...That other pair of hands that heals us in Arenas :).

I just decided to create this thread to talk about strategy of the arena healer on 5v5.
I currently run with a Priest and I'm really happy. Most of the bad things really come from me but I know there's huge margin for learning all the time.
This thread is intended for everyone with any class of healer to share strategies and discuss about it.

Cheers!

Since your such a good friend, ill drop a post here aswell =]

Well, im currently running with a restoration druid. I have the most succes with him at the moment. I also ran with a furious priest, but he doesn't know that 2v2 isn't the same as 5v5 and isn't a manafight. Also i ran with a paladin and this was okay, only AoE he couldn't outheal and this is a lot better with my druid. Also i like to have the oppertunity to cyclone a healer or paladin from the other team. This really helps a lot with a 3 dps 2 healer team.

My druid just goes stealth cat in every arena except in orgrimmar arena, he just start right away in tree form. Also a nice thing is to check if a healer has any arena archievements (dont look for 2v2 and 3v3 but 5v5). Even if he played with 4 random people he already knows howmuch damage there can come in 5v5, and knows that he doesn't have to hold back and save his mana.

Kind regards,

Hi guys!

Well i haven't been that much active since WotLK came out but, im looking forward to slowly start again, and hopefuly manage something like i did in S4.
My healer is, and always will be (as long as he wants, and we're both in sync) my good friend Strickmabil, a Priest. We both are long time friends and i love to play with him cause i know hes an important piece inside the arena.
I think the priest is the most complete healer for a multibox, great ofensive and defensive tools, and the best one is mass dispell. Sad thing we can't use it more since we just get smashed by retarded AoE to death.
Best thing to keep in mind is that, a great healer won't be ur savior and make ur wins appear, u also have to know how to play with him, and feel what he feels. Many times we're call into a support role and when it starts to work, u know u have a winning team. I recall countless wins where some heals to save my partner dictated our victory.

Anyways, i think that in the 5v5 the Paladin is great, for obviou reasons. If u have great gear and coordination, a Priest is great. If ur at a higher stage and nuking to death everything, a druid is great to play an offensive roll, and as for Shamans, well i really haven't played much with resto's in 5's but, in 2's and 3's their kinda indestructible.

Hope to see u guys climbing, im gonna start trying that soon.

@Totemic: hiding in mines is ghey :P
@Deekhay: watch ur back :D

Been looking for a healer for a week after my last one went on a 3 week vacation, i just started on the top 3v3 teams and started asking holy paladin/priests without a 5v5 team from my server if they would be intrested.

After a while i talked with a guy i been joking around with on our servers irc chat and hes above 2.2k in both 2v2 and 3v3. He also in one of the best guilds on kazzak (wich is pretty good considering we have 30 high end raiding guilds including one who killed alaglon the observer) Not that pve can be compared with pvp in anyway, but its sure nice that he can swap in pve gear to replace alot of his pvp gear.

My last paladin was a disaster and even though i felt my priest was good he never managed to break 1650 in 2v2 or 3v3. The main flaw was that i suddenly just died and it happens in 5v5 alot, the burst is so high that there is simply not much you can do about it. We always talked about what happened and it happened ALOT that he got counter spelled but never said so on vt so i fully assist on healing.

Matches can be determinated alot on how your healers play and not to mention positioning, my old paladin was so buys using his hammer of justice that i often died due to lack of healing. My first priest was very good but i guess i underestimated priests at that time, he had some nice nitro boosts + aoe fear on the enemy healers wich could make killing pretty easy.

Im looking forward to test aura mastery properly(with the pvp trinket only facing can stop someone from eating a full 4x LvB) and having a paladin that use hand of sacrifice and divine sacrifice to migate incomming burst.

Im not sure if the arena changes in 3.2 are good for boxers, i mean you wont get the best 5v5 healers since its realy hard to reach the top compared to the 5v5 teams they can get into. However there are alot of good healers who play at strange times and theese are the ones you need to get your hands on!

This can be a totally stupid idea and I'm not even able to say it should/would work.

It's just a small detail for those working with a priest healer, most of combats don't really last more than 4min.

I was thinking on why not send the priests' shadowfiend as soon as the rush starts (either theirs or ours) into one of their healers.
the goals:

1 - Put some (light) pression on one healer. The pet is easilly killed (note: with glyph restores 5% mana) but it can make the enemy healer lose a bit of concentration, just stop spamming healing our main target (and we know if even just one heal doesn't pass through it can be a condition of being able to down it), be interrupted on casting by the attack or a combination of any of those mentioned;

2 - It gets really mana intensive, at least at our level of gear, that initial confrontation, so the priest just gets mana from the attacks and after the pet dies (5 mins). The priest playing with me gets oom sometimes due to heavy damage suffered by my team even if I help some;

3 - Well, sometimes we don't even use it during the whole fight, so...

What are your insights on this idead?

Cheers!

Does Wokomehee even lasts 10seconds? Strickmabil lasts 5 in a total gibfest stunlock aoe gg :D
Seriously, some arenas are so fast, and sending the priest into the middle of them, i dunno, it better be really fast or he can die in the process. My bet should be sending the priest to cast psychic scream and make them use trinkets.

Played with a new priest today mainly to get 10 matches done but sadly we didnt face anyone geared enough to be a treath.

I relay like his play style as he play realy agressive and he knows his shit. (currently ranked 43 in 3v3)

Using shadow fiend just to do it is abit over the edge, its a nice addition but realy easy to counter since its weak to crowd control. Tbh i feel its best to use for mana regen since its the disc priest 1 source of mana regen in combat.. What ususaly happens and make me win is that after i kill 1 they go defensive and try to ress instead of training me untill my healer is oom. At this time play the purge game and flame shock/chain lightning them to prevent drinking and ressing while you wait untill your healers mana bar is full again.

I guess thats the main goal. Massive nuke, drop one dead and intimidate the other to back off. Thats the way it worked in TBC :)
Thing now is that they dont give a f*** and just rush, and after that its chaos
