currently im using Octopus1.3.2, to multi box my paladin and warlock with raf. would say im experience player, but have just started multi boxing.

concerns

1.often my lock who is following my paladin will often just go in the opposite direction, i often use the mouse to help with movement, could their be some kind of option in octopus i havnt enabled to allow mouse control? or disabled by accident?

2.the lock wont cast his spells unless i go on his screen and select the mob, i have tried this macro

/cast [target=focustarget,harm][] Shadow Bolt

but it still doesnt work if i have my main target as the paladin, have i missed some kind of other macro? or have i made a mistake in the above macro?

i dont know octopus but the macro is wrong.

it should be:

/cast [target=focustarget] Shadow Bolt

u can still put harm there.. but why bother? shadow bolts only work on harm targets. ;)

did u setup on your lock that your paladin is ur focus?

"did u setup on your lock that your paladin is ur focus?"

i assumed by focus it just meant have his portrait beside yours at the top of the screen?

or have a missed soemthing important?

well.. depends u can drag around the "focus frame"

is this what u did?

go to your lock rightclick ur paladin (his frame) then click "set focus"

thats all..

What i do is on each spell i have

/assist main's name
/cast shadowbolt

thats the easiest thing to set up and it works every time.. Now when you get higher you might want to have some changes so you can have even more control, but if you just want him shooting at the guy that ur killing this is golden.

i disagree. using names in ur macros will make sure u can never swich chars around. if u use focus u can use whatever char u want. without using names.

I think the intention was to show the simplest possible setup to help the OP with his problem rather than to start yet another discussion of why focus is such a bad system for assigning a "master" :)

Tiffer, with regard to your movement problem:

I'm not sure what you're alluding to with the comment on using the mouse to help with movement, so I'll ignore that. Post a more detailed description of what you mean if you think the problem lies there.

Have you unbound the movement keys from your clone, or at least added them to the blacklist to make sure they don't get sent over? Check your auto-run button too - that can cause some comic effects if you've forgotten to unbind / blacklist it on your drones.

If you just get this happening occasionally, and apparently randomly, then it's a phenomenon known around here as "the runaways". It's random, has no known reproducible cause and no known cure other than to keep an eye on all your characters and hit a movement key or follow macro to get them back under control when it happens!

No i dont think i have done that, is their some sort of guide on how to do that? or is it simple enough to do?

well to turn my character around iv been used to right clicking the mouse and moving the mouse to make him spin around, however the clone stays stationary and doesnt move, i thought it might affect.

Don't forget to set your aswd and arrow keys on your keyboard in the DO NOT pass list in octopus or else your other toon will go the other way.

Hmm. Sounds like you haven't seen this yet:

You should watch the video - it's a massive help to newcomers.

Do most of you (that use keyclone) place the W,A,S,D keys on the do not pass settings? or maybe the arrow keys as well?

The only keys I have on my do not pass list are tab escape and print screen.
I just unbound WASD on my alts so I could steer freely on my main, and I keep the arrow keys bound on everyone so I can move them all together if I need to, or if I need to control an alt by itself (not in combat) I can pause broadcasting and use the arrow keys in that window.
