View Full Version : Character bindings and minor issues

Hi all, I'm one of _those_ guys who's been lured to multiboxing with the draw of r-a-f. Yes, I know I'm late, I had managed to break the WoW habit till my guild drew me back in and I've been focusing on my single main. Now that he's happily Ulduar-25 ready though, I've hit the bottle ...I mean alts, again!

I've gotten myself a trial account while I work all of the neglected ones and their counterparts up to 20, and since I'm only dual boxing I've managed to set myself up a simplified version of the ltr system where, because there are only two party members, the master will always be "party1" to the slave, which has let me use macros that aren't character specific.

I use Bindpad to create these macros, a very simple /assist Party1; /click ActionButton1 etc combo which are assigned to various modifiers of the Insert to Page Down keys, and pass the buttons I use for those action slots on the main to the corresponding combo on the slave. This lets me leave the macros exactly the same on all chars (my invite macro just invites every toon on the other account!) and will cast whatever spell is in the action button on the target of the character I'm playing.

Herein lies my first very minor issue - for the sake of /played time I'd like to import the bindings of those macros across characters outside of WoW, but for the life of me I can't seem to get it to take! I've copied the Bindings folder for the account and for a character who has it all set up across, but I load up another toon and hmph, no bindings! Nothing major, just an annoyance because it's not perfect! If anyone can offer advice on why this is though, it'd be appreciated; I'd like to be able to offer some of my guildies an easy setup and just send them a few files to get up and running easily.

I'm also using Jamba (awesome addon by the way, especially with the new Interact function Blizz added!) and have had a couple of issues, mainly the push to members option not working, though from another thread I think it's likely that I'm trying it too soon after changing the master - will check that when I get home, but again a way to copy settings across characters by file copying would be cool. Haven't really gotten into anything more advanced than the auto accept/complete quests yet though.

Final question - a friend of mine uses Keyclone and says it's much easier, but mentioned something about not being able to pass alt modifiers, and I read a few posts here confirming it, but they seem kinda old. This would be a fairly big issue for me since half my action keys use alt (my main skills are bound 1 through 5, alt-1 through alt-5 and a few on shif mods) and I don't think I could live without them! Is there a way around this, or a fix?

Thanks for any help!

For the alt mods you have to make sure they aren't still bound to something else and make sure you don't have your whitelist set to "strict" IIRC.

For Bindpad, try the BindPad.lua from WTF/Account/ACCOUNTNAME/SavedVariables? Just kinda shooting in the dark since it's been a while, so I could be 100% wrong.

Ah, I think I'll give it a spin then if there's a way to keep my beloved alt!

As for the bindings, I had character specific bindings on, quick way to solve that one, turn it off! I'm now happily running almost perfectly! The only thing that could make it better would be a way to set Jamba so that each character can have the other set as its master. You can set it so that they both act as slaves to the other, but then quest mimic doesn't work, I assume because the master sends out the commands for which option is chosen etc.

Then again it could just be a case of changing gameplay habits, the only reason I really change toons is for clicky quests (collect mushroom spores, Ghazridian etc). I should really force myself to abandon those with triple exp from the easier ones more than making up for it :D
