View Full Version : Meh... Fear, ui's, and why it caused me to become bald.

When I first made my characters.. I was unaware of the lack of sweetness that is WOTF.... So on my current set up for pvp, five mages. Fear is the bane of my existence. Ill get a warrior, or a priest running in the middle of my group, fearing... then it gets really ugly from there.
So other then my trinket.. does any one have tactics to work around this weakness? Other then reroll undead, as I should have to begin with (pull out more hair).
I am also looking for a good ui package, or group of add ons. I like bongos, cartographer, the pvp mods from mazzle, plus that quest mod, i think its called lighhead... Is there anything out there that offers this stuff, +
being friendly for multi boxing?

shaman tremor totem, and if you go tauren warstomp would be pretty useful too.
as you have no healer ur a full nuke group im supprised anyone gets close enough to aoe fear you.
I even put it in the guide!
Race Selection
In my opinion there is only one race to pick. Undead. They have Will of the Forsaken. WOTF breaks fear. Fear is really bad when you are grouped up. Dwarfs might be a good bet but who wants to cast fear ward all the time? In my personal opinion the only real choice is male or female characters and what they look like. If you pick Tauren, you can chain Warstomps and if you pick Blood Elf, you can chain 2 second stuns (although both have diminishing returns). Of course, doing so you will lose WOTF and limit your class selection. If you want to get really fanatical about your characters, make them all look the same like I did with the Zins. It makes them blend in a bit better when they are all standing on one spot. If you are going with 4 or 5 shamans, you obviously cannot be undead. In that case, staggered tremor totems and 2 minute trinkets work well enough to compensate.
Will of The Forsaken
Will of the Forsaken (Racial)
Instant 2 min cooldown
Provides immunity to Charm, Fear and Sleep while active. May also be used while already afflicted by Charm, Fear or Sleep. Lasts 5 sec.

I know... If only I haf found this site before I hit level 50 on all of them.. /cry...
Also.. what ends up happening.. Ill kill like 3 or four of them, in waves, then a whole bunch will bum rush me... and the fear slap down begins.
I should probably reroll.

Spread out so all of you don't get hit with a PS or Intimidating Shout or Howl of Terror....?
PS: WotF gives you a 5s immunity / break, after that you are looking at 2x 2min cooldowns if you used your trinkets as well and if you have the advanced trinket.
Warrior, warlock, priest combo in arenas will rotate AoE fears. Difficult to deal with.

Fear not! (no pun intended)
You have the 2 min trinket which is the same cooldown as WoTF
And....!!!
In an upcoming patch all Mages will be receiving Ice Block as trainable, which basically you can use to sit through the barrage of anything. 10 seconds to get your barrings on anything.
So there is still hope, don't feel bad :)
I played 3 Mages for almost 2 years with only a 5 min cooldown trinket, I know the pain.

Specc pompyro and if ya see a warr nuke it?
the idea is basicly:
Lock comes and you pyro himm dead.
Still having the buff you do fireblast on the priest and blastwave r sum.
Then the warr comes, gettin close (not too close) and dragonbreath tingy on himm and then jsut spamm arcane blast or icelance till hes dead.
Then at last iceblock and get your shit togeva!
and that is ofcours if they have thous classes and they all want to AoE frear you

Warrior will charge or intercept and Intimidating Shout. Don't think you can stop it.
