I figure id share with you the way im quad-boxing my 4 shamans. I call it the slingshot method lol. All 4 of my accounts have some kind of 60+ character on it. So what i do is i quad box with 3 shamans(sitting one out) and one 60+. I just constantly grind instances and it is very good exp. After a run is over whoever has the most exp, sits out and i replace that one with a 60+ they all stay very close in level and instead of asking people to run me through instances i can do it myself :)

I agree with instancing, until you get to the Outlands. Leveling has slowed down quite a bit, at least for me.

I'd pay good money for a modified Kopp/alliance guide that skips all collection quests.

Joanna's levelling guide. Excellent guide btw. I think the Outlands part was a bit hastily thrown together and not quite as good as the Azeroth portion. Don't know if it has been updated since I last saw it.

If I remember correctly the Outlands portion didn't specify whether quests are collection quests or not, just has a map with numbers on it and then it tells you in what sequence to go to numbers to pick up quests / turn in quests / complete quests.

I would love an in-game add-on that shows you information about available quests on a zone-by-zone basis.

Joanna's guide is for Horde and Brian Kopp's is for Alliance, btw.

this is the main problem my brother and I are having, we both five box.

The quests are slow as all hell, since tons oft hem require you to loot something, or harvest something.

Instance grinding the fastest way to level?

or

With the new changes to exp... should we keep up with the quests?

I like to just grind instances. Especially if you have characters in your group that are aspiring tailors, instances are great for cloth.

I've followed Kopp's guide for my priest/warlock group and it's pretty much been smooth. I've levelled before with his guide so I know which quests to skip. A lot has changed in the last 6 months and the've changed the drop rate on a lot of quests. I remember tearing my hair out on the Zangermarsh area because of the low drop rates on the collection quests but it was actually much better this time around.

What I found myelf doing was skipping the short chain quests with large (>10 items with lower drop rates) and replacing them with the elite quests (Nagrand mastery quests for example) which Brian Kopp seems to skip over because they can't be done easily without a group. This way, I'm within 10% of the level that a single player would be at if soloing the quests and blowing through them quickly.

I did the instance grinds early, and like most people say, you're pretty much bored to death doing them. So getting out and doing quests is quite refreshing compared to repeat runs in instances.

Couldn't agree more. I did instance grinds to death and it was giving me serious burnout after getting two teams to just over 40 like that. I've now started following Brian Kopp's guide from around the L37 mark to make up for collection quests and it's soooo refreshing. I've actually discovered some areas of the game I never even saw before in Duskwallow (after 2.5 years I thought I saw it all :O).

Also, if you are new to multiboxing, boosting all the way to 60+ will not give you the practice with "team management" that you'll need in outlands and instances. I've sorted out all my UI and keybindings to a setup that works for me and feels natural now, so I'm really enjoying "going solo" without the support of a 60+.

Both Kopp and Joana are loaded with collection quests. Hell, one of the first quests in Hellfire is to gather 8 ore and 8 wood. That means picking up 80 pieces off the ground for a 5-boxer. No thanks!

But now that I think about it, instancing and questing are probably on par with each other, if you figure in travel time, dealing with gankers, etc. It just seems to take longer in an instance, so monotonous in there.

I generally run an instance once or twice depending on how bad it is *cough* WC *cough* then I go and get all of the quests for said instance and I burn them down.

Running the instance the first few times is more to get a little bit more gear and xp, the only reason I get the quests later is because I don't like the instance grind and if I have the quests it forces me to go and run the instance once more.

that quest is annoying even solo, after my 3rd trip through outlands I didnt ever do it again because the respawn rate is so slow even if you have no competition...

As I didnt spend much time in instances in pre-tbc areas I plan to instance grind my way to the top, Im currently only lvl 8 though. I feel that instances will help raise the learning curve considerably and force me to develope good solid strategies for solo pay when 5 boxing.

I've been using collection quests to help keep everyone even on experience. I took 4 of my boxers to SM along with my lvl 70 and got them all a level. Simply by doing the collection quests which pair up with killing quests I have almost brought all 5 to the same XP level again with very little extra effort.

An Alliance leveling guide is Jame's:

TBH I haven't ever got round to using it because apart from 45-58, I have done most of the alliance side about ten times with different characters. I have a good progression now. :)

Honestly at around 65 or so you'll be completely out of quests, even if you're doing a few collection quests. The best quest guide is really:

1. Install whdb
2. Take every quest in hellfire, then zangar, then terrokar, then nagrand, then bem, then netherstorm, then smv, and prepare to spend some rough spots doing instances or grinding.

Oh nice:) I was using Kopp's guide and the Lightheaded mod, but whdb looks very good.
