View Full Version : (somewhat off-topic) Solo toon question

All of my accounts are currently closed, but I've been thinking about multiboxing again and realise that having some cash on hand would be useful for my new teams. Thought I might activate one account and do dailies or something like that to raise funds. Of these options, which would you choose to go solo with, given the current state of game balance:
- 70 warlock
- 70 mage
- 74 DK
- 50 hunter

I have misc other alts but these are the ones that seem most likely. The hunter would take a bit of work to level, but it's been ages since I played him, and hunters used to be great solo characters. Advice appreciated.

(think I'll start downloading all the patches and updates I've missed.)

Any of those would be really good for farming gold really. Id just pick one based on what you most enjoy playing :)

For money and ease there are lvl 68 dailies in Howling Fjord. Get 3 people doing 2 dailies there takes like 10 mins (air ship) and 3 mins (steelgate) and you get about 4-5 each quest and each person. That adds up real quick. Then once you get to 73, you can do the Grizzly Hills PVP dailies. That is 4 of them, and they take 4-5 for one and then 5-8 mins for 3 of them, so for 5+8+(5 mins travel time)=18 mins total, you get 3x5g=15g. That isn't so bad. And it is doens't involve any real fighting. You could do it solo (just watch for gankers on PVP stuff).

I would just get all 4-5. Go level up the lower people when you can, but put the higher people outside of your group (so they don't destroy the exp) and do quests on the lower people. You might do a few instances and see if it is worth it (time versus exp compared to quests). Go do the dailies on the higher people. And watch LFG chat and be willing to do instances with other groups on your lower people, since everyone near your level makes exp better. Doesn't even matter if they are idiots, you don't need to finish the place, just get the exp off the trash mobs.
Hope that helps and good luck.

I would prolly go with the mage if I had to pick from that set of options. Free food/water to save coin. Ports to speed things up, you can set your hearth to one place and port to Dalaran. Any class is capable of doing 90% of the content out there and even some of the group content as well. Northrend is pretty good for leveling with the daily quests. You can pretty much start with the 3 daily quests from the walrus guys. The quest to spear the drake by the Nexus is fast and easy. The other two in Howling Fjord are quick and easy. As you get a few levels there are tons in Grizzly hills you can add. Some are not exactly MB friendly but as solo you should be fine.

I would hammer out the Grizzly Hills and lower dailies till you get sick or level to 80 off of them. Run a few pugs and explore around. When you get to level 78ish, I would hit up Icecrown. There are a ton of dailies and you will prolly be level 80 by the time your are done unlocking them. There is also the Argent Tournament as well.

Thanks for the feedback all. Sounds like those dailies in Northrend are the way to go. I may even activate two accounts and twobox for a while. I've read a lot of posts here concerning the RAF system and I think this will work:

2 existing accounts + 3 new RAF accounts:
1 --> 3
2 --> 4
.......3-->5

This setup should allow me to both boost with account 1 (assuming new characters on 2-5) as well as create a whole new squad of 5 with RAF bonus right?
- boosted accounts are within 5 levels of each other
- regular squad of five all linked together

If it would work, the nice part of this setup is that I can activate 1 & 2 now, and play around with the new toys that have come out since I last boxed (Jamba, ISBoxer etc)
