View Full Version : Can I setup overlapping Regions?

I don't think that Keyclone has profiles (if it does please correct me!) and I am trying to setup regions for both my 5x team and my 2x team.

My 5x team already has regions setup covering the whole screen, but I would also like to add 2 regions for my 2x team. In order to do this I would have to create overlapping regions.

Is this possible or even desirable?

I am also looking for tips as to how people setup KC for playing different teams. I could use my 5x layout but that is 1 big window and 4 little ones - which is not really desirable for 2xboxing.

It's possible, but can get hard to manage if you need to change the maximizer settings for a completely occluded region.

I do what you're looking for by having one installation of Keyclone for each distinct maximiser layout, and just fire up the right installation for the team I'm playing.

It's a bit of a sledgehammer, but works just fine :)

You can export / import your maximizer layouts to do this. Just set up regions, apply, test and make sure it's what your wanting for that team. then go to Setup -> Maximizer -> Click the X (to the left of the reset button) and specify a name. Now you can go create a new layout for a different team and export it. Now if you want to go back to the first layout, just click the I button (to the left of the X) and select your file you exported.

I used to just make copies of the keyclone.ini file and use those as profiles, but with the addition of the import and export buttons in the maximizer I don't have to do that anymore.

Yup. Import and Export makes life easier but for me it's still far easier to just run multiple installations of KC. Each is completely self-contained and needs hardly any disk space at all.

That would be less desirable for people who make extensive use of global whitelists, blacklists, host strings, keymaps, etc, but I don't use any of that :)
