View Full Version : DANGER, Stay Away! Can this be viable?

I play on a PvP server. I currently play a Pally+4xshaman, nearly 61. I don't know what it is but I seem to have a big red "PLEASE TRY GANK ME" sign flashing over my head. This is getting really annoying now to the point where I am thinking of changing my group entirely to hopefully put a big red "DANGER STAY AWAY" sign, but still be very viable for PvE heroics at level 80 and some BG stuff.

Owltoid has mentioned the 5 x druid group but from my searching I don't think this is a proven combination for PvE heroics as well as discouraging people from attacking me while levelling - or am I wrong?

How about Pally + Priest + 3xWarlocks - would this meet my requirements?

(There is a lot of info on warlocks in a group but almost all of it is pre-WotLK, so looking for some current opinions)

The Moo's multiboxing Utgarde Pinnacle ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=22375')
The Moo's multiboxing Oculus ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=22342')

Considering oculus and UP are widely accepted as the hardest to box, I'd say 5 druids is quite proven for heroics.

True, but I don't think I made myself completely clear - I am not looking for JUST a heroic capable group, as the title of this thread indicates, (My current combo is already heroic capable) I am ALSO looking to discourage gankers and still be heroic capable.

People used to not want to mess with warlocks, I have no idea if that is still true and can I have a group that will serve the 2 functions I mentioned above?

Are you talking about ganking when leveling or ganking when you're 80? If someone is brave enough to jump into five level 80 druids, then I'm pretty sure they're brave enough to jump into any five man group (ok, maybe not pallys or DKs). If you're talking about being ganked when leveling, then just seeing five lower levels in one spot is going to be hard to resist regardless of the group make-up. The nice part about druids is it's a bit more difficult for them to camp you since you can stealth.

Ganking while levelling is something I would like to try minimize. I don't think ganking at level 80 is much of a problem for most multi boxers - but I don't know since I don't have any level 80's :)

In that case I think you're screwed regardless of your class make-up. If someone sees 5 level 72's, chances are they're going to gank you if they're in the mood.

For me, when I played on a PvP server, the only class I'd go out of my way to gank were rogues. I figure that class is built for getting the jump on someone, so they always need a taste of their own medicine.

5 druids works just fine for pve heroics, and while leveling if you have any doubts about the zone stay stealthed in cat form whenever possible.

When I went through there hellfire was full of pvp action, but once I got to 64-65 or so I was left alone. This might just be a temporary thing.

My Pally plus 4x Shammy group still has the peculiarity of having idiots try to gank me (they are solo). I think they think I'm a bot? or maybe that their screen is messed up (since my shammies are all same name with different 'a' - hard to tell when they are standing on top of each other).

At level 80 it only gets interesting when they start calling in friends and soon I have 20 people camping me :)

Thats when I move to my second team and level for awhile..

I had the same problem while levelling but it seemed to come in bursts and honestly... I wasn't really ganked anymore while levelling my team than I was while levelling my solo characters. It just seemed more frustrating for me with the team.

I say wait until you are out of Hellfire before you throw those 60 levels away. I think you will have it with whatever group you have, but my next group will be droods.

Sorry buddy your gonna get it regardless of what you go with, that's the name of the game. If you box your prime gank territory so either learn to live with it or reroll/xfer to PVE realm. I am on PVP realm and I had the same issue when trying to level my team, they love to see boxers and gank them, I had many 80's gank me when I was leveling through the 50's, 60s, and 70's.

are you allowed to complain about being ganked when youre on a pvp realm?

just grind lvl 1 boars in the safe zone till your max level :)

i think druids would be good though im always hearing about how hard they are to kill... but i dont think i would change from the current team.

edit: realised i didnt provide any insight :whistling:

Not necessarily a cheap option, but if ganking bothers you, transfer to a PvE realm.
If you have your heart set on PvP realms, you could transfer back post 80th, now that they allow PvE to PvP transfers.

Pally and 4x Shamans are a good mix for PvE and PvP.
You have the whole totem farm down, for strong resistances to a lot of things.
You have a lot of stuns between Fire Nova, Thunder Storm, Hammer of Justice.
You have roots on castsquences via Earthbind. Kings for the team gives the shammies more health.

Assuming your assist method allows any toon to lead as well as any other, ganking you will be painful.
If you wanted.. drop 4x Fire Elemental Totems and chain heal your toons.

Just level in instances if it bothers you. in a few levels you will start being able to take on more and more 80s with your team. I almost killed a 80 pally outside of blood furnace when my team of DK and 4x Ele Shaman were 63 or so, he ended up running away alive, but he had to use up his bubble AND his Lay on Hands before doing so.... and I was just getting warmed up, just barely had totems down, etc.

With my mages, I was much more squishy, and if I didn't cast first, i'd be down a mage or 2. Now that im geared, i can take more hits, and can more easily instagib people. Plus having a prot pally with nearly 30k HP buffed, I make an excellent meat shield that doesnt die, can silence casters with my frisbee, and can stun... And I'm not even set up for PvP, badmacros, keybinds, etc.

Stick with it. It gets better. at 75 no 80 should ever be able to gank u. (lavaburst ftw!)

honestly it happens, even though i play on a PVE realm it happens to me. Like mentioned above; its the life of a boxer, they see us and they want to kill us. They think we are a bot or they just want to see if they can just take us out.

Extra advice, Be careful if you do go or are on a PVE realm, as quest that require you kill the oppossing faction player/npc will enable you pvp. either avoid the quest, or enjoy getting camped!

Good luck with your team!

Thanks for all the helpful and friendly advice, I honestly expected more posts about how I shouldn't complain because I am on a PvP server but I think I only had 1 :)

The reason I play on a pvp server is really because my friends play here, but I didn't know one could transfer from a PvE server to a PvP server so levelling on a PvE server and transferring back is a possibility I may consider.

I have decided to do 2 things:
1. Continue with my Pally and 4xShaman
2. Start a 5xdruid team just to see what its like and to level while waiting for rested XP on the first team.

Also it would be a pity to let RAF run out without geting some more benefit from it!

Definitely RAF up every team you'd consider as possibly fun.
It is so easy to get anything to 60 during the RAF period.
You might not use them all immediately, but it sure beats getting them to 60th after RAF.

If you want to do the server transfers, it's expensive.
$25 usd per toon. That's each way.
Also be aware, after moving a toon, that toon cannot be moved again for... I believe 3 months but it might be 1 month.

If you're under the RAF time still, it might be better off leveling a new team and transfer once.

Blizz initially said they'd never allow PvE --> PvP transfers.
But then they said Paladins would never be available to the horde.
And Shamans would never be available to the alliance.
Times change, and Blizz adapts to whatever makes them the most bucks.

Your group is fine. That 60-70 range is when I got ganked the most. I remember being a fresh 60 and level 80 Horde could just fly right into town and kill you easy sauce as the NPC guards just sat there at -20 levels of agro range. It was for me the most frustrating set of levels because of this. Once I hit 64 with my group I was able to put up a real fight and actualy manged to kill a few 80's but no where near as I was getting beat. By 70 I was untouchable except by very very few. Tough it out, makeing a new group wont help, leveling will.
