I've been monitoring my xp/hr lately, and decided to get a good measurement today. I spent 4 hrs questing in grizz hills doing various quests, and the most i could achieve was 107,000 xp/hr (using titan panel to monitor). At this rate, it takes me 15.3 hours get a full level.
I'm not really wasting much time, and trying to kill groups of mobs as I see them, but am I way off on this? Seems like most here are doing this faster. Is this about right?

I used to spend 8-10 hours per level 70-80. Because you need to do various collection quests to open kill quests, i did the following:
1.Check if its a collection quest
2. Copy the name and check wowhead or thottbot or any database site.
3. Check the follow up's.
4. Are there more kill followup quests? -> Accept and do it
4. Aren't there more kill followup quests, except collection quests? -> Dont accept it and don't do it
This is basically what you do with every collection quest and new zone that you get. I know: Leveling in WotLK is f*cked up. But you have to or you will run out of quests.
And if anyone tells you: Yeah well i cleared first two starter zones and i am level 74-75, thats not going to work with playing multiple characters.
Hope i didn't made you feel bad about playing another 8 levels or so in total agony and pain (because its the truth)
Kind regards and a pat on the back,
Steven from WoWMultiVids

i've got no idea how u pulled off 8-10 hrs a level ... even with kill quests ... i'm at 15+ hrs / level, and that's with full rested xp on all characters.

I'm with Negativ on this, as I only take 8-10 hrs per level, but the reason for this is Joana's Horde Levelling Guide (not sure of the name of the Alliance version). If you can afford to get a copy, it will save you so much time

wow, even at level 74 I can do the non-collection quests at the Island of Q dailies and get more xp/hour than that. I just did it today and had 127k/hour.
I've been trying to avoid Northend quests doing some old world heroics and the nexus and I got to 74 .... I'm going to have to break down and start doing quests :(

15 hrs/level seems insanely slow to me. I didn't really keep track of how long I spent on each level, but i know 79-80 took me 6 hours. I basically jumped into northrend at 68. The order I followed was Borean Tundra, Howling Fjord, Dragonblight, Grizzly Hills, Ring of Blood in Zul'Drak, Scholozar Basin, and finished up in Icecrown. I only dual box so I didn't really skip many quests on the way and I picked up the achievement for all zones i stuck around in.

I took my 3 through Northrend, and did all the quests in each zone to get the achievement, and dinged 80 in Storm Peaks. You take a HUGE exp. ding in a group, solo you can ding a lot sooner than that, especially if you pug the instances when you can. With 5, you can run instances to make up for the lost exp, I'm doing that with the team in Outlands.
Speaking of my Outlands team, I took a break from them, to level up my rogue, who's my main miner/jewelcrafter, and running her with the 80 druid, it's 3-400 per kill grouped, 1100-1200 solo. (I just don't know how viable she'd be in the team, although her DPS would be a boon - but I want her making jewelry and gems later on.)
I'm thinking it's best to not group in Northrend if you have 2, and tag-kill, so the lower level toon gets more exp? It's working with my rogue/druid combo, because the rogue will stealth/pickpocket (gotta get those lockboxes!)/attack, then the druid drops into the fight with her Boom attacks. Works fine, and i'm getting a TON more exp. that way. It helps that I don't have to worry about quests on the druid, too, and she's a leatherworker, so she's skinning and outfitting the rogue as we go.
I'm still in Borean/Howling, will ungrouping the two lead to issues later on with phasing?

thought Id share a little lvl77+ XP gold mine Ive only just found.
Halls Of Lighning Xp/Speed Runs!!
XP @ lvl77 = 231k Per hour (not rested)
After running the full instance a fair few times it became apparent that once u get past the 2nd boss XP per hour drops a load, mainly due to 3rd boss taking a while/being a pain etc and the trash upto to him being small anoying pulls.
what we've been doing is fast pulls till we down 2nd boss run and reset. heres a bit more detail for those that hant done the instance...
Our Group
Dk tank (Gf plays tank with me on the rest)
frost mage
boomkin
ele sham
Disc priest (the main char i sure, rest are slaves, suggest resepecing disc if you use a holy priest for healing for this, its much much more mana effecicient and will save loads of drink breaks)
The Run
1) kill trash in first room till 1st boss (ltheres 2 paths to the boss leave 1 full of trash to kill on the way back)
2) kill first boss - kill the 2 adds 1st, we dont worry about him having lighting(extra DPs buff) hes pretty easy
3) move through rock elemental room thing - I just shield all, run threw to stairs then aoe on stairs.
4) kill all trash in the room
5) 2nd boss - all stick tank, tanks uses a aoe macro to gather the adds that spance and just DPs boss down.
6) run back to entrance using the other path in the 1st room to lear the rest of trash.
Runs are taking us 25-30 mins @ 7% of a lvl per run.
Hope this helps.

I should probably ask how people are questing ... i'm simply using quest helper, gathering all the particular quests at a given hub, and following the QH arrows. I'm not really leaving any quests out (except for dungeon), just bascially following QH till I get to the next quest hub.
Are most doing it this way? Is everyone here using a free/paid guide?

EffexThanks Effex - would love to be able to do this, but I'm just not sure I could do it with a pally, holy priest, 3x frost mage team. My pally just dinged 77, and the rest are 50% to 77. HOL looks like a lvl 78-80 instance that I would get smoked in ... havent t run HOL yet, but from youtube it looks like you get the standard 2-4 pack of mobs. Would love to do this, but not sure if it's viable. My mages are currently run about 1000dps at lvl 76 as full frost, but i'm willing to respec if necessary. Did you CC the extras and burn down 1 at a time? or did you grab whole packs and AOE them down while spamming heals on the tank?

we went at lvl77(ya need flying to get there) with a 78 shammy. didnt use any CC just DK tanks them all. dps assist DK and single target them down. priest spam heals DK.
when we first went we took a few whipes at 3rd boss as hes movement intensive and still a pain when u get th tactics down thats why i prefer going to 2nd bosss only.
only thinkg i wwould suggest and i really cant stress this enough is to respec the priest to disc. i had major mana issues when we went as holy not only at bosses but having to drink after a couple of trash pulls screws your xp/hr .
penance an amazing ST heal for tank and for AOE heals i use a glyphed holy nova and POM.
oh if u do try a full run on last boss forget running when he aoe's just dps and spam nova threw it.

I'm at 750 on my pally and about 850 on my 3xmages as full frost at lvl 76 which i think is a bit low ... was considering switching to arcane ... thoughts/suggestions?
U mind also linking your armory page pls - wouldnt mind checking your build ...

sorry didnt check dps though had recount on dmg and can say my mage was just below the dk most of the time(DK is aoeing so understandable) i used frost spec again for mana efficiency and the fact is easy as hell to macro.
best thing to do is give it a try, sure youl be able to do trash and thats where the xp is anyway

Are most doing it this way? Is everyone here using a free/paid guide?Jame's quest guide is good, but it's sort of long. He goes through everything, not just what you need to level. did 2 toons solo to about 77 using his guide, but with rested XP and a few instance runs I hit 77 in dragonblight on green quests. I'll prob keep going and finish it out to just get the gears and money, but I'd start the Sons of Hodir questline the minute you hit 77. You need to do it anyway, for the shoulder enchants, and the dailies take about 30-45 min a day to solo, idk how long they take to box, prob an hour if you do all of them.
Mostly I just quest away hub to hub. QH running and just go to work, but I'm weird, I like leveling.

Crit immunity is a huge lot easier with this trinket :)
And don't forget to get a tabard, since hol normal will give rep :)
kind regards
70-75 i ran UK dragon rooms runs, more or less u kill upto first boss rinse repeat. was getting over 400k/hr rested doing that. boring as hell but these things must be done. after that i just did grizzly 7 dailies and ran dtk(nice to be proficient in running here as its a emblem mine at 80).
Probably not the best way but its what i did. Hope it helps.
