So with the announced mount changes in 3.2, I first of all refuse to take my dual-box team (priest/pally) into outland on basic mounts. I don't feel like being dismounted by every boar within 200 yards (their approximate aggro range on a level 60 lol). I also refuse to pay today's price for epic mounts for them when they're going to be 50g in 3.2.

So that means when my team, currently level 53, hits 60 in a week or so, I'm going to have to park them until 3.2 hits (will leave them sitting in Silvermoon so they're right close to the mount trainer for blood elves).

What does that have to do with the thread title? Well, quite simply, I need something to do in the meantime. So I'm going to RAF in a 3rd account and boost 2 (possibly more) sets of alts. The only 80 I have on the horde realm is a hunter. I've already done a time trial in UD Strat and from zone-in to zone-out can do it in 30 mins (a little slower it'll be to move the alts from location to location, but I'll get faster with each successive run). I also figure a hunter is great for UD Strat because I can protect the lowbies from Eye of Naxxramas by putting my pet on Stay and Aggressive, he'll take out anything that comes near them.

But prior to Strat, I need to boost them in SM Cath. I want to know any tips/tricks people can give for efficient (read: fast) full-clears of SM Cath with a hunter. Keep in mind I'm not a prot pally, so I probably can't survive a 1-pull or 2 or even 3-pull...it'll just be too much damage for my mail-wearing hunter who's only "tank" stat is her dodge %.

So why did I ask about rogue too? Well, because if time is remaining on my 3rd account when I'm done boosting two sets of toons on my horde realm, I'm going to transfer my dormant alliance rogue from Nathrezim-PvP to Hydraxis-PvE where I have some friends playing, and use her to boost some lowbies on that realm. I figure Fan of Knives will be an excellent tool to quickly take down a pack, but once again, the rogue is even squishier than the hunter, still have high dodge (but not as high, no Aspect of Dragonhawk), have Evasion to help temporarily boost dodge, but only leather armour.

So? Let's hear it. Tips from anybody experienced using an 80 hunter and/or rogue to full-clear SM Cath in a short amount of time...

EDIT: Also, unfortunately, since my 1st and 2nd accounts already exist and have no RAF, I can't even RAF summon the lowbies to the instances. I have to drag at least one there at run speed with the 80. That's going to be a bitch for the alliance ones, it's a long long walk on foot to SM! I might be able to get my friends to bring appropriate level toons to the meeting stone to do a summon though...

An 80 rogue will absolutely wreck the place with Fan of Knives. I also believe it will proc weapon enchants, if so get 2 x Lifeward and go to town.

Also an 80 hunter should not have any issue with an AoE pet (Gorilla) or whatever. Just do it in 3 pulls it will still be fast.

Cool. My best AoE pet is a Crab with the Thunderstomp talent. Problem is he's only level 75 so he's totally unable to keep aggro off my epicced-out hunter, even if all I do is cast volley. And Lifeward on my rogue's weapons? I'm not that rich lol! She's only got one epic sword (the Thaddius 10M sword), the offhand is just the Wyrmrest Honored one, so neither is worthy of an enchant better than 50AP, which is what they have on them.

Lifeward is quite cheap - 1 dream shard and 4 eternal life. The lifes are a pretty quick farm in Wintergrasp off the lashers, or some dailies and buy off the AH.

I'm not 100% sure it procs off Fan of Knives... but if it does then you'll be invincible.

Bonus: I don't have to replace 50AP on my mainhand Thaddius sword with Lifeward. I still have the level 80 blue mainhand Ebon Blade sword in the bank. I can put Lifeward on that and that'll be fine for boosting with.

Bonus bonus: My rogue is an enchanter with 427 skill. Lifeward costs (I believe) 10 dream shards to buy and requires 425 to learn. My rogue has about a dozen dream shards on her. So I can buy the recipe, learn it, have the dream shard leftover for the enchant and just buy the eternal life's.

Anybody know for certain if Lifeward procs off Fan of Knives? I would only put it on my mainhand weapon, the Ebon Blade sword. I believe special abilities can only proc enchants from your mainhand weapon anyways. But if I'm Fanning 40 targets, and it can proc, I'd pretty much be guaranteed on every cast of FoK to get 5+ heals in :)
