About Us

Adhocracy Incorporated is a player group in the MMORPG EVE Online.

In an attempt to define what our Adhocracy is, for those who might be interested in joining our merry band of internet spaceship pilots, here is a mission statement and/or a definition of what our little group "is" (adapted from text written by Lost Wander and Racki Dumatre)

What is an Adhocracy?

Robert H. Waterman, Jr. (via Wikipedia) wrote:

"Any form of organization that cuts across normal bureaucratic lines to capture opportunities, solve problems, and get results."
* ADHC was founded on the principle that a mature group of people can play together without the need for bureaucracy.
* All members of ADHC are expected to be self-sufficient individuals and adults who realize that real life always takes priority.
* We have realized that we all have different aspects of EVE that we enjoy and do not want to be tied to mandatory ops.
* At the same time EVE is more fun when done with friends (just like RL).

ADHC is involved in many aspects of eve:

* Wormhole exploitation (Emphasis)
* Industrial Arm (T2 production and invention)
* PvP operations (anti-pirate)
* Exploration sites
* Mission running

We are "Good guys with guns"

* Anti-pirate, but willing to fight
* No smack-talking
* Treat others with respect
* Consider the impact of your actions on the corp reputation as a whole
* Don't be a jerk. Eve is full of them already, and likely you won't be able to out-jerk them

ADHC may not be the right place for you if you need someone to define respect or what accepted norms of behavior are for a mature individual.

What are other characteristics of an Adhocracy?

Characteristics of an (ADHC) adhocracy:

*Highly organic structure
* Little formalization of behavior
* A tendency to group the specialists in functional units
* Low standardization of procedures, because they stifle innovation
* Roles not clearly defined (in general)
* Selective decentralization
* Power-shifts to specialized teams
* Culture based on democratic and non-bureaucratic work

And perhaps the most important characteristic and/or difference of ADHC:

The core philosophy of ADHC (Stolen from Wikipedia) wrote:
All members of an organization have the authority to make decisions and to take actions affecting the future of the organization with an absence of hierarchy.

If this sounds interesting to you, please contact Racki Dumatre and/or post here with your interests. Applicants should expect to be asked to provide their Limited API key.

Adhocracy Skill Recommendations

The following skills are very helpful to participate effectively as a member of Adhocracy Incorporated. They are not 100% written-in-stone requirements, but are highly recommended for your own enjoyment and ability to participate. Exceptions can be made if you are close to achieving these requirements, or have some other skill set that is particularly helpful.

Ability to fly and T2-fit (excluding weapons) a Battleship (any race)
* T2 armor tank is STRONGLY recommended
* Large remote armor repair is a must, to participate in remote-rep BS fleets
* Fully T2-fit battlecruisers are very nice, for PvP and PvE

Self-sufficient for ISK, you WILL lose ships, and must be able to replace them

General comfort flying in a PvP gang and operating in Lowsec and Nullsec
* tThis includes flying in a small fleet, some facility with using the directional scanner, knowing about gate camps, ability to generate and use safespots, knowledge of aggression timers
* ability and willingness to use TeamSpeak

Adequate probing skills
* As we spend a good amount of time in W-space, having the basics in probing allows you to help find wormhole exits and Sleeper sites
* Even a T1 astrometrics frigate with the more useful probing support skills at III is enough, but you do need to be willing to learn to probe

Mining Skills -- NOT MANDATORY
* Both asteroid mining and gas cloud harvesting accounts for a large part of the potential income in W-space: arkonor, bistot, and crokite are fairly common
* Even the ability to fly a T1 mining-bonused cruiser with T1 mining lasers, or the ability to fit T1 gas harvesters to a cruiser is helpful
* Miners are welcome in ADHC, and good mining skills can make up for lower combat skills

As this is your first and only post I'll go easy.

You've put in a lot of requirements for people who might be interested in joining but you haven't said what benefits they will gain. As far as I can see there's no particular advantage to joining this group so how about letting us know what's on offer for someone who does meet your requirements? Here's a few specific questions:

How many players and corps are in this adhoc group?
Where are you based?
What times do you have active members?
What ships and modules can you build?
Will you offer protection to 0.0 miners?
Whats the tax rate like?

Yeah, I read the thing over and it still didn't make much sense to me. It reads like an internal memo on business philosophy when they let the marketing guys have access to the mailing list.

In EVE corps are basically organised in the same way as in WoW. One player forms the corp and is in absolute control until he gives it to someone else.

Thus there's no way that their 'core philosophy' (All members of an organization have the authority to make decisions and to take actions affecting the future of the organization with an absence of hierarchy) can be carried out - there's always one member who is in charge.

I'd be very surprised if the corp isn't pretty much exactly the same as any other corp except that it offers little or no support to it's members:

This is false, we provide many corp ships to our members including hulks, retrievers, ECM boats, scanning boats, free ammo, free drones, free modules (to a limit)
Everyone works as a team to accomplish goals toward making us ISK and having fun

You've put in a lot of requirements for people who might be interested in joining but you haven't said what benefits they will gain.

For those that participate in wormhole space profits are divided up weekly among members who claim their share. Generally it falls between 90M-150M/wk. We also have a free research POS set up that any corp member can use to further their industrial careers. New ideas on more profitable ventures are always welcome, its Adhocracy!

Additionally these aren't set in stone, but just guidelines to help you have a better time in wormhole space. If you can fly a RR Battleship, you can participate pretty regularly.

If you have any more concerns please keep asking questions. Thanks!
