Eh, I ended up giving my Rockband away to a friend and his wife. You know how hard it is to play a game that isnt a MMO now? Yea, lasts about an hour before boredom hits. Not even the Beatles can save me!

I dont really get it though.

I will (likely) get flamed for this but Im not a huge Beatles fan.

Pros of the game:
- They have a lot of popular music that a lot of people know (even young people due to commercials and just pervasiveness of the inescapible Beatlemania).
- Older people can relate more to the music and will be more interested

Con:
- Correct me if im wrong but isnt the majority of beatles music pretty simplistic?

Listen to Abbey Road. There is a lot of good complex compositions on that album. This is all due to the Beatles producer, George Martin, who was a traditionally trained orchestral composer (or similar). He brought in arrangements for the fab four's demos that made the Beatles stand out. This is what made the Beatles different from all the carbon copy early 60's bands. All this magic was studio bound though because I don't think they had too great a stage presence (reproducing the studio sound), aside from the initial splash on US media. IMHO.

I love the Beatles. I'm 28. So i wasn't around for Beatlemania. For their music to still be so relevant today really, really says a lot.

I truly appreciate what the Beatles did for music, dont get me wrong.... but I agree. I am highly musical, a percussionist and guitar player, and I have always found most of the beatles music to be mind numbingly boring. Especially the earlier bubble gum pop crap. The more intellectual later works were interesting... but still boring from a music theory standpoint.

Took the words right out of my mouth asonimie. Completely pissed they did this instead of just making Rock Band 3. I love drumming in Rock Band, so I know this game would bore me to death. I don't like the Beatles at all and when I have to play songs I don't like in Rock Band, it is excruciating (any Jane's Addiction songs, AC/DC, KISS...bleh!).

On the other hand Rock Band introduced me to bands I thought I wouldn't like, but now do. I used to dislike The Rolling Stones, but after drumming it a lot in Rock Band, I really like their song "Gimme Shelter". I never thought I would ever enjoy Boston, but "Long time" is a great song, the intro is crazy too. Elvis Costello's "Pump it Up" is fun to play and not too bad to listen too either. I could go on......

I wish they would just remove the Clash, Janes addiction, AC/DC, etc etc... and do more songs like Coheed, Mountain, some STP would be nice, etc etc.

Figures we agree on music however Doz... seeing as I'm prolly one of only peeps who recognized your signature the moment I saw it. They formed my whole perspective on music ever since I first heard Aenema.

It's too bad the only Tool songs are in Guitar Hero World Tour. That game has the weirdest hit detection on drums, and not to mention looks horrible compared to Rock Band. *sigh*

Sure the Beatles music seems simplistic now...but back then it was considered revolutionary. Actually Sgt Pepper's was one of the first albums I ever listened to...when I was just getting into music and discovered my parents record collection. :)

Cheers,
S.

All your Rock Band are belong to me. Highly recommend this sort of setup over the toy drum kit that comes with the game

I agree with Stealthy. What younger folks tend to overlook is the foundation that their music is built on is going to be more simplistic and, generally, more conservative in nature.

2010 Camaro SS 422 HP, 0-60 in 4.9 and 13.4 1/4 mile
1969 Camaro SS 300 HP, 0-60 in 8.0 and 15.4 1/4 mile

50 years is a lot of evolution, especially in music. Besides, The Beatles were built to sell albums. You do this with simple music you can dance to and sing in the shower.

I just liked the video...

Too bad they had to go and remove it... *sigh*
