View Full Version : Considering adding more...

Started out w/ an SK, liked it alot...figured I'd add a healbot to follow with the SK and Fury I was easily able to get through Nek castle. Figured, hey why not move my Necro to a 3rd account. Did that and pretty much made it through DFC. So now I'm thinking, geez, why not a full group:) I did most of that by flicking back and forth across the windows. With 6, I think I'm going to have to set up macros and use Innerspace.(I saw the walkthrough on setting that up in the software section, it was WoW specific, Id assume set-up would be identical for EQII?)
But anyway, this is what I have so far:
Shadowknight-50
Fury-48
Necro-50
I was thinking off adding:
-Defiler for the second healer.
-Warlock for the dps.
Both seem to be favoed with the SK for tanking from other threads.
Now the 3rd slot I was thinking off adding Coercer, the opposite of Illusionists, which I see mentioned alot, Illusionist, not Coercer. Also, I haven't yet seen Necros mentioned in a party makeup so.........(I love Necros, I'd hate to have to give it up for successful group short of "i might as well give-up now since I took a Necro in my party cause I'm never going to be a level 70 mob at 80." type thing. ) I wanted to keep the party all evils also (Anonia Bayle is an RP server after all)
I figure I'm going to use all 1 computer, this one could run 5 WoW's w/o effort so gonna see what happens. I have a 2nd computer that could run 5 WoW's but struggle, so I could use it for 2 if I had to w/ a bit more set-up.
Anyone have any suggestions or comments?

Hey Velassra,
An EQ2 specific setup guide would be pyro's found here ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=48859') - there are also additional setup guides found on the EQ2 wiki here ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/mediawiki/index.php/Everquest_II') (down the bottom - software setup guides)
So let's look at your group suggestion:
- SK, fury, def, necro, coer, lock
You like the necro so no worries - always play what you like first and worry 'bout the rest later
IMHO, a quick glance suggests to me your going for a 'kill it, before it kill me' type of group - i.e., high caster dps at the expense of survivability - that's no worries either
There are some points that I have in my head which I'd like you to think about:
- aggro control/management - you 'may' have to come up with a way to ensure the sk always has the mob hate - I say this as you'll only have the sk taunts and the coer hate thingy so it may become an issue later on - especially if you have a whole herd of critting/proccing casters blasting away
- mana management - you may have to ensure your always carry top class drinks and there's a good chance you won't be spamming spells (which isn't a good idea anyway) to save on mana - sure you'll have a coer but you may still have a bit of downtime regenning mana especially if farming
- who's the major mob debuffer / group buffer?
Have you thought about something like:
- SK, fury, def, necro, coer, trouby?
- Yes, your DPS will drop but you will get a great buffer/debuffer, extra mana regen, improved aggro control, run speed, tracking, evac, increased casting speed, increased in combat HP regen, inc def, attk speed, jesters cap plus you get to keep the necro
- sure, a bard is part melee but let's say you slot a trouby in there and they drop a PoM ('http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Perfection_of_the_Maestro') every once in a while...the casters will be gods for a short time and will appreciate it especially if used in conjunction with something like AoM ('http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Aria_of_Magic')
- you may lose out a bit on the AOEs - but the sk still has a few as does the fury
Something to think about Velassra

Thanks for the time Noxxy. I like how you put it: "'kill it, before it kill me' type of group " Wasn't intended to be like that, but that's how it ended up:) I see the advantages with the bard, but I'm going to stick w/ the lock on the first run through. I don't see myself trying to MT anything really so I think the SK w/ the Fury/Defiler should be adequate for tank/heals. Mana regen, I tend to move slow through things anyway....WoW instances, people say they got through in 45 minutes, I'd still be at 90 minutes inot taking my time so figure I'll fall into that same pattern here.
The Hate generation by the SK.....kinda hoping it keeps up, I just don't have the experience in this game to know, but mainly like the SK sine I played one in the EQOA/PS2 version of EQ, so it's one I'm probably very attatched to to the point of inflexibility. Besides, right now anyway while leveling thr 3 I have now, rarely do I lose any aggro to the Necro or Fury.... hoping, that stays the same throughout.
Thanls for the links to the wiki section and the IS thread. Looks like it's gonna require abit more setup than Keyclone did. Though the ISboxer, it looked like it put mouse movements through as well, I don't think KC did that....that legal for EQ2?

Re the software being legal - I honestly don't know as I am a full hardware / vetra boxer - Khat would be the best person to ask
If your reading this Khat do you mind commenting? Thankyou

Here's another link about SoE's stance on multi-boxing. It mentions Keyclone and Innerspace:
[Innerspace] ISBoxer legality with EQ2? ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=181973#post181973')

With keyclone and innerspace running and my 6-box team standing next to me, I have spoken to two GMs (who were standing in front of my team) and multiple Guides. I have reported a number of /lusers who were harassing me. Over nearly two years of running this setup, I have NEVER received any tells or e-mails from anyone at Sony in regards to my 6-boxing. I think they're soo hard pressed for cash, they just really don't care as long as you play nice and by the rules.
My SK just dinged 51... Grouped with my Warden, Troub, Illusionist, Conjy & Wizard, he holds Aggro just fine. I don't think you have anything to worry about. I effectively have to stop fighting and cast 2 ice comets before the wiz will take aggro back.
g'luck

Finally got around to downloading Innerspace. For now, I'm using it w/ Keyclone. I seem to have it set up, very basic atm, with keypresses going from window to window.
I also did my spells last night into macros, there is alot of them, and lining them up on just 3 toons so far is nuts; I can see where there is going to be alot of trial and error getting thee lined up to be more efficient in use. (omg there's alot of spells....and my plan is to add 3 more.)
I was considering going to just straigh hardware, but i'm limited to how much space I have at my work area.....I just don't have the stacking space for 6 PCs and monitors, not to mention enough outlets to power them.....
so what I decided on was 2 PCs, 4 on one PC (already tested on my main system, easy to run 4.) which will be SK, Fury, Defiler and Necro(tank and all heal capable on one PC) and the back computer will have the coercer and warlock(what I'll call my dpsers.) ...............I'm assuming I can run them both off of on keyboard using a KVM something?) But that's for later, right now I'm going to be using 2 keyboards (allthough macros will be lined up as if all on one.)
Rome wasn't built in a day, but they're lucky I wasn't the engineer building it, lol.
