Wintergrasp
To provide players with a more transparent notification of when
Wintergrasp battles occur, as well as better control zone population
and stability, several changes have been made. Players now have the option to queue for Wintergrasp from a Wintergrasp Battlemaster in
any capital city or by simply entering the Wintergrasp zone. Queuing will begin 15 minutes before each battle. If chosen, you will
automatically be teleported to the zone. Any players in the zone who
have not been chosen from the queue will be teleported out when the
battle begins. The queue system remains active for the entire battle. As soon as a player leaves, a new one will be chosen from the queue. Trying to enter Wintergrasp during an active battle for which you have not
been chosen will teleport you out. Please note that, as you are now
able to fly over Wintergrasp, you will only be teleported out if you
try to land and join the battle. Level 80 players get higher
priority in the queue than lower level players. In addition, a random
selection of queued players will be taken from both the Battlemasters
and the zone itself. The queue will accept up to 100 players from each faction, resulting in a maximum battle of 200 players at a time.

Possibly, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. It sounds like they're trying to do something about the horrible lag that some realms have.

Yeah I really usually only see like 80+ people from each faction on my server anyways except maybe weekend nights. Even then most people stroll in late to the battleground anyways.
I think this is trying to limit the lag somewhat as well as another problem that has plagued BG's since their inception.

Horde side on CoA have at least 2 raids full before most battles, so guessing it will be hard to get in on my realm

Alliance on my server usually had 4 full raid groups anywhere close to peak time. Horde only has 3, and they only have 18-32 people in each :/
This annoys me. It turns WG into another battle ground. I am curious to see how they are going to do groups? 100 people is 2 1/2 raids. are they going to force people into that? Are they going to change how the quests work?

The end of boxing wg unless all your toons get the que.

if you horde then no worries, if you alliance then you might have to worry.
Also in general since on avg alliance have more scrubs getting into bg in general. Will alliance ever win again?
In addition, a random selection of queued players will be taken from both the Battlemasters and the zone itself.
The word random I think tells alot.

This would be an okay change of they made WG games happen more often but maybe have a 2-3 hour debuff once you've been active in a battle, otherwise it's gonna be the same people over and over in a game I think, even with the random selection process.

100 people, damn I think they should limit it a little more. Last server I was on had some terrible lag and there was nowhere near 100vs100. Easy way to make sure you get in to WG is to play during the day or early mornings. At least you wont miss out on the raids of Vault afterwards.
edit: I bet it is all sorts of fucked up when they implement it too. You fly in and it supposed to TP you out, ya I'm not so sure there wont be a ton of ways to exploit that. They still haven't enabled the flying machines in WG!

Watch. There'll be 100+ people in the zone starting an hour before the matches. This is such a lame fix words escape me.

My server has at most 3 raids on horde for offense, with about 1 raid for alliance. On defense, maybe 1-2 for horde and 2 for alliance. And it lags like all hell, sometimes 5+ seconds for an instant cast,
Don't really see how a 120 person queue system will solve anything if it already lags with 80

I think its the large servers that are overwhelming the server clusters, not small ones with only one or two raids. We can easily fill 4 raids(alliance side) on KJ during primetime and the server slows to a crawl.

Limiting players who get to participate is bad.
But this is really bad because you're going to find yourself going out of your way to *not* play.
Imagine flying to Dalaran or Wintergrasp, disrupting your evening, all for nothing.
At least as a multiboxer, if I queue up 4, I'm pretty sure to get to play at least some.

Seems a shame that the only non instanced zone BG is becoming the same as every other battleground. I think they need to address the lag, but this feels like the wrong way to do it.
As for giving 80s priority, just another indication that leveling is dead. I don't mind that almost 90% of all the content is limited to end game, but it does make leveling a character from 60 or even 70 less appealing.

Remember though that WG is still one server only, one of the reasons I like it so much. I get to kill people I know vs randoms from other servers :)

right now wintergasp lags really bad on my server so I see this as a good thing per say, only time will tell if it's not. I hate tenacity so maybe they will eliminate it.

Actually I don't mind the fact it gives lvl 80's priority - so many battles I've seen scrubby level 70's running around leeching honor and marks.
Not having all my toons get into a WG battle is a big concern though...along with not having all my guys in the same group. :(

I'm not scrubby ;) My general strat if I'm below level cap is to man a turret since my level doesn't affect turret damage or health, or at least it didn't used to. Add in the fact that I can aim well and know how to lead targets and I'm confident I help more than hurt.
