So I'm thinking of starting to 5box (don't wanna go any less so I can do full instance runs by myself), is my setup able to do it?

Hardware:
AMD Phenom II X3 7200 2.8GHz Black Edition (overclocked to 3.1GHz)
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4 AM2+/AM2
8GB DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
640GB 7200rpm SATA
XFX Radeon HD 4870 1GB

Windows Vista 64bit

1 Keyboard
1 Mouse
2 Monitors

If its workable, I was thinking of char setups:
2 mages
2 shamans
1 warlock

(I have a 80 ulduar pally, 80 naxxed druid and 80 naxxed warrior that I can use for tanking later)

Any advise? I did 2 boxing awhile ago on an older computer with 2 melee, and it sucked... hoping having 5 casters would be much better.

Ive read through some of the writeups, but there is just so many of them

looks good to me. it's almost exactly like mine, altho i'm running a quad core and not a tri core.

i 5-box and get 20/42 fps without much of a problem. cpu load stays around 50% (if i remember correctly)

I don't think it does, I bought everything back in Feb not thinking I'd need DDR3 at this point.

Specs from newegg:
Number of Memory Slots 4×240pin Memory Standard DDR2 1200/1066
Whether 1200 MHz memory speed is supported depends on the CPU being used Maximum Memory Supported 16GB

Your machine is fine for boxing as long as you stick with low video settings and all sounds off.
