The days of boxing being fun in arenas ended with wotlk. Now its nothing more than an aoe, cc, & interrupt fest. PVP in this game has turned to crap in my opinion. I am wondering how many people are doing arena just to get the non rate requirement set. At this point I have no interest in bg's. I only get honor if I need it in winters lag. Having the latest pvp set really don't matter much anymore. You can die in seconds no matter what you are wearing. Some classes can survive 5 flameshocks and 5 lava burst. Sadly, none of my shaman could survive that even if I was playing solo. They are making this game too complicated with all the talent & specializations for each class. I wish they could go back and make each class simple like it was before. I need to stop typing or this is going to turn into a huge rant.

Im not sure why you keep brining theese treads up but i disagree.
Sorry the game would be plain retarded if 5 dps could make theyr way up in 5v5.
I got 4 shamans and there is not a singel class in the game i cant blow up, the problem now is surviving the damage afterwards. If you do retarded things like sending your instant flameshocks+LvB into a paladin who got divine protection you will lose though. I mean i can kill DK's with bone shield up and 30k hp with motw in seconds. (Not when they are in frost presence though)
As far as i know its no point doing arena if your not planning to reach atleast 1300 rating and buy some deadly gear. The Hateful set is gained only trought honor..
Saying that there is no difference between hateful and furiouse is just BS, the upgrade from hateful to furiouse is bigger then savage to hatefull. Ive been trying to upgrade my offset pices from hateful to furiouse and its 20 stamina, 15 sp, 10 critt and 10-12 resillience. 10 pices of furiouse means 2000 more hp, 150 spellpower, 100 critt rating and 100-120 resillience.
If you played the first week you would have realised how easy the rating was since all pve'ers was doing uludar and the 5v5 brackett was full of blue geared nub cakes.
There are certainly burst problems though and its like hitting a wall but its far from impossible to reach 1800-1900 if your a decent player. Hell aelli almost reach 2k rating last seson and i must say i have NO clue how he did it.
I played against the best 5v5 who plays warrior, mage, ele shaman, priest and holy paladin. I nearly won them both times but the mage survived with 200 hp wich would never happened if i had the deadly gloves on my slaves with spellpenetration gems! There is no doubt that cleave teams rule pretty much everything now and its not realy hard to play or in need of and cc at all.

I hate being the grammar nazi, cause I make a lot of mistakes, but it's though, not thought!!
Thought: past participle of think
Though: in spite of the fact that
If you edit & correct, I'll delete this post =)

Im glad people do correct me since it helps me improving my bad english! :)
I also just broke 1600 nothing fancy, but it is for me!! :D Got a slap in the face by double rogue, warrior, shaman and druid but all in all we took back 70 rating and broke 1600!

pinotnoir i feel the same as you, i just use my shaman for farming gold and plan to cancel all but 1 account soon. I'm going to single box my prot pally with ret offspec. Im having a lot more fun doing that at the moment :) Like you said, there is too much aoe / cc going on to be able to box like we used to. There is no need to carry on flogging a dead horse...maybe next expansion will bring it all back, but im not so sure :)

Hardly anyone plays in 5v5 anymore anyways, my team is 329 rating (LOL!) and is rank 333 in my battlegroup. Everyone plays 2s and 3s now and 5s is the ignored bracket, its great if you can rank up but it doesn't really mean much now since hardly anyone is playing.
Heck maybe next season it'll just be multiboxers left in 5s :)
I cancel 4x my subs in between holiday events, just going for the violet proto drake atm. Having a blast playing my main in ulduar, I will miss my daily skadi runs when my shaman subs run out this weekend :( but midsummer holiday in a month, they will be back!

That makes me excited to do arenas, makes me think maybe I have a chance to get a mildly decent rating if no good teams play it anymore.

What makes you think that if the number of people playing 5v5 that those who do play must be bad players? :) Chances are, its the exact opposite.

mhm not at all ... so far...
one problem - too much skill setups with quad or triple melee >.<, ok ts rotation ... yeah ... nice 3 xretri 1x skillstorm warri and one healshamy = mainchar instant dead
last time i played vs quad melee dps 3-1 and those IMBA DUELISTS dodged me after their win (they got +47 and I got -16 - what else?^^, each win for me +4+3+3) and what happened? they announced their VICTORY against me @realmpool forum
But thats not all, sometimes I think ok that win was close but ... +0 points wtf?
Blizz change that :/

My plan:
Farm honor, play 10 games a week 5v5, get points.
Buy Hateful Parts with arena points and honor (much cheaper)
Do heroics that you can do now because of the damage increase, and farm heroic badges.
Get shield, trinkets, all the good shit and do arena and get high rating.
Kind regards,

I farm just for the Hateful set.
I could see what was happening after the first few weeks of Arena.
IMHO the whole way PvP is played in groups is different now,in Arena and BG's.
When almost every class has the ability to effectively take on clusters of groups (see Multiboxers),as easily as targetting a solo player,(see fan of knives),with stuns poisons and interrupts you know its a deliberate kick in the nuts by BLizzard.
Its my opinion after playing nearly 6 months since WoTLK,that it was Blizzards intent to give pacify the QQ'ers and give them tools for breaking down Boxers effectiveness in PvP,certainly players have far less fear of boxing groups now.
I can't count the amount of times i'm idling and some nubcake dashes into my group spamming some AoE effect and dancing around like a clownshoe.
The knock on effect of this and many of the other changes Blizz have made WoW just doesn't feel much anything like the game I played prior to WoTLK,reminds me more of a Nintendo game ,which saddens me

You realy think blizzard gave all classes strong aoe damage due to multiboxers?
Im not sure what you play but 4x shamans are able to get gladiator status this seson and if blizzard realy didnt want multiboxing in the game they simply could have done it by not allowing it.
If your getting aoed to death your gear is to bad or you need a healer, you dont expect to do good without a healer do you?

"You realy think blizzard gave all classes strong aoe damage due to multiboxers?"
No,I think Blizzard devs sat down and decided that giving AoE effects almost every class would in part give players tools to challenge Multiboxers, this is still a kick in the nuts for multiboxers.
"Im not sure what you play"
I play every class, and have many teams on both horde and alliance characters, above 60,70 and 80.
"If your getting aoed to death your gear is to bad or you need a healer, you dont expect to do good without a healer do you?"
Your assuming again, reread my post, I am talking about all classes getting some kind of AoE effect, not just damage, and all PvP including BG's.
It seems to me you didn't read my post all that closely, thats ok your entitled to your own opinion, what I wrote is based on first hand experience of PvP,after 6 months of playing BG's and Arena,PvP is becoming a joke in WoW and has devolved so much since WoTLK I feel like i'm playing a totally different game.
I wish you luck with your Arena teams. :)

If you think mutiboxing entered into any of their conversations about the development process your delusional.

I love aoe. I wiped a 40 man raid on SW with my mage team the other day :D good times, good times indeed.
edit: I mayswell post something constructive. I find aoe damage in most situations from just one person to be negligible. That being said there is one class that can literally tear my face off in under 3 seconds and that's warriors doing that twirly thingy. I'm serious, no exaggeration here count to three with me. One two th.. Nup dead already. Yes yes I can ice block or blink or hit my spread out macro. Still.... its painful :)
Now when you get more than one person aoeing yeah its gg :p but my teams mega undergeard (read: blue pvp set)

Beeing multiboxing cloth vs cleave teams must be hell! :P
I know sit with 22-23k hp ad 780-860 resillience on all my 4 shamans, i havent been aoed down in 5v5 in a long long time. However singel target damage from a Warrior,DK,Ret paladin still wtf us over.
But its funny how effective aoe vs 4dps teams and now that i finally figured out that killing the healer and aoeing down the rest is a easy win. (as long as the healer dont los abuse, but that will make his dps die to aoe)
