Ok, here's the idea... it's a cross between regions and the hotkey to bring-to-front idea I asked for....

I'm seeing LOTS of boxers playing 1x4 configs or 1x2 configs, etc...

1x4 being one on the main screen and 4 on the second in quarters.
1x2 being one on the main screen and 2 on the second in halves.

So this works great, and if you have huge monitors its even relatively decent... but for those of us on a budget things can be a bit small... 640x512 for example is a smidge on the small side.

So what would be nice is a command bindable hotkey that would bring that instance to a larger region...

So for example I define 6 regions as follows:

Region 1 - Display 0 - 0,0,1280,1024 (Full screen, main monitor)
Region 2-5 - Display 1 - 0,0,640,512 (etc to create 2x2 matrix)
Region 6 - Display 1 - 0,0,1280,1024 (Full screen, 2nd monitor)

Bind F1-F4 to the 4 regions on the 2nd monitor and when you press one it "zooms" that instance to region 6 so it's nice and beefy and you can see it all nice and big... hit the key again and it snaps back to the small region... hit another key and it snaps that one forward (and any other full screen back to the small region).

Ok, now let me state that this is NOT trivial by any means.... if you wanted to get really slick you could animate the movement the same way Windows Vista does when you WindowsTab instead of Alt Tab :).

I agree, this would be nice. Not trivial AT ALL to do of course.

But possible. Maybe even combine it with a new focus macro. Or even make it semi automatic when your "main" dies? (use an in game "isdead" check).

So it could auto rotate the "next" character (or even a random one) into place and change all of the macros accordingly.

My thoughts are this - the hotkey for override passes to the client, so if you still pass these hotkeys you setup a macro on each toon to make it the boss and broadcast that to your alts...

So F1 activates and makes all toons follow/assist your focused window, if F1 is already your focus it returns it to the F0 (no key bound) client which is already fullscreen.

yup... already had that in the pipe... just need to clear my calendar enough to code it

I was about to post this same suggestion. This would definitely be a fantastic feature. I would add a check-box in the maximizer region settings to set a region as the 'primary' one. Only one region may have the 'primary' box checked at a time.

Each non-primary region can be assigned a hotkey (for example F5, F6, F7, F8). When you press the hotkey for that region, the WoW running in that region swaps places and sizes with the one running in the 'primary' region.

You could then bind main-switch macros to the same F5-8 keys.

Not at all easy to implement, but awesome ;)

Including the region swapping/scaling?

The more I think about this the more it just makes me happy in the pants...

I realized that on a 1680x1050 lcd you could run 5 instances and have all that in your immediate field of vision....

One copy running 1280x1050 and then 4 stacked left or right at 400x262, you could fudge those to match up aspect ratios if necessary to keep the image free of distortion...

Say yer froggy and buy a 30" lcd, 2560x1600... 2132x1600 for the main and 4 (almost 5) at 428x321... thats 5 windows at 4:3 ratio... with enough room to leave Keyclone visible so you can see any indicators and on a 30" screen those tiny windows wont be all that tiny!
