Is there an addon that gives information on raids ingame. I saw Boss Mods on curse but it looked like it just warned you when the boss was gonna fire off some spell or proc not like hey in this instance dont aoe around X mobs or something.

the bossmods will give you warnings about the boss actions (as you said, just before a boss does an action, or when cooldowns are ready etc.)
Often it will also tell you how you should react to that action, "Stop casting", "dont move" etc. Most also give you a range warning for those fights when you need to be at some distance from other toons.

If you want to know how to handle mobs though, like "dont try and aoe those mobs", then i think you'll need to check the websites like wowhead to get the boss strategies.

Don't know any addons that does just that. You mean gives out information like general tactics like bosskillers.com?

There used to be MobNotes ('http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info8314-MobNotes.html') but it hasn't had any notes preloaded for WotLK. It does give the ability to add your own, though. Not quite the same but there is also Ghost: Recon ('http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11869-GhostRecon.html') which will add mob abilities to your tooltips as you encounter them. Doesn't help the first time you meet the mob, but next time it can help you remember what the mob can do. It will also include information like whether or not the mob can be cc'd, but once again, you need to have encountered the mob at least once before so it can "learn".

You could take a look at http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/boss-tactics.aspx and http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/bt_ulduar.aspx

The two most popular addons for raids are CT Raid and oRA2.
I personally like oRA2 between the two, because you can configure a lot of what you will share with the raid and its entirely compatible.

As far as warnings, Deadly Boss Mods and Big Wigs are very popular for raids.
I actually raid with both, mixing and matching the features.
The BigWig warnings are stronger, but I like the whisper blocking feature on DBM.
Mixing and matching these two, by choosing which feature is enabled or disabled on each, is a strong combinaiton.
