I've got a level 20 Pally and a level 20 Mage that I'm dual-boxing right now. I want to optimize both to be a good AOE Team. I've been told that Prot Pally's are great for AOE tanking and Mages are good for AOE damage (though I'm not sure which spec that is). Could you guys give me some advice as to which talent points to take for this goal? Also, good places to AOE-grind and level up quickly would be nice. Like I said, only level 20 right now (still on RAF though, which is nice).

Thanks!

At 20th, a pally is not the best of AoE tanks.
Not saying a druid or warrior is either.

The key to successful AoE tanking as a pally is a combination of Prot talents.
Holy Shield increases your block rate by a large degree, while it is active.
It then inflicts a lot of damage on the attacking creature for every attack blocked.
As long as your back is not to the attacker you can passively block a lot of attacks.

Consecrate is a very good AoE threat generation tool. Not sure when you pick that up.
You'll either need a fair bit of spell damage, or the Prot talent where you gain 30% of your stamina as spell damage.
Once you have that talent, you won't need any +damage gear, but until then you need some +damage for threat.

Honestly, I'd just quest if these are your only two accounts. Joana/Kopp's guides are phenominal.
Even the free guides like Jaime's will have you leveling very quickly.
If you have friends or a 3rd account which is not linked, group with it and run instances by staying WAY FAR BACK of the action.
And having the higher level toon AoE or repeatedly take one mob after another out.
Boosting is the only thing faster then questing, imo, for RAF leveling.

On the mage, Arcane Explosion is one AoE option. If you want an Arcane/Fire spec for single target power it is respectable AoE.
Frost spec, with points improving frost duration, giving freeze chance, extra damage against frozen target etc, will be the most AoE damage.
You only really need 1/3 points in improved blizzard as a frost mage, so it has a freeze chance.

Although many are going to question my qualifications for giving advise on playing wow I do happen to run a Pal/mage (well 1 prot pal and 7 frost mages all at level 60 plus).

Pal uses conceration for aoe damage and holy wrath. Prot I think it best as it makes a good tank for taking damage.

Mages use arcane explosion (if you are with the pal and not using blizzard at range), or if you fire spec blast wave, but that knocks mobs back which is good or bad I guess.

I would spec the mage frost for pvp:

The Pal is any of the many prot specs available.

You can get the arcane explosion glyph for 10percent mana savings.

Best aoe spots are the wetlands those fast respawning guys fro your level, then the shoreline in swamp of sorrows, then the pirate cove in tenis, then the best level 60 spot in the game by far the seige engineers in EPL.

just read the guy above me; ya the shield is good for pulling (as in exorcisum); also keep retribution aura up and get a "shield spike".

It is true that instant boosting is going to be way faster then grinding; and probably questing will also be much faster if you dont have like 10 or more toons helping you kill, but aoe grinding is the most fun!!!!!!!
