ST vs SM at 41+

So, boosting 4 toons with RAF, been doing SM mostly, but went to test ST at 35 - At 35 SM was way better xp for me (no numbers, just a feeling) - But now since 40, it's starting to feel slow in SM - Would ST be worth the extra hassle of running into the 'reset limit' faster? Or just stay in SM?

I have not boasted in ST since last year when they removed or they lowered the exp for killing the skeletons. However, I never stayed in SM after level 40. It just seem to not be worth the time. However, this was pre RAF and pre triple exsperence. For me 40 to 60 goes pretty fast. I generall just hit Tanaris and stay there for awhile. The quest are pretty easy and I love ZF one of my favorite instances in the game.

I'll second that, at 40 I'd take them to Tanaris and stay there until 45 and then head to Scholo/Strat.

Even with th dismount thing? Or are you talking about questing?

ZF is still viable even without a mount. the pulls are still doable dismounted just like before except the xp might come in a little slower because of this. i used to do 35-45 in ZF, 7 resets or so for about 2hrs, this may nearly double because of dismounting shot :thumbdown:

I usually use a Feral druid and pull most of the instance at once, I run in tavel and hit every mob i can on the ring and then go straight to the stairs event and mana / HP up and then reset.

I use an 80 mage (frost, in PvP gear) to do 2 pulls ... First one is the main "corridor" (up to the point where it forks so u can go either left or right). I can usually ride all the way in and start the pull there, blinking my way out while Ice Lancing mobs. Second pull I ride to the big pool (left at the fork) and start gathering them up there ... this one sometimes fails as I'll get hexxed, but 9/10 it's fine. I don't go any further than that, just exit, reset, and do again. Will quickly hit the instances per hour limit, but have plenty of other groups to quest with while waiting so not a problem for me.

Stairs event is freaking awesome. And with RAF you get like crazy ammount of exsperence. That and ZF has like 5 bosses and the pulls are not that bad. Yeah Tanaris is great foe me.

Oh and no mounts. I am not buying a mount till the next patch comes out. Not going to waste the gold.

ST is much better xp/time than SM for L40 and above, maybe even sooner. Just zone in, take a left up to the dragons. With an 80 tank you can pull all the dragonkin/whelps and kill them in 1 go, takes <5 minutes. Then I go grind dailies or ghost ride the whip for the other 40 minutes I'm locked. It takes 3 sets of 5 runs for 40-45ish with RAF. Normally I just like to push through while leveling but this is fast enough that taking a break is acceptable.

I highly suggest doing the instance quests if you are PLing, or heck doing it the normal way, as I turned in a level 25 quest from stockades for 11kxp. That's over a third of the level in one shot. Love that shit!

Yea, even with SM Cath, I found it better to just run it 5x, get locked out and watch an episode of something on Netflix or Hulu than to bounce around and try to avoid it. Same thing happened with SFK and now Sunken Temple. I left SM at 35. 15 levels of that place is enough for me. It was still fast, but time to move on. In ST I do the lower 2 levels that are all the bog men and the dragon level. I dont mess with the troll levels as they are like the asshats in ZF and run away and never come back when they get low on hp. Not worth the time to chase them down. ST is nice because you can leave your toons right at the zone in and get XP from any level as long as you pull to where your standing above or below them.
