I have a very strange schedule that gives me only sporadic free time to play the game, which makes grouping with others extremely difficult.

This is why I 5-box, but ultimately it became disappointing to not be able to progress in WoW's end game content.

So I ask, what MMOs out there can be reasonably multiboxed through the end game?

What team are you running with or what problems are you encountering that you are having problems with at end game in WoW? Many people have progressed through Heroics and more and more are boxing raids all the time so WoW can definitely be multiboxed in end game. I would imagine that all mmo's are going to be difficult to box when you first reach end game but will progressively get easier as you gear up and improve upon your own personal skills.

I know for me I rushed to 80 when wotlk first came out with my 1prot warror and 4 ele shammies and was super dismayed when I saw all the differences between wotlk heroics and bc heroics. But now that i've gotten use to alot of the mechanics I can knock out most of the heroics very quickly.

I've finished all Wrath heroics, and geared out in heroic gear.

For scheduling reasons mentioned above, I cannot raid.

You could try pugging a few raids. Having multiple characters at 80 means its not as big a deal when you get saved to a raid with a terrible group. You can just hop on another char and find a better group. By the time you go through all your characters, the raids will have reset.

There are also guilds out there that are more casual about raid times. The guild I'm in does Ulduar regularly and doesn't care about my erratic schedule at all.

EVE, although you have to get pretty creative to do it in PVP.

I'd suggest EVE too as the 'end game' is without end - you can always get bigger/better. Nothing like as exciting as WoW though, it can be a dull game if you don't make an effort.

Please explain to me what I'm missing... Your original post states that you are looking for a game that allows you to multibox to the end game and WoW is not good because ? what?

You stated you have finished all Wrath heroics. I believe that means you are at your end game with a 5-box team in WoW. So the only thing left is using your 5-box team on higher raids that require 10 or 25 man. Yet you can't do that because of your schedule. Your schedule is not going to change if you switch to another game correct? So it would seem you would have the same issue in the other game.

In other games that I've played, there is even less that you can achieve by multiboxing. WoW has the best balance that I've found as far as gear awards to small groups vs gear awards to larger groups. In other words, the gear to the larger groups is not extremely higher than the gear you get from the smaller groups (at the end game instances, i.e. heroics). In one particular game, Everquest, if you didn't raid with high amounts of other players, you got very low end gear compared to the awards of the raid gear. It might be different now, but that's the way it was when I played it.

I guess "schedule" was a bad choice of words. The problem is that although I do have a schedule, it is highly irregular, and can alter at _any_ time. Even if I do find a solid block of time, there's no guarantee against interruptions.

I can't reasonably neglect my duties for a game, nor let raiding cut into my sleep. I also find 10-boxing to be a touch insane even though I can tolerate 5-boxing, probably because I've only dual-boxed before WoW. Maybe one day I'll get over that prejudice, but Fur may be right about it being the cost, at least in part. Looking at a subscription for over $100 a month, that extra digit will make me scrutinize whether WoW is worth the fun that much more.

Check out the EQ2 forum section here. I think it is the next best MMO to box. If you have the PC power to box it, you might give it a try. They have RaF as well and it lasts until your 80.
