So, I thought I'd better show off my rig as I haven't yet. I'm going to move the 19" lcd on the iMac over to my main rig for when I box, otherwise it's staying over there for my work productivity. What do you think of it?

Image way to huge to post it directly here. Before I actually buy the software though I may go buy another 22" LCD and have a permanent dual 22" setup on my main rig so I won't have to switch out the 19" lcd any.

More pictures, including front/back of the rack, computer alcove, and specs on all the machines! More detail on the machine/cabling would be neat as well.

I kid on the machine specs, looks like a nice little rat's nest you've got going. :)

All my pics are at http://photos.bryceeason.net/workstation%205_29_09/

The rig on the back desk near the 22" lcd:

Intel C2D E8400 @ 4.2ghz OC'd
nVidia GeForce GTX260 Core 216
GSKILL 4x 2gb DDR2 1066 RAM
SoundBlaster AugidyX2 sound card
Logitech X-530 5.1 speakers
Scythe Ninja 120mm heatsink
Corsair HX520 520w PSU
CD/DVD Burner
750gb Seagate
My OCZ Vertex 30gb SSD and 4x WD Black 640gb drives are on their way YAY

the iMac and eMac are just some default Apple hardware that the boss gave me for work, same for the rack. Those external hard drives in the rack equal up to almost 5tb of space.

And the server on the floor is an old Compaq ProLiant 5500, 4 processors 550mhz, 1gb RAM, 180gb disk space in RAID 5. Just had one of the drives die on me a few days ago :( I think it's good for $30 I got it for lol.

Aren't racks like $700+ though? I would love to get a few racks and setup all my computers and equipment on them. It'd get everything off the desks and such.

I'm a horrible surplus hunter, I get to impatient and end up buying it at retail price lol.

Come on man. You need to clean those cables up. That would drive me frickin' crazy. Get some wraps and run group all together as much as possible.

I built a rack for 400ish out of angle iron. (could also make one out of wood; possibly cheaper.) its another option if ya cant find a surplus rack. Theres pictures around here somewhere of the DIY rack. (admittedly, I got the idea from a website, deadlycomputer.)

Ewwww two cores? I hope you don't 5box. Get an i7/phenom x4 2I can 6 box fine on my E8400. I have the main screen on max settings and the slaves on just above the lowest setting and it's fine. I probably can't do anything like Daralan, but I'm a ways off from there. I do hope I can get back into this in a month or so because I really loved it :(

An i7 is a waste of cash on just gaming. Any quad or duo OC'd can match it in gaming just fine. So, unless you got the cash go for it. Wanna give me one for free and then I'll use it XD.
