I fired up a pair of new RAF accounts to powerlevel up a pair of shamen and priests. There is a spot in Westfall just to the northwest of the Jangolode mine on the beach. This is a spot that way way back in the day I used to level my priest/mage group by 5x wanding these crabs. I could never kill them fast enough to run out. They are truely an instant spawn cluster of mobs. I am useing my L80 druid in these pics. Useing the RAF summon and running from Goldshire to this spot takes less than 5min. I used my iPhone stopwatch to time how long it took to get to level 10 before going to SFK. 46min and 24 seconds they ding level 10. 4.6 min per level. I know most of us quest to 10, but damn this is hard to beat. I had at one point someone else grouped in to loot. it was impossable for them to loot it as fast as I was killing. The druids starfall spell every 90 seconds just ate these things to peices.

Nice! That's a good 30 mins faster than I've ever done 1-10.
Hmmm. There are some Mosshide gnoll camps in Wetlands that are the same insta-pop style, they are level 20-22... they may be even better as the XP won't taper off towards L10. Might even go to 15 there if you like Stockades instead of SFK. It will however be difficult to park really low level toons there as the aggro radius is rather large, but there must be somewhere within XP range and out of aggro radius..

The crabs are non agro level 13-14 mobs. I think there are a total of 8 spawn spots for them by that log on the beach, 4 of them will always be spawned. It did not seem to taper off on the xp at all. Even at level 9 they got 33xp (if i remember right) per kill. Im not sure you could level faster past 10 on outside world mobs unless you could find another spot that was really instant spawn like this. It is Instant, not just fast. The Starfall is what made this go really fast. When that was up 20 crabs died in like 5 seconds as all the spawns are inside the 30yard radius of that spell. I think the last level from 9 to 10 only took about 7 min if I remember right.
I just tab targeted and used Wrath and Starfall (when it was up), when I went oom I used innervate. I had no downtime at all. Just a mass slaughter. The Deadliest Catch guys could learn a thing or two from this lol. Ill have to run around in wetlands and see if there is a nice gnoll camp that will work. Wetlands is on its way to SFK/SM.

Damn you're going to get he who shall not named to boast that mindless mob killing is better than questing...

I tried the whole hunter/warlock pet idea. ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Boosting_with_Pets') to lvl up a shaman i wanted on one account(raf w/trial account)......and it worked great. I chose a pally on the trial account to be able to quickly tag the mob before the pet destroyed it. But i would think using this idea instead of your lvl 80 druid would make 1-10 even faster.

I think this is even worth it as horde if I can get a warlock summon. Thanks for the tip :-)

Anybody able to think of any spots like this around Durotar/Mulgore/Barrens for horde side? I'm gonna eventually be boosting some toons, planning to boost 1-20 in the open world with my 80 hunter just insta-nuking everything with auto-shot (her auto-shot *HITS* non-crit for 1200+). Volley if I see a pack of 'em I can volley all at once.
My first pair will be orc/troll so they'll be starting in Durotar.
My second pair will be tauren/undead so they'll be starting in either Mulgore or Tirisfal (depending on which one does the RAF summon).
*EDIT* I suppose I could use the same spot, just zeppelin to Grom'gol and swim up the coast, but that'd probably burn about 25-30 mins of time getting to the zeppelin, waiting for it, then swimming...so kinda hoping to find something like this in barrens, plus another spot for 10-20 (maybe southern barrens? dunno what's the respawn on those dwarves at bael'dun or whatsamacallit?

There are 'event hotspots' all over northrend that can provide an unlimited supply of mobs. Ive tried moving south from the spot listed above to higher level crabs, but I did not find another spot that was instant spawn.
There is that quest in Dustwallow Marsh that Xinn found where you can kill an unlimited amount of mobs as fast as you can talk to the quest giver. http://www.wowwiki.com/Quest:Mana_Surges Its level 35ish and has a lot of prep work. Its going to be really hard to try and beat an instance after level 10. SFK and SM you can get over a level a run and with a bit of practice you're under the 10min mark per level, they do slow down if you stay past when its time to leave. I agree that if you have to run all over the game world for instant spawn hot spots it will be 30-40min getting there for a 30-40min grind for 5-10 levels.

Well, the Gnoll camp in Wetlands does indeed keep 3 mobs spawned at all times, but XP was not great in a group of just 2 low level alts and there's no good place to park where you won't get the lowbies killed. I think if you were running 4 RAF'd accounts through here then it would go just as quick as Westfall but probably not worth the effort given how far of a hike it is and the aggro issues.

I think they "fixed" the northrend event spots such as they don't give xp anymore; do they ?

The daily quest right below the grizzly pine lodge where you have to kill 10 guys gives XP and Loot for killing them and they are on a super fast respawn to keep the conflict going (the other daily quest mobs in GH dont). Sholizar Basin has that tall green chick who is fighting off the scourge in the lake with flower power and all those mobs that non stop spawn give xp and loot. The Assult by land mobs in Icecrown are on like a 10s respawn. Icecrown has enough mobs all over the place you will never run out of any to kill and are AOE friendly.

o. i suck at hand-leveling 1-10. i doubt ill ever start another toon hehe but tyvm. iirc, the best time in an 'official' competition for who'd get to level 10 first back in patch 1.9 was 1h 5m.
SBJ wins!

You mean the place you wandered in and thought you could solo and then got overwhelmed by all the mage mobs fireballing you. Ya I remember that place and I paid those bitches back later, x2.

I'm not sure this is possible after my run last night with two new RAF toons. I picked 'em up in Durotar at the starting location, and to start I was running around one-shotting the kolkar centaur just outside the start zone (they respawn like mad, sometimes as the corpse falls a new one spawns on top of it). They're L7-8 mobs, which to a level 1 means they're getting the max EXP possible (max exp is that of a mob 5 levels above you). They were only getting 6xp per kill, *with* RAF bonus. After leveling to about 2.5 this way, I ran them back to the start zone and my 80 dropped group. Did a quick few macros and quested with them til level 8 (pretty much just do most of the start zone quests and the crazy RAF exp gets you to 8 ).
Then I went to RFC. Got them one level in the first run then the wife said it was time for bed. So methinks I'm going to be following that route for my next pair...quest the noob zone til 8 then start boosting in RFC.
I plan to do: RFC 8-15
SFK 15-20
SM Cath 20-35
ST 35-45
UD Strat 45-60

This is extra nice if you are going to boost in deadmines at 10, it's right around the corner!

I have been wanting to lvl up a paladin and I do have a lvl 56 warlock. Assuming I make a 2nd new toon what is the best way for my two brand new toons to tag the mob so my lock's pet can go in and cleanup? Should I lvl up the paladin to 4 for Judgement of Light or is a preferred tagging class?
