I've tried to read between the lines, but I'm afraid I really can't work out what you mean.
What are "read" quests?

I honestly did not understand one word you said.
I don't think red quests give any bonus exp, I'd say they give the same amount of exp as if you did them at the appropriate level.
However, most do-able red quests are instance-related quests (since the quest lvls are not re-tuned when they dropped the level on the quests) so i guess many red quests DO give out more exp than normal, however I think this is more due to the fact they are *big* quests (for example, main-instance kill quest gives like 2x a normal quest's exp)

RED! Of course! Thanks Yarr, it all makes sense now :)
For some reason I had the one quest where you do actually have to read something (a language primer in the Draenai starter area) stuck in my head.

Na im dislexic and icelandic XD and that does not mix well to gether, il try to keep teh text to a minimum at all times :)
Skuggomann, I think your friend is just doing some easy quests above his character level. TO my knowledge, you do not get any extra XP for doing it this way. Some of them just give a lot no matter what. :)

Completing a quest that is red (or orange) does give more XP. Much like killing a mob that is red (or orange) and how green mobs / quests give less.
I'll try to find a link that goes over this, but I remember in the original guides it would list "Max XP / Average XP / Lowest XP" for all the quests. Granted, that was from when WoW first came out though.
Some links

Quest XP

There was also a little trick I used to power level a toon of mine.
If a mob is green to someone, and red (even skull) to you, if you tag it solo, and they kill it, you get full rewards (XP & Loot). The XP does not degrade as normal gain rules.
I did this with my hunter some time ago and got, on average, 1 level an hour for my earily 50s by farming the red dragonkin in BS (I think - the ones for the Alliance Ony chain begining).
