Hai guys,
Just put an order in for a new comp yesterday. Running a Q6600, evga 680i A-1 revision mobo, 2gb dominator memory at 800 MHz, 32 bit vista. dual 8800GT cards. From reading the forums, it seems like I need to upgrade to a 64bit OS, but can a 64bit OS run on 2GB? Because I really can't afford to get another 2GB of Dominator right now. I kinda want to 3 box, but 2 would be cool too, since I am just starting out. I plan on running two monitors with my one computer set-up. Any help with this would be a great help to me all, and thanks in advance.

My specs:
Q6660
4gb memory (on 32-bit XP... so really only 3gb)
8800GT (just one)
I use two monitors, as well.
I am able to run 5 WoWs at a single time.

yeah, I thought about going XP again, but thought I might save myself some money in the long run by just upgrading now, even with all the problems the os seems to be having at present. I didn't get any more than 2GB for vista cause 2GB seems to be the max on that os, or so they tell me.

32-bit Vista is 3 GB, while different versions of 64-bit have different caps. Most versions of 64-bit Vista cap at 8 GB, except for the Server and Enterprise versions.

I run almost the exact same specs are you and kalih
Q6660
4gb memory (3.25 due to XP's cap)
XFX 8800GT
2 22" Monitors
I run 5 instances of WoW with no problems. My single GT powers the two monitors at 3360x1050 (in horizontal span), just fine, and the only hiccups (really, sub 50fps -- which is my cap) is when first loading the bajiliion people in org, and I'll drop into the 20s there. All in all, very playable, and you shoudl be fine.

Thanks very much for the info all. :D
This has helped me gobs. So, is 2GB the min memory requirement for Vista 64bit too then? I couldn't find any info really on that for some reason. I assumed it was 4GB for some reason.

vista doesnt require 2gb but i wouldnt run it with any less. and all versions of 64bit operating systems support atleast 4GB of RAM, 32bit OSs cap at 3, so even 32bit vista wont see more than 3gb.

Thanks for all the info guys. I went ahead and threw some more memory into my order, lol. Ended up being cheaper, in the long run, to purchase it with the original build, so I said why not. I really wish I had read this forum more, before I ordered, cause the SLI limitation kinda blows. I guess I can just turn it off when I play wow to use two monitors, no biggie there really. Hell, we don't even get the full power of one 8800, let alone two in SLI, for wow anyway. Again, Thank You all for the initial help. :D
