View Full Version : Not the leader of a bg? /afk

I've been having more and more issues with not getting leader of BGs, especially AV and not being able to get my group fixed. No matter how politely you ask, it seems like the task of fixing a group, or the notion of passing leader is beyond just about everyone I meet in bgs.

I play a holy priest \ 4 warlock combo and not being in a group totally fucks me. No POH. Circle of healing messed up. I'd rather not even play. If I'm in a 15 man bg and the leader won't fix my group or let me do it, I just camp a graveyard until we get 5 capped.

What's the answer to this? I'm not a fan of AFKing or throwing games, but it's totally unenjoyable to me not to be able to play correctly. :\

I dont see how your not getting leader. If your the leader of your party and Q for a PVP area when you enter you should get leader. But it does not work in AV.

I'm definitely queueing with the party leader, clicking accept quickly, and not getting leader.

how come?

I think BG leader is given to the first person who gets in the queue to the BG before others or maybe it is even random.

in the "old" system it was, the player with highest ranking, even when the "high warlord" player was the last joiner.

i believe av atm is the fastest joiner, and ab/wsg/eots still is highest ranked

Yeah, AV is a pain sometimes. Helps to be the Zins, politely send a tell to be leader for them to give you leader and also helps to be ex Warlord. Also, join at the SAME exact time. If you load up at the same time, your chances of being in the same rough order are higher. Also, don't join right away as everybody else is too - this spreads your characters into 5 groups.

Also be sure to que with your leader for another BG (like WSG) such that you can invite yourself out if it all fails.

Something I've noticed when joining BGs (AV excluded because I don't pay attention there as much), even as solo or with my friend. The leader often changes as more people join before the event starts.

I've been leader a number of times in my party with my friend, get into the BG and she's the leader, and as other people come in, the lead gets passed off.

So, part of the problem is that people may not realise that they're the leader (something that shouldn't be an issues I'd say level 40+). Or if they are the leader, may not even know how to move people around in raid groups (another thing I've noticed is very common).

I'd suggest maybe a macro asking whoever is leader to put all your toons in something like group 8. "I am a multiboxer and will you please put the following toons into group 8: Toon1, Toon2, Toon3, Toon4, Toon5."

The follow method I use doesn't depend so much on group but just works based on name. It's a bit of code but I'll see if I can't work it into a nicer format for public release.

It doesn't help the issues with folks like me who use party1target for their macro targets, but once I get into pvp bigger than 3v3 or 5v5 where I have total control I'll have to reconsider that.

I use specific names rather than the partyN format too, and started posting a response to that effect.

Then I realised that it's AoE healing for his team that he was trying to fix, and that does indeed need the whole team in the same party :(

For anything but AV wait for about a minute before you join into the game, whoever the last person that joins the game is the leader. This should put you all in the same group as hopefully everyone else is in, or if not you'll have leader anyways.

For AV, either use pre-made AV enabler and set it to automate hoping you manage to be the first person in the game ( which keeps you as lead ) or do as others have suggested and simply ask the lead to put you in the same group, which I have found is sometimes hit or miss - but still have to ask.

Often I've also found that the guy with the leader tag wants nothing to do with it, ask if they will pass it to you, take the lead, form up the groups, etc.

I have found that VERY often, people just don't know how to rearrange groups.

do people still afk and leech with afk-report system?

Yes, it's about half as bad as it used to be, but it's slowly taking over again.

Yep. The report system requires too much effort.

I admit that when I'm raiding with my main I'll half-afk/half-play on AV another account and I've never been flagged afk. Not even the few times I actually do afk out during a boss fight when I forget to move the alt to keep him active.

You have GOT to be kidding. How intuitive does drag-n-drop have to be? /boggle

With Automaton's autojoin feature, I'm always the first five players into the battleground. I've occasionally ended up with one or two in a different group, but one of my characters is always leader.

How do you avoid winding up in the wrong AV on some characters? Or do you not do that for AV?

Remote

Yeah, can't do it in AV. Forgot to add that to my post.

The only time i have this problem is when the raid leader is a honor bot, since they autoqueue and are usually the first person in the raid. Which is about 50 percent of the time if i do avs past 1am. I find that you have to send a whisper to the person, asking in the /bg channel doesn't seem to work, and it is important to ask if they will move you before asking if they will promote you to leader. It seems that some people get off on being a raid leader and they get upset if you ask them to hand it over, even though it really means nothing... It also helps to tell them the group number your main is in, I usually whisper something like "would you mind moving all of the characters with the name <name> into the same group or promoting me to leader? I'm in group 5." Works every time, unless of course it's an honor bot then you're sol.

in WSG and AB atleast the leader is the last person of the largest 'join as group' in the queue to enter the game. Ive gotten yelled at a few times on my hunter for not realizing im the leader when doing guild bgs (since we are usually atleast 5) in AV i think its the first to join, I assume eots is the same as wsg/ab but cant say for sure.

It used to be the person with the highest rank but that was changed when they removed the ranking system.
