here is my armory link to my main shammy. Any suggestions would be helpful. The only change to my talents I can think of would be to remove the point from Lightning Overload and move them into elemental precision and Flametongue Weapon maxed out.

If you don't have the honor for the pvp neck yet buy this one or craft it.

Armory I guess isn't working or not updated correctly but I have the pvp neck.

805 Res
1952 SP with Flametongue
18.9k Health.

I have 4/5 Hateful set with Titan Forge Helm
I have the entire deadly glad off pieces
I have both WG trinkets Rune of Audacity and Discs of Sorcery.

I have everything I can possibly get through honor except battlemaster trinket (+111 spellpower), without getting at least a 1350 rating in arena (currently sitting at 1170). I guess I just need to try and play as many games as I can so I can start at least getting the Deadly Set and Furious Off pieces but I don't know if its possible with some of the teams roaming around.

With those stats, I think at this point your bottleneck might be strategy, and practice practice practice.

This is something I work on and get better at every week, although my gear is pretty maxed. With the gear you just listed, you are definitely capable of hitting 1600-1850. The biggest factor is strat and playstyle tbh. Everyone can wear gear.

Gares and i have about the same gear. i usualy dont have any problem dropping people. If your being cc'd and not all 4 are getting your big combo off use yer pvp trinket right before you do it or better yet throw up flame shocks if not all 4 land on your target 1 of yer chars is cc'd. i never blow my instant lvb till i see 4 flame shocks on my target and hes not trying to LOS me. Also a mistake i made alot was to keep blowing it right off the beginning. teams got smart and threw in a decoy (mage, pally) to bubble/iceblock it. beat em down with lbolts and cl. Most of this stuff is basic but from watching vids of myself its some of the main issues ive had.
