This thread is to explain what your forum handle means and your avatar.

My handle is named after Tank's brother in the movie The Matrix - Dozer.

My avatar is a picture of Lucifer's face, from an awesome statue in Belgium:

Taliesin
05-22-2009, 02:09 PM
Taliesin is the name of an old Celtic bard. I've read some of the stories that involve him and have some music that was inspired by one of these stories.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taliesin ('http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taliesin')

My avatar shouldn't need much explanation. Though I've been meaning to update it to get the druid in there, plus make it not as dark as it is. Hasn't been a high priority for me. :)

Handle = My name.
Avatar is just a silly representation.

Svpernova09
05-22-2009, 02:18 PM
My handle: all my friends called me halo cause I'm a big NIN fanboy, and since my favorite was halo nine, I always went by halo nine. Svpernova09 came about because most of the variations of halo across different chat mediums where taken. So Svpernova09 is what I ended up with.

My Avatar: It's my cat. and since I'm a die hard druid, I went with LOLFERAL, since that's what guildies call me, or bear, usually everyone calls me bear, or the bear.

Maxion
05-22-2009, 02:22 PM
Handle: The nickname I use everywhere online, I made it up when I started playing Ultima Online in about June 2000, it means the opposite of the word "minion".
Avatar: Haven't gotten around to making/setting one up here yet.

Bot
05-22-2009, 02:26 PM
i picked bot because when i went to make my 5 man team i couldnt believe it was available. and my avatar is because i like to paint on old junk that no one wants anymore.

Siaea
05-22-2009, 02:27 PM
When BC came out I rolled a Belf to see the starting area. I kept hitting the random name generator till "Siae" came up, and I thought it was cool. So when I started the multibox team, I used variations of that for my Shaman. I just updated my avatar to include my DK last night, but it looks like I need to make it brighter as well.

Fenril is from the SNES game Ogre Battle [which was also ported to PS1 later on]. From Wikipedia:
The High Knight of Ice, she is another of the Three High Knights, and the only female. She was the owner of the Brunhild, the sword which enables communication with the Gods. However, she gave this sword to the humans for protection. She owns the floating island of Organa, and just like Slust, she fought with the Zenobian Revolutionary Army. After being defeated, she will only join the Revolution if their Opinion Leader is worth it. After the establishment of the New Zenobian Kingdom, she returns to Organa to have once again a peaceful life. I don't know where else the name comes from...but it seems to be quite popular across the realms. I use the name for the Protection Warrior that I've played for the last few years. She's on pause at the moment while I multibox though :)

Avatar: TBD

Enndo
05-22-2009, 03:01 PM
Enndo is what I like to burn, Enndoh is the variation i use for my tank, enndo, enndoh, endo, endoo, eendo. My avatar is the laughing man from Ghost in the shell, i'm into anime and this logo describes me in a way.

Zal
05-22-2009, 04:53 PM
Handle: Zal because i've been called that for 5 years. Just think its a cool name.
Avatar: Usually something to do with an anime. No reason really, just because i've watch a crap ton of different animes (1000+ episode, lost count after awhile). Current avatar is Ichigo from Bleach in full hollow vasto lord form.

Starbuck_Jones
05-22-2009, 05:06 PM
Starbuck Jones is a mix of Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica and Indiana Jones. It was the name of a player character I made about 8 years ago for a pen and paper game called RIFTS. When I was in newhire training for Dell, a couple of the people I played Rifts with were in the same class and they called me that name and eventualy everyone in that class and work called me by it so it stuck pretty well.

The avatar pic is of BSG Starbuck.

Prior to this I went by the handle 'Stormlord' A D&D guy I played back in 6th grade.

ghonosyph and the moocrew
05-22-2009, 05:36 PM
My handle refers to my team, lead druid and moocrew is the name of my dks a c and d.

My avatar is a dancing bear as I've played a feral druid for a long time now and thought it was a funny pic depicting druid bear form dance lol

skychilde

My handle refers to my team, lead druid and moocrew is the name of my dks a c and d.

My avatar is a dancing bear as I've played a feral druid for a long time now and thought it was a funny pic depicting druid bear form dance lolThat bear is actually from a Disney kid's show a few years ago called Bear in the Big Blue House.

Name: skychilde because a while back I was into zodiacs and metaphysics and found out my element was air, so thus sky, and I spell child, with an e at the end to represent eternal youth.

Pic: That's my cat, he was cleaning himself and I caught this pic and it's the perfect facepalm pic.

EaTCarbS

Handle: Quoted from Foamy the Squirrel

Avatar: Fallout 3. No more explanation necessary :D

Yamio
05-22-2009, 09:08 PM
Handle: Pen & Paper D&D martial artist that I had created a long time ago.

Avatar: No hidden meaning. Just needed something that fit the size criteria and was easily recognized. Could have easily been a pic of Jimi Hendrix or a turkey sandwich.

Gomotron
05-23-2009, 04:07 AM
Gomotron: I was boxing EQ back in the day with a full group (Shadowknight, Shaman, Cleric, Druid, Enchanter and Rogue). My main's name was Gomorrha de'Sade and when I joined a guild doing some high end raid content, I didn't box at first. Eventually, everyone found out that I boxed and was occasionally asked to bring 1 or more bots. Some guildies were entertained when they would see me "form up" with the bots on autofollow, and they would joke reference Voltron. SInce my main's name was Gomorrha, Gomotron was formed and the nickname stuck.

Pic is of my daily driver, an '06 Hummer H1.

Ishar
05-23-2009, 11:00 AM
Gomotron: I was boxing EQ back in the day with a full group (Shadowknight, Shaman, Cleric, Druid, Enchanter and Rogue). My main's name was Gomorrha de'Sade
Lol, nice! My characters in EQ were always (something) D'Sade. (Dunno why the D'Sade and not de'Sade, i guess cause we just wanted to be different lol.) I didn't create the surname; but adopted it because I thought it was cool and my best friend there used it. Its funny, because I always wondered if it made us look like one boxer instead of two; to the uninformed.

At any rate; back on topic; I'm a big fan of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series; and Ishar Morrad Chuain is the name of one of the forsaken (Aginor ('http://wot.wikia.com/wiki/Aginor') i believe) from that world. Kinda a super-evil mad scientist type char. Sorta. In a fantasy world. I just thought Ishar sounded cool; so I used it for alot of stuff. (It also has nice permutations such as Ashri, Ashir, Rashi, etc. My 'boxes' in eq (and my shammys in wow) are named that way.

My avatar is a picture I took of my cat; she was sleeping in the closet, and saw me grab the camera, and was coming over to give it a good sniff; probably one of the better pictures I ever took of her.

Flekkie
05-23-2009, 11:08 AM
Avatar: It is the three birds from the end credits of 'The Mysterious Cities Of Gold', an early 90's childrens cartoon. The full (home-made) .gif is here http://xs129.xs.to/xs129/08296/birdsop3518.gif , but it is too big for these forums, and I am a noob at making gifs so I couldn't figure how to make it smaller.
I find that it is a relatively peaceful image, and helps calm trolls on some forums (not saying these ones ;) )

Handle: My handle seems to be different all over the place. I like to use different adjectives for light, so: Fleck, Mote, Spangle, Dapple, Haze, Glow, Glimmer, etc, but these are usually taken when I try them, so Flek or Flekkie has been useful. I find that people treat me less aggressively if I use Flekkie over Flek, probably because it sounds more affectionate.

mmcookies
05-23-2009, 10:18 PM
handle: i like cookies, duh

avatar: cookies are awesome, pip pip

Redbeard
05-23-2009, 10:26 PM
Handle: I happen to have a red beard (even though my hair is blonde) so ive been going by that name for a long time... i like the style of it. Wanted to name my wow char Redbeard but it was taken.
Avatar: I have a mancrush on Joshua Homme. Queens of the Stone Age is awesome.

Motgib
05-24-2009, 12:07 AM
Motgib = Big Tom backward. Started off as a RL nickname and ended up using it as my gaming handle. (I'm a wiry guy so it's a sarcastic nickname)
The Avatar is the Marine Corps Officer's Eagle Globe and Anchor. I'm not an officer but I think it looks nicer then the enlisted version.

OogaJiggaWooga
05-24-2009, 12:33 AM
... Handle was one of the sayings / nicknames that came out of the now fuzzy years of high school, no idea what it was originally in relation to.

Avatar is beacuse I tend to have a lot to do with dogs

Tdawg2008
05-24-2009, 12:43 AM
Handle = I was called T-Dawg by alot of people in High school and I made my dual-boxing.com account in 2008

Avatar = the game I'm addicted to!

Simulacra
05-24-2009, 03:08 AM
handle: I was trying to think of a word for my clones and asking myself this question: "What shall I call these simulacra?" and then went ahhhhhh! it means a likeness, image, representation
the pic is a bit sad: I loved the famous five when I was a kid and also used to love camping ally and there's five in my group so ....five go off to camp :)

Allestaria
05-24-2009, 04:57 AM
No avator as I've been to lazy to upload one.. But once I get it uploaded it will be of my new Kitten Boxer!

Anyway Allestaria is the name of my Ally druid. I just love the name for some reason. And I liked Cristy Alley when I was younger from when she played in ... The bar sitcom.. OMG I can't remember the name..

Anyway my real form name that i have gone by for years.. 21 to be precises is Trixie. I picked that name up several years ago. Before internet was even out. I used to love to eat twix in school and I didn't like to be called Twixie. So I changed it to Trixie. ( So yes I had the name BEFORE the movie came out)

In wow people call me Jess. For my mage Jessianna. My 2rd toon to 60 and my first to raid with.

Xtremepayne
05-24-2009, 07:04 PM
As if the spelling didn't give a clue, I like the old pc game Max Payne. But figured it either would be taken or I would be told to change it. So instead I choose Xtreme in the place of Max. I was playing fps games when I came up with it. Its great, I like being called XP :)

Tasty
05-24-2009, 08:37 PM
Handle - My priests called tastyheals. Everyone calls me tasty. Therefore Tasty is my e-name
Pic - I'm a pirate IRL :) Or at least wish I was

also bigtom, my last name irl is Boon so my last name backwards is Noob :p

Ps: Makes me sad when tank (or is it dozer) I forget which, dies in the Matrix :(

Drecan
05-24-2009, 09:02 PM
Drecan was oringally a randomly generated name for my Sanddorian elf from final fantasy 11 and i've just kept it for the last 4 years. on every server i go to i make drecan and the variation of the name Mcdrecan (cause i'm 90% irish lol).

Avatar cause Kirk is awesome

Ughmahedhurtz
05-24-2009, 10:28 PM
Handle was a friend's suggestion for the name of my first MMO character, a Thane in DAoC: Ughmahedhurtz WhyYouHitMeFOO. Ah, to have last names in WoW. :(

Icon is my normal mode of approaching the world (if you're not finding humor/giggles in just about everything, you're not having enough fun, IMO).

Khatovar
05-25-2009, 06:22 AM
My forum name, like most names I use for toons and our guild names, comes from the Black Company books. My husband's been into them forever and once I read them I totally fell in love. In the books, there is The Black Company, a band of mercenaries who hire out to whoever will pay them. They know next to nothing about thier beginnings, only that they are the last of The Free Companies of Khatovar, a land that is beyond a place called The Glittering Plane. The plane itself is a collection of gateways to 16 worlds, and in the center is a fortress that imprisions a demon goddess called Kina {or Khadi, Khatovar translates to "Khadi's Gate"}, and the golem Shivetya who stands guard over the Plain to prevent Kina from escaping.

There is also The Ten Who Were Taken, a collection of the world's most potent sorcerors and sorceresses who served under The Dominator. The Dominator used them to create a vast empire that peaked about the time The Black Company first left Khatovar. The Taken were created through torture, death and resurrection, leaving them more beaten into submission than loyal. Most of them are power-hungry, conniving and brutal, with little concern for any one or any thing that does not constitute a tool they can use to further thier own goals.

I just love using the characters as templates for my teams. :P

My icon is just a graphic I created for one of my websites ages ago.

Lokked
05-25-2009, 11:32 AM
I used to go with Menlaben in EQ (my friend propositioned me to come up with a fantasy name for some character of his in Diablo II and I just blurted it out, along with Diadrik), but then someone called me Osama Menlaben! And I was thinking, "Damnit, you don't pronounce it like that!"

So my first character in WoW was a human warlock and I just thought Lokked sounded like a good name for a 'Lock.

I have no avatar because I am not passionate about anything enough to allow it to identify me. At least, this is my initial analysis upon the writing of this post.

Sajuuk
05-25-2009, 08:44 PM
I already posted something like this earlier, referring to my character/guild naming scheme.

Sajuuk is the handle I use here, my most common one is avatardelta, made many years ago. (Avatar, because it sounded neat, and Delta, from the Delta Flyer on ST:Voyager)

Homeworld forever!

All the names are from Homeworld (The video game, an older RTS). Sajuuk is the progenitor weapon that is the focal point of Homeworld 2. In the game you abandon the second mothership for Sajuuk in the center of the galaxy, which you travel to through Balcora gate (My avatar)

Hraal, Paktu, Gaalsien, Soban and Somtaaw are names of Kiith clans in the homeworld universe (Think of them as family groups).

Unbound is a reference to the main protaganist and another (Friendly) faction. Protaganist Karan Sjet (a neuronics expert whose breakthroughs in neuroscience allowed the controlling of the first mothership. She wired herself into the mothership and became its core, as no computer could be controlled with such a massive task. The tasks included: Ship construction, research, ore processing, maintaining cryotanks (In the game the population of their world is firebombed, only 600,000 or so survive because they were in their orbital cryotubes), sensors, navigation, weapons, and a slew of other things.

It's also a reference to the Bentusi, a trader race that refers to themselves as the Unbound. To be "Unbound" is to have a physical, nueral link with ones vessel. You ARE the core of the vessel.

Quick Copy/Paste from Encyclopedia Hiigara:

Unbound was a term used by the Bentusi to describe persons or races that were directly connected with their ships. Karan S'jet was the first person of the Kushan ('http://homeworld.wikia.com/wiki/Kushan') race who was connected with a ship ('http://homeworld.wikia.com/wiki/Mothership_%28Kushan%29'), thanks to cybernetic implants. Another known Unbound was the Vaygr ('http://homeworld.wikia.com/wiki/Vaygr') warlord Makaan, using his connection with the Third Hyperspace Core ('http://homeworld.wikia.com/wiki/Third_Hyperspace_Core') to bring the myriad Vaygr Crusades under his command and begin the Vaygr War ('http://homeworld.wikia.com/wiki/Vaygr_War'). Every single Bentusi was also connected with their ship.

In other words, Homeworld is awesome and I should actually go back and beat the first game. >_>

/rambleramble.

Homeworld is the RTS upon I base my judgments towards other space-set games. So far only EVE online has come close to Homeworld, but it didn't really grab me. I may try it again later.

Edit: Holy cow Homeworld will run! =D Hallelujah!

EditofEdit: Giving link to the Homeworld Historical and Technical Briefing - It will give some background information.

Editofeditofedit: Soo...old and pixellated...*shudder*

Zub
05-25-2009, 09:17 PM
The handle 'Zub' comes from one of my troll toons. being remotely into RP I wanted to have a really trolly name and came up with Zubjuwal. Zub is just the short version of it.

in the end i'm not playing Zub anymore, but rather the guys described in my sig (Mainly Soap and Ghor).
The avatar just represented some of the combos i tri-boxed. (elemental shamies with NS+EM+CL, mages with POM+Pyro+blast, and druids with strafall+NS+Wrath)

my toons and have semi-RP names (apart soap i guess :-)
- Ghur: my original toon, just wanted a name that 'sounded' tauren.
- Zubtres is part of the Zubwan, Zubtoo, Zubtres trio that i leveled and discared in the end.
- Cian and Cixi are from a french comic book, Lanfeust de Troy. C'ian's gift is healing when the night comes (and became my holy priest) and Cixi''s gift is to change water to whatever state she like (wapor/ice/liquid) and she's quite nasty in the comic, so she became my shadow priest. they are both sisters and look quite alike. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanfeust_of_Troy
- Frizza is my troll frost mage. wanted a name that sounds cold.
- Soap the paly. she cleanses.
- Wazzaaaa! my dumb rogue. he's a nice troll, has got magic fingers, but can't think for shit. He's usually doing whatever Cixi asks him to do.
- Shaiah, no real erason for the name, i just liked it
- Ghørmy druid. he's very similar to Ghur.

Tdog
05-26-2009, 12:14 AM
Handle = I was called T-Dawg by alot of people in High school and I made my dual-boxing.com account in 2008

Avatar = the game I'm addicted to!That's kinda funny as my Handle came from me being called TDog alot in middle school as my first name is Tom. I also orginally only created an account here because I just had a few questions on getting started on multiboxing and never thought I would of made more than 3-5 posts. I never thought I would of found such an awesome place with so much shared knowledge as this.

Avatar = After about 2 weeks of posting on the forums and already having over 100 posts or something like that I figured I might as well put up and avatar. So I googled dog pictures and after looking throw about 50 of them I picked the funniest pic I found.

Otlecs
05-26-2009, 10:11 AM
Hmmm.

Otlecs is one of my old character names backwards ("Scelto" for those of you struggling ;) ).

When I first started out over two years ago, multiboxing was firmly in the "grey area" of WoW, with no public position statements from any credible source as to whether it would be allowed to continue, so I didn't want to use a real character name but I did want to feel at least some connection to my forum account.

I turned off signatures and avatars ages ago, and completely forgot I even had one! The ghost animation is lifted from Ultima Online (http://www.uoherald.com/news/), which I played for <mumble> years.

It's how your character looks after you've been killed, and how I spent 90% of my time when I first started out, usually watching as the murderer rummaged through my belongings and clean-looted me as punishment for not having any good gear for him to pick though!

I lost count of the number of characters I re-rolled just to get that startup gold again! Happy days :D

Owltoid
05-26-2009, 10:15 AM
Handle: my druid toon names... most unique name I could think of dealing with Owl beasts.

Avatar: I like to think of the guys from Office Space as my treants (the main reason I enjoy playing druids is to summon the forest of doom!)

Vmpwraith
05-26-2009, 07:39 PM
Handle: inherited it from my university days as the PC lab user name they assigned me. I like to think it means vampire ghost but hey.

Avatar: Just me standing on the Great Wall of China. That's because I live in China at the moment and well I had nothing else more clever.

mooglej
05-26-2009, 11:45 PM
Handle: mooglej, waaaaaaay back when, before I ventured into MMO's as an addiction, The Final Fantasy series were among my favorite game series. Course with the success of FF3 (6), and introduction to my favorite character Mog the moogle, I had to use it. At the time I was programming AOL proggies, Ha! Who remembers this era? I used moogle as a programmer handle. Fast forward 15 or so years later after many MMO’s played, I’ve continued to use moogle across the internet, but this day it’s taken in almost every venue, so I tack a J, as my name is Jeremy.

Avatar: It’s me defending your freedoms… Pewpewpew IRL if you will. In the desert now actually on my 3rd tour, was almost 130 degrees yesterday… I wanna go home and box! /wah

SERE

Survival,Evasion,Resistance and Escape. Describes boxing in pvp to a T for me.

I went thru the school at Coronado Island about 10 years ago while I was in service. Army, Navy/Marines, Air Force all have different schools around the country each with a different kind of survival schools, some are like family camping and some are not. All high risk capture specs must complete certain SERE training before continuing on with their units. Anyway, I find in funny about all the mass media hoopla about waterboarding.....Anyone who has gone thru the C class SERE knows all too well. ;(

valkry
06-01-2009, 02:16 PM
Handle: Valkry is my main resto druid from BC and that's what everyone calls me by no matter what char I'm on.

Avatar: A reference to the "Club it like a baby seal" joke.

Aimee
06-02-2009, 11:26 AM
Handle: Aimee is the name of one of my characters in Warcraft (+it's alternate spellings for my other alts). I liked it because it's the name of Sailor Mercury from Sailor Moon, a Britney Spears song ("If U Seek Amy") that I like, and has alot of alternate spellings.

Avatar: I love shoes and Sex and the City. SATC is what I watch the most (all six seasons on dvd ^.^;) and just adore everything about it.

Stealthy
06-03-2009, 12:15 AM
Stealthy is a nickname i got when I bought my first sports car - it was black, with tinted windows, and one of my mates joked that "it looked like a stealth bomber"...and so the name kinda stuck.

My avatar is a play on the logo for the well known courier/freight forwarder - UPS:

Marathon
06-03-2009, 03:04 PM
Marathon because it is the one thing or event that I feel describes me the most. It is endurance and the desire to do what is to most people the impossible. Only .1 percent of the population will ever run a marathon and I like that. I like being in the less than 1 percent. I like pushing myself past my physical limits and I like things that are physical and mentally challenging.

The marathon is a gut check and either you have it or you don’t. The strong will make it and the weak will make excuses for why they did not finish. I have run 4 Marathons and 1 Ultra Marathon and I can honestly tell you it’s never crowded on the extra mile.

Aviator – Is the distance of the marathon 26.2 miles.

sixzandsevenz

Handle: A British phrase for confusion. I put "z"'s at the end instead of es/s because my name is Zack. I don't know why I picked it, but I've used it forever.

Avatar: That's me, sporting my Blue's Clues shirt.

Dorffo
06-09-2009, 01:11 PM
Handle: Dorffo goes back to EQ1 - has been one of the toon names I've used ever since. For a forum like this, I've found it useful to have the same in-game name as I post with so people can track me down (for better or worse).
