Hello to all. Just wanted to say hi! I am brand new to boxing. I never thought I would be interested in it, but I think I may be hooked, which might be dangerous for me. My dad recently decided to try WoW and I sent him a RAF and he just hasn't had the time to hop on and check it out so I decided to fool around with it for a bit. My first attempt at "boxing" was dumbing down all of my graphic specs and having two windows open at once on my pc. I had one character on follow and the other I just jacked everything with, reaping the exp rewards on both. Well that didn't satisfy me since it was boring and I knew there was much higher potential. I read this site for a full day trying to get some good info on what to do. I ended up downloading HotKeyNet, which might I say at first I was dumbfounded, but this site led me to understand how to use it and last night I spent about 4 hours playing around with it to get it matched up as best as I could. I want to thank everyone for their posts thus far, it was a great help.

I have a quick question though. I read about maximizer and haven't figured out if it works on HKN or not. Having the bars at the top of the screen, plus the screens overlapping is kind of rough. It seems as though the camera is in a different view on one screen than the other and when I use the option for the mouse click clone, its off on the other screen. So, 1. does anyone know how to fix that to make the screens identical, with camera and all that? And 2. Does maximizer work with HKN? I haven't found anything on it.

Welcome!

Maximizer is a part of Keyclone, a paid software product that you can find on this site too. Personally, I don't use it, I just use Hotkeynet.

To get rid of the bars, look at some of the examples for hotkeynet window launching, it shows how to launch and position a wow window without the borders. If you're working on one monitor, you're going to have some overlap or some funny resolutions to get it to fit. Many of us have invested in a 2nd LCD (even a cheap 17" or 19" 4:3 ratio one will do) and put our 2nd WOW on the 2nd monitor.

Camera angle is tough to deal with when the slave is on follow, they're often looking in a different direction. Again this is where the 2nd LCD comes in handy, I can glance at it to see where my slave is looking and adjust where I click to do the mouseclick broadcast accordingly. Still it usually takes me 3-4 clicks with the mouse to get her to pickup a 'gear' object in the world.

IF you're worried about mouse click broadcasting to loot and/or talk to NPC's, you should do a search on these forums for "interact with target", there's many helpful threads about it. It will enable you to command the slave to loot or talk to an NPC without having to send a mouse click to the slave's screen.

Once again, welcome to boxing! This site was what got me started on "true" boxing, prior to that I was of the mindset that boxing still meant two computers, with one keyboard on my lap to control the slave's spells and such LOL.

welcome to the boards!

now i dont want to burst your bubble per say but id strongly recommend against using your fathers account unless all the account info is the same as yours most importantly the names. you will be reported for being a haxor and apparently the first thing they do is check account infos. so it would be highy likely youd try to log in one day to two perma bans...

anyways if you have that all sorted out then good luck and have some fun! :)

If he's under 18 he can use his fathers account.

If the accounts are the same name or he's a minor, its ok for now.
Really though, if the names are different and you've just started, I'd send another RAF to yourself.
At this stage, you can level back up incredibly easily, and down the road all the names are the same.

As far as views go, I've found a macro which you keybind so all the accounts press it at once.
/Script SetView(4);SetView(4)

It is case sensitive. If you do it once, as in nothing after the semi-colon it is a slow zoom out.
With the second SetView in there, it is virtually instant.
I'd also check to see each account has the same settings as far as Camera Follows Terrain etc.

Down the road, if you want to use click-target AoE's like Blizzard, Hurricane, Rain of Fire etc...
It is good for each wow to have the same aspect ratio and the same view.
