With those names you picked for your team, I'm surprised the guild name isn't something like "Mordor Kombat" :D Pretty cool setup there. I've thought about tryin LotRs, but haven't invested in it yet.

Very awesome! I've played LoTRO but found myself frustrated by the need to group for so many of the quests. This was back before I considered multiboxing of course. Thanks for the videos, I subscribed and would love to see more! :)

Thanks for the updates and I truly appreciate the videos. I can't afford to play both WoW and LoTRO and if I did, I would want to multibox it. So I'm living vicariously thru your videos because on some level I miss LoTRO. I enjoyed it when I played it and seeing the old content again is fun!

So thanks again for the updates! :)

Nice videos. I love that Gothic choir music! I noticed your warden loses agro a lot. I 3 boxed lotr with a champ as my leader and never got agro taken away. Might be because champs are plate wearing AE dps masters. Not sure what has changed since I played though. Thx for the Vids 8)

Yeah DPS threat is bigger than the taunts, that's why champs are so good OT.
But I'm still working on my strategy, I'll try other gambits, but one thing is for sure, if my RKs start dpsing and keep on it, there is no way I can take the aggro away from them, a guardian could be better for that, wardens need to build aggro, but my RKs just can't wait to bring on the pain :D

For most of the earlier content you can just power through with straight DPS and your Runestones healing... maybe throw a Prelude to Hope on whomever is taking the majority of damage on some of the bigger baddies. I setup my RKs to be able to swap between having them all set to do DPS, go into a 2 Healer / 2 DPS split or just designate one as a healer all on the fly. When you first hitting some of the trolls out in Misty Mountains or the Trollshaws is when you'll probably want to be actively trying to hold aggro on the warden, but even then you can probably manage okay.

I have 2 setups for my RKs, 5 DPS, and 1 healer/4 DPS, the healer is spec for healing all the time, just in case I need his healing, but for the most part, I'm fine with no designated healer or even trying to tank, not even when I pull several elites, the runestones are great, but for most of the instance bosses, I need that healer, and I need to hold aggro, cause they hit hard.

Have you done any of the instances? maybe one of those new 3man instances?

I've not run any of the Moria instances with the team. I regularly farm the Rune of Winged Dominance from CD, since it's still a good seller and I can knock it out in under an hour.

I've been through the two 3-man instances in a non-team setup. The big issue you'll face with the Water Wheels is that everything in there spews out heavy poison DOTs, and they normally come quicker than you can clear (even with potion use and use of the Poison Bubble). Hall of Mirrors might be a bit more manageable, as they give wounds, but it seems to be less frequent than the poison in Water Wheels.

Btw, which server are you on?

Thats so cool, I two box LOTRO atm. I was thinking of starting up a third account to knock out those 3 mans, good item XP etc. I'm on the Brandywine server. If you are in 21st you'll often see my Main RK, Laoniitas, or my hunters Iaoden or Laoborn. Shoot me a tell sometime. I'm part of the Brandywine Brewing Co. Our kin has a lot of dual boxers in it and infact our kin leader is a dual boxer (HIyde, Hanfor).

I've been searching the forums here for new ways to dual box on LOTRO. Currently I use Input Director between my Laptop and my Main desktop. I then use the Logitech G15 software to setup macros etc. Works pretty good for two accounts but three or more I can see will be a problem, or a lot harder.

Ellay
08-05-2009, 03:12 PM
Do you have an effective way of assisting? or targeting?

MonkeysUncle
08-05-2009, 03:21 PM
Yeah I just make sure Target Forward Assist is enabled on both accounts. I then use a macro I made that auto selects fellow 2 and follows them. From there I just quickly move my mouse back and forth between my screens to do attacks etc. I have a bunch of other macros as well that help.

I was just wondering also what software do you guys use. I heard Isbox was a good one.

Ellay
08-05-2009, 03:25 PM
Hmm from the videos, there has to be a more effective approach to /assisting than clicking on each screen :)

MonkeysUncle
08-05-2009, 03:27 PM
Yeah not sure, still trying to figure out how other people do it. I just have two accounts so the way I do it is pretty simple.

Xtremepayne
08-05-2009, 04:50 PM
The key to making you characters target thru another is that the one they are focusing thru will be fellowship leader and do all the invites to the others. What happens to the others is that the group leader becomes the 2nd character in on each of the other characters lists. This way all you have to do it hit F2 to get them to target assist thru group leader

This worked on offensive spells, but what about heals.

Xtremepayne
08-05-2009, 06:19 PM
Well even I would like to know that one. I keep thinking that it would be a matter of making a keymapping that only the healer uses. What I mean is the use of F Keys. If using Innerspace, keymap those keys to your healer only. Then if more then 1 keystroke can be bound to the F Key, 1st part to select your target to heal and then the second part would be doing the heal itself. As you can see I have thought about but have yet to try it.
If using ISBoxer Toolkit, it is much easier to build your team now. with the release of Beta 33. And also keymap your keys. This is what I use currently and its the best I have used for boxing Lotro. I currently run 3 instances on 1 machine. All hunters, but I do have a 60 minstrel I would like to include in the place of a hunter. This is where I have been giving it some thought and how it could be done.

MonkeysUncle
08-06-2009, 02:02 PM
True, you could go through the F keys to map for the min. If you have a Logitech Keyboard (G15,G19 etc) you could use the G keys and map a set of them to select certain members of the team and then do one or two heals such as Raise the Spirit, or Bolster Courage. You could even map one to use Soliloquy of the Spirit, if you get in trouble and you whole team needs heals. For the buffs and stuff I think you could easily press on the quickslot bar instead of mapping keys. Or use one or two keys and macro in a combination of your buff skills. So you press one and it gives more morale or power and then allows you to do more damage. Whatever combo of Minstrel buffs u want.

Dargoros-Alt
Bawl-alt
Korella

Orici
Shadorian
Kimsari
Hoci

Feel free to send me a tell and we can share information.

Cool sounds good, I don;t play on any other server atm though. If you're ever on Brandywine we'll have to gank HoC or something. I was thinking of starting up a third account for a minstrel so if I do that I'd be doing a two hunter/min team or a RK, Hunter, Min. I also have a lev 60 Guard so might rotate him in for some of the harder 3 mans etc.

Do you have an effective way of assisting? or targeting?
Sorry for the late response, somehow I didn't get any email telling me about the new posts.

For assisting and healing, first, I make sure the group is always in the same order, as you can see in the videos, its always the same, to do that, just make the leader send the invites and accept with each char in the same order.

To assist I make them press shift+F2 (assist leader)
For the heals its more complicated cause each of the healers will have to press a different F key to select each char.

This is my char order:
Kintaro
Dairou
Liukang
Kunglao
Boraicho
Shujinko

For example, if I want all my RKs to select Liukang, the setup would be:
Dairou hit F3
Liukang F1
Kunglao F4
Boraicho F4
Shujinko F5

With target forwarding is easier.

And here it is the latest episode

If you invite your characters in the same order each time then setting up the keys shouldn't be to much of a problem. It took me long enough but I managed to to successfully run 2 hunters/minstrel and be able to heal all 3. I even took it further by adding in 2 of my kin and did Mormoz.

lotros skill forwarding built into game means your slaves have leader targeted and ALL attack skills will pass on to your mains target ... and all beneficial buff spells / heal etc go to main not the enemy the game knows which are for you and which are for the enemy its pretty FLUID

Fun thread to read, I haven't watched all of your videos yet, but I have been 2 boxing lotro for a while. Trying to get back into it from the recent break I took. I play on Gladden. I have Frostt my 60 guard and Truwen my 42 RK, i am thinking about putting a hunter or a mini in the group and do 3 mans when they're 60. (I Do have a 60 mini on my 3rd account). Though, I think it would be fun to run the min, rk, guard. I just have to figure things out with it. I suppose it would be a tad more complicated...maybe..

How do you keep up on heals, dps and tanking?

Thanks fort he fun adventures of your team, it is interesting to watch. =)

My favorite was the forgotten treasury. That was fun watching you kite the one troll while your other boys tore down the other and then you finished it off only wiht 2 deaths. How do you handle rezzes? I finally got ISboxer working tonight, so I am going to try 3 boxing a mini, rk and guard. I think this will be perfect for 3 man instances once the RK is 60. I loved the videos as they were very inspiring.

Nice vids! Dualboxing is cool. I dualboxed a champ and capt for a while using keyclone (2pc's), went pretty smooth.

Atm I only have 1 pc, so keyclone doensn't work anymore to dualbox. I tried using hotkeynet as it's free, but I can't even rename my 2 lotro windows, let alone send commands to my slave offcourse.

Is there anyone that uses a free program that could help me out here? I really want to try a LM/RK duo.

Well, it isn't free, but only 10 dollars for 3 months or 36 for I believe a year. But innerspace and isboxer is pretty darn cool. I just got my 3 boxes up and loading perfectly. I haven't set all of my keymaps yet, but so far I have formations working for my 2 slaves, and some very basic key mapping set for repeating keys like 1,2 etc. You can also mimic mouse use/movement and have a hotkey to turn that on and off. Ultimately, its awesome. And very reasonable on the price for 3 months, 3.33 a month, 10 bucks for 3. If you use it and want help setting up send me a PM and I can give you a hand, but lax and the OP have created some neat videos that are very very handy and helpful.

Yes it was a fun fight, and it took a lot of wipes to get to that strategy, trolls in general are hard for my team cause of their aoe and knockbacks, and not being able to put them close to each other make things even harder.

So I tried to increase my rks dps as much as possible (even with a scroll) and just try to kill that troll before he wipes my rks (they were all on dps mode), after they killed him, used the skill to get some power back and used steady hands with my healer, healed the tank and finished the other troll.

One of the most fun parts of multiboxing is figuring out strategies that will work with your team :)

Very cool Tronix, nice to see you're at it still. I haven't been playing for a couple of months, due to moving and just bored since none of my family play any more/at this time. I think once my mini and RK are 65 Im going to try and 3 box one of the trio instances. I see big repair bills in my near future. =P
