Fallout is a post-apocalyptic RPG.

I played the original Fallout and thought it was awesome. Didn't have time for the others but I've heard good things about Fallout 3.

My recommendation would be to pick up a console game for XBox 360 that has some RPG aspects to gameplay (I played Chromehounds during my first burnout from WoW).

If you try Fallout 3, I highly suggest you rent it first on the 360 if you have one. If you like it then and decide to buy it, if your computer is pretty strong, i HIGHLY recommend you buy it for that and not the 360. The 360 does not offer you they options that PC version does like the mods that are out for it. Check FilePlanet.com for a good list and http://fallout3nexus.com/ for even better mods. The Nexus site's mods open up the game to more than any console version can. The achievements on the 360 are not a good reason to buy this game for, trust me, I wasted my money on it before I got the PC version. Problem now, my damn laptop can't handle the mods I want to use for the game cause it taxes the hell out of my Geforce9500m card. My next tower PC I build will support SLI, maybe even Trip-SLI so I can really enjoy this and Crysis like I want.

If you try Fallouts, try only Fallout1 and 2. Fallout3 is overrated crap that should have been named "Elder Scrolls Oblivion with guns" :) Mass Effect is way superior to Fallout3, try that if you wanna find a good action RPG.

This was an old quake 3 mod that can be downloaded free now. It's a FPS that you can jump in and start killing. It's old school so no stupid achievements to unlock crap. You pick your weapon load out and start killing.

Fallout 3 fits the series very well, I think. It's not the same game as FO1 or FO2, but FO2 is pretty far removed from FO1, and it's still as canon as you can get. FO3 nails the franchise spot-on even with wildly different gameplay. Take this as a recommendation from a Fallout lover who doesn't really care for any of the Elder Scrolls games ... Fallout 3 kicks ass.

I don't like Elder Scrolls games either, they suck I agree with you on that, I just used Oblivion as an exmaple since FO3 and Oblivion look exactly the same(same developer and engine). But I disagree about FO1-FO2-FO3. For me FO3 didn't have any of the elements why I liked previous Fallout games...it didn't have COMPLETE freedom to do what ever you wanted to and when you wanted to and the developers didn't really get that 1st person RPGs need very good dialogue and story to be a good game. Other than Liam Neesons voice acting the game didn't have anything interesting to give in that department. For me FO3 felt like CS with level ups...hehehe

Ever tried Mass Effect ? That's much better action RPG than FO3, Negativ should try that instead of FO3 :P

I got this new game for my Wii - Pet Catz 2. You can make kittens of over 30 breeds, put cool clothes on them, and create a magical land for them to play in. It's really fun

I've played, beaten, and unlocked a hell of alot of achievements on Mass Effect, lost interest in it after the second playthrough. Still a very good and exciting game, I'll admit. Hell, I can't wait till part two to see how they top the first. But if you want one with alot of replay value, an action RPG to boot, I'd suggest the Champions of Norrath games on the Playstation 2. Both Champions of Norrath, and CoN: Return to Arms. I played both of those for a couple years leveling all the classes and grinding the hell out of all the characters when all other games I owned wouldn't satisfy. I never go into any of the EverQuest games except for those two. Couldn't afford any MMOs till I tried out City of Heroes (grew bored with it) then went to Guild Wars (no fees I liked that then got bored). Tried out City of Villains when it came out (quickly got boring again), then caved in and tried WoW on my brother's account. After playing for a few months, I got my own account and have been on this for years. What hooked me was the wide range of gear/weapons and customization you can do in this, and the fact you can use any spell in your spellbook anywhere in the world, unlike Guild Wars. The Talent Trees, and Stat tracking system were also big contributors. The crafting professions were the wiggling worm on the hook that snagged my attention tho. WoW reminded me so much of Champions of Norrath on that level cause I love that in RPGs, except for the professions, wish it had'em. But when you design a fantasy RPG, it should have a hell of alot of aspects of gameplay such as these to draw attention and keep it. Yet still there are many many MANY changes that can be done to WoW's professions, but in time, they will change as they have and will again. But anyways, I'm ramblin. Champions is another really good alternative if you have PS2 or PS3 that can play it. They may be a little hard to find copies now tho, it was pretty popular and it also has an online feature to quest with others. This aspect I never really tried cause at the time I was playing this, I had no internet or network adapter for my PS2. Once I got the net, I had other games I played online constantly instead. Day of Defeat (a Half Life mod at the time), Then Day of Defeat: Source once HL2 came out. Gotta go through Steam ('http://store.steampowered.com/') to play it, but can be bought from the stores. DoD: Source is now a stand alone game, no HL2 required anymore. It's a really fun World War II FPS game. I recently resurrected my old account cause my little brother wanted to play it, and I found out they now added an achievement system to it. Not sure if any of them actually unlock anything ingame, but it's worth a looksee.

God I loved that game.

My brother and I figured out our first hack with it. If you played a bishop and tried to Identify item #9 (only 8 inventory slots were allowed) the game granted like 100,000,000 XP.

I don't want to sound like a hater but Mass Effect doesn't last. Unlike WoW, there is no endgame, where in Mass Effect, you get your achivements and pat yourself on the back. Not to mention the erotic elevator fetish. >.> The creators really liked the use of elevators. BTW, you might get back into WoW in a couple of months. :p In the mean time download Diablo 2, the game may be old, and the grahics may be ugly, but it beats 30 minute rides in elevators.

I enjoyed Fallout 3 more than Mass Effect. A new expansion just came out for Fallout 3. I'll have to go try it out.
