Wand Shooting and target=focustarget problem

Hi all!
I've found a lot of help on these forms with setting up my duo mage group on my laptop- including getting the screens custom positioned, set to defined FPS, and all sorts of macro assist goodness (group invite, auto accept, spell rotation+focus, etc...)
The one problem I'm run into since I do like using target=focustarget for my spell rotations is that it doesn't work the same with shoot (at least from what I can tell). If I use an /assist macro and shoot, the following character uses the wand correctly, but loses my main character as their focus. I definetly do not want that!
If I use a target=focustarget macro for shoot, well- my follower keeps the correct main character focus, but only wands once- unless if I press that key again. The auto shoot fuctionality doesn't kick in. Here is what I'm working with for the follower shoot macro:

/cast [target=focustarget] Shoot

Pretty simple and should work - but doesn't. My main objection to using an assist shoot macro is that it disrupts my followers focus to where I have to regain the focus after each battle. Very annoying! Is there anything I am missing or am I stuck having to regain focus if I use wands?

I am digging out this old post because I appear to have the exact same problem.

Here is my wanding macro :

#showtooltip 18
/cast [target=focustarget,harm] !shoot

I want to keep focus on the main and keep my targets set (for polymorph). The macro is the same for every character (the leader is its own focus). My set-up works fine for everything else (uncling auto-shoot on my hunter team).

This macro works fine for the main, but the alts shoot only once per key stroke.

Any idea ?

Unfortuanately as I understand the mechanic you need to have your wanding target actually targeted to continue shooting. So it's necessary to do something along the lines of.

/assist Focus
/cast !Shoot

Why do people insist on using !Shot (with exclamation mark)? Totally not needed.

I see, yes, and I did just that.
The search however did not provide any answer to my question (how to make an alt auto-shoot his wand without changing focus or target simply by using target=focustarget). I do know that creating new threads about questions already covered is bad, but I naively thought bumping a post asking exactly my unanswered question would be ok and would not expose me to condescendence.

Thank you for making it clearer to me what my question was. But I'm afraid that again is condescending

I am not getting "pissy", I am just saying, politely and constructively, that when someone comes with a question, after he has obviously searched the forum and the wiki (this page (http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Macro:Shoot_Wand) does not mention the necessity of having an actual target on the alts), it is perhaps not absolutely necessary to gratify them with this kind of remark. Now if you think it was nice or even appropriate, that's your good right. Just like it is also my good right to say that I don't agree.

No hard feelings, just this whole "use the search engine, n00b" thing is getting a bit old.

I did just what Thulos proposed. It is only a problem when I want to sheep, wand, and then re-sheep ... which should never happen, actually.

Talking about wands, I am using level 13 enchanter-made wands for the moment (the girls are level 16). Boy, these things are efficient when used 5 at the time ! I basically one or two-shot anything around my level. Spectacular.

There are a few blue wands ('http://www.wowwiki.com/Wand') you can pick up on the AH that usually go for pretty reasonable prices. If you're leveling with triple xp, I probably wouldn't bother but with regular xp they're a great investment for leveling, especially if the rest of your gear sorta sucks. ;)

I go for quest wants on my mages/priest team.
and wow!

Hit a mob with low rank frost bolt, wand once or twice, dead and I have full mana. Leaves me with mana to go AoE an entire area
I've just found out with my mages I can bubble my main mage, agro everything in an area and then find a wall to run behind (so I don't get casters/ranged sitting way off) and just go nuts with arcane spam. May respec them arcane so it does more damage for less cost, but wow is it the lazy way of clearing areas :D

I've just found out with my mages I can bubble my main mage, agro everything in an area and then find a wall to run behind (so I don't get casters/ranged sitting way off) and just go nuts with arcane spam. May respec them arcane so it does more damage for less cost, but wow is it the lazy way of clearing areas :DOi dummy what level are your mages? :P

haha yeh, was thinking of fireblasting but my priest doesn't have any instant cast damage spells yet other than a dot.
That said, i could probably fire blast, move to next target, fireblast, etc and wait for SWP to kill them ...
