A quick search on the RoM forums yields a scary amount of boxing hate. So after some digging. I found this thread:

http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=11076

On page 4, Post 38, GM Pluto says:
Well Im going to have to change my veiw on this situation at hand because they have changed the EULA since release. Read the EULA Here ('http://us.runesofmagic.com/eula.html') No where in the EULA (anymore) does it say you can only Install/Operate one client on a standalone PC. But as stated previously if you are found running a scripted Multi-client, then it is considered botting. Sorry for any confusion.

But be forwarned this can be changed at anytime also mentioned in the EULA. My concern here is that a lot of people are saying Multiboxing is fine, Multiclient (More than 1 client on 1 PC) ISN'T. This GM post seems to override this. I also went through the ToS and the only thing I could find about multiple accounts was that 1 credit card could only be used for purchases of up to 5 accounts. I'm planning on running 5 accounts across 4 computers. So what they're calling Multiclienting is going to be an important part of my set up. The GMs also seem a bit...immature. Maybe I'm too used to the political correct Blizzard posters dancing around what they are saying.

As of 10/2/09, multi-boxing is not allowed per the Runes of Magic ToS.

Section 2.D.
You may access the System and use it to play the Game from any single computer or game platform. You shall not access the System or play the Game concurrently on different computers and/or game platforms.

The biggest problem is that they will not provide any comments when asked about it.

When I suggested that you can "multibox" from a single PC with keyclone, they banned me from the forums.

When I logged on my other account to ask why they banned me, they banned me again.

Here's what those geniuses said:

Hello,
Please do not post information in the forums that allows players to use programs that subvert the rules.
Your post was deleted and then you re-posted the information again. Informing players how to multi-box using "Keyclone" is not allowed since the ToS states that multi-boxing is no longer allowed.
Thanks,

With kind regards

My response to that:

Why couldn't you just answer the thread? EVERYBODY is waiting for that answer.

The ToS states that you may not play the game, concurrently, on more than 1 computer. It does not say you may not play 5 characters from a single computer, does it? If so, please copy/paste that part.

Their response:

Hello,
Thanks for using Frogster-America support system!
Enjoy Runes of Magic and happy gaming!
Sincerely,

Edit: For those who want to know who banned me from the forums... It was GM Ikarii.

Wow with GM support like that, I don't think I will ever try this game even as a single player.

Farleito: Is there a CS number you can call? I would do that and ask to speak to a manager.

I have had no luck trying to contact their community manager.

Believe me...their customer service is actually worse than it seems. They have closed all threads that mention "boxing". They will not answer any questions. One of their GM's made a backhanded comment when I said I wanted to give him a chance to explain his reasons for banning me before I wrote a review of the game.

If you want to play this game, yes, you should check with a lawyer first.

A few nights ago, some of the staff (Tenmei) posted his view on the acceptability of multiboxing - basically saying it was not allowed - and that thread was deleted.

Another staff member posted another thread, recapping what Tenmei said and -that- was deleted too.

There is very little evidence of any of this because they keep deleting threads and banning people.

I don't play Runes of Magic, but this kinda reminds me of the customer service Verant used to provide when they ran everquest, good times. Kind of a "Hear no evil, see no evil" policy, with GMs enforcing every which way they see fit.

Anyway, not giving any clear answers regarding stuff like this, or even banning multiboxing alltogether in a MMO has got to hurt business.

No thanks! LOL.. I don't want to get another account banned from the forums!

It's pretty much answered in the ToS:

You shall not access the System or play the Game concurrently on different computers...

hehe this is being discussed on eu forums since they don't delete posts there at least not yet and here is where on page 6 he does close the subject but says they have no plans to change there tos to say no multiboxing you can read it here i am putting in page 6 as this is there the community manager stepped in and said what there doing. there also going to talk to people who run us servers about it
http://forum.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=96940&highlight=multiboxing&page=6
So if you do play you may want to play on eu servers since its allowed there. I kinda think they will talk us out of it to eventually though cause it could cost them a lot of players. I don't really think they know dif between botting and real multiboxing either from what i read above here :)
