The Girls are Back Together! Kinda...

I re-subb'd my other 3 accounts and was looking forward to some 5-pally Northrend instances to level up. My Prot and Holy Pallies are level 80, so I figured this should go well. Turns out my undergeared Holy Pally doesn't heal worth a darn (especially with no real AOE Healing). To fix this, I swapped in my 80 priest (fortunately I was smart enough to plan ahead and put my healers on one account). Since I've been good about putting my buttons for heals in the same place, it was a fast switch.

Instances are going well, but XP seems slow due to two 80's in the group. The 74 Ret Pallies are making slow progress. Also their dps is abysmal due to their level and gear and that doesn't help much. My Prot pally puts out about 1200 dps in regular Violet Hold. The Rets are putting out about 600 each. My priest has a lot of mana so I'm doing a little dps on her too.

Anyway, it's slow going. I can't imagine doing the quests in Northrend again. I've leveled up my Hunter/Priest and my Prot/Holy and don't want to go through that again. Any one else finding instances in Northrend to be slow? I could use advice for how to make this less painful.

I would spend some gold getting the rets some blue gear from ah. Their dps seems really low and better gear, maybe a few tweeks to your rotations might help.

I'd say half of their gear is blue. I think the low level gear though is pretty bad, compared to the blues you get in the high 70's. Here's one of the three, they have pretty much the same gear on all 3. http://armorylite.com/us/hydraxis/aelynda

Once they get to 78ish there should be a lot better gear available, I hope.

I see I really need to work on those. I hate to enchant gear that is going to be thrown away, but maybe it'll help.

Just go 1xProt 4x Ret

JoL and 4xDS is more than enough AOE for most AOE encounters. Since Judgements no longer stack you may have to actually hit that FoL button a few times on the extremely AOE intense fights :P

I'm telling you right now, quite a few bosses i don't even have to directly heal anyone, including my tank!

Also, get that blue Axe out of boren tundra, that'll help quite a bit with your dps. Melee's biggest dps boost is always their wep.

I'm not at home, so I can't verify it exactly. The way I have it set up right now, when I use an ability on my Tank, the same button uses an ability with about the same Cd on the Rets. Would I be better off using a cast sequence macro for them? I have a cast sequence set up for my tank but I've never really used it. I just use my abilities manually.
Keys 1 through 9 are Tank and DPS abilities
Keys 0 through are healing

yeah rotations need to be known cause im getting 800 dps on my solo lvl 72 ret pally in equivalent gear.

rotations on pallies are rough though cause abilities are a first come first serve basis it seems.
my general rotations are:
single target -- JoW>consecrate>CS>DS>judge again>CS>HoW and usually dead by then. about 750-800dps give or take

multiple target -- JoW>consecrate>DS>Holy Wrath>CS> then it gets hairy cause of the wild cooldowns...

i use JoW, seal of wisdom, and blessing of wisdom so i dont have to ever stop for mana, and i use ret aura for some extra damage.

admitedly thats not in instances but i can take down world elites of equal level solo with about 700dps due to heals thrown in. so 600 does sound a bit low, but as i havent multiboxed a ret pally i dont know about the MB friendly rotations i was just trying to give something to base off of :)

20 hit would hurt you, you are doing violet hold

- Upgrade the axes either with the one from UK or the blue axe quest in north east BT

- Libram, south of grizzly in the pvp area you can get a nice libram to use while levelling (dont forget to turn the flag to the right faction when you are done and wait for the salesmen)

if you can, make a combatlog and upload it to WWS stats, we can take a peek at what the dmg is doing right/wrong.

(and conceirning rotation, tbh, make a big castrandom macro with all offensive spells, buy this mouse http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mice_pointers/mice/devices/130&cl=nl,nl bind the macro the the mousewheel, sit back + relax)

forgot to add, use seal of the martyr combined with JoL, martyr = more dmg vs command, unless you go oom too fast, but i doubt it sinds rets at that lvl hardly run oom
