So I guess as the Subject says, who all is going to this years Blizzcon?

Blizzcon 2009 Info ('http://www.blizzard.com/blizzcon/events/index.xml')

I attempted to go last year but never got around to it (Work had me somewhere else).

Was going to attempt what Knytestorme ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=User&userID=2646') had done for 2008, but if someone else wants to start a thread to get a list of people going and plans to all get together, then by all means, go ahead.

If Blizzard dosnt fuckup with getting tickets again this year, both the wife and I will be going.

I'd love to go, but I'm still technically out of work and couldn't afford it. Although I'm currently employed at a barely-above minimum wage job, it's just not going to cut it for much longer. Here's hoping things look up. If they do, maybe I'll join you guys. But nevermind me right now; good luck to everyone trying to get tickets. Let's just hope they don't announce another WoW expansion right away; I still have more than enough WotLK material to play through.

Good luck, last year the tickets sold out in an hour or so and the wow website was impossible to navigate to buy tickets. I imagine it will be the same this year.

Behind closed doors after Blizzcon 2008...

Blizz1: "Well that went well! So many people in such a small space, all spending more money for our stuff!"
Blizz2: "Yeah that was great! Matter of fact I think I have an idea on how to fix the ticket issue we had this year... DId you notice how many hours people were willing to stand in line for our stuff?"
Blizz1: "I heard 5 hours from a few people, so what's your idea?"
Blizz2: "We need to make a line to the web site... that way our loyal customers can spend hours in line for a slim chance to give us more money this year!"
Blizz1: "Brilliant!"

So our fate was sealed by the mass of people who lined up from one end of the convention center to the next during last years Blizzcon. (Here's a concept for you Blizzard - special access online store for Blizzcon gear, only allow access to confirmed tickte holders, I know radical technology based solution, how dare I). I give the new ticketing queue system a very tiny chance to actually work on the 16th (based on Blizz's track record on new content / ideas being deployed to live servers. Honestly they should have just dumped all the tickets into a 3 phase lottery.

I went last year, it was fun to check somethings out like D3, meet up with some people from in game, go to the Dual Boxing dinner. I will try to get tickets this year, however I will not be too disappointed if I don't. I do think the announcement at Blizzcon should easily out impress the class announcement for D3! wooo that was a thriller.

Doesn't look like there will be as many people interested this year as last year. Not that I blame them. There really isn't anything new to look forward to at this convention. Last year the hype was over diablo 3 and starcraft 2 as well as WOTLK expansion. There really isn't a lot for them to do at this con other than the usual sc2, wow, and d3 booths as well as the 3 different tournys and Q&A sessions.

I am going to be looking to go this year anyway for the starcraft 2 section. Starcraft tournament and more starcraft 2 related news releases.

Hope to see some db faces there.
And suvega and vyn coming again this year? Probably not since they haven't been around as much lately but would be nice to meet up with them again :D

Tickets have been purchased. ;)

We've been absent from the forums to deal with remodeling and subsequently moving into our new home, but we're still alive and kicking. :)

Suvega is reserving hotels right now.

Got my ticket, but my deployment schedule is all jacked up. I'm trying to get stationed in Arizona. Already have my hotel booked, but damn, not looking forward to figuring out my air.

Suvega, you still haven't gotten me my picture collection from last blizzcon lol.

Btw, do you have my new cell number?

The pictures are still there, Suvega just never plugs the darn camera into the computer.

His cell # is the same. If have problems calling it, send me a PM of the number you're calling -- maybe a digit is off or something.

Apparently I was a few seconds too late. I was on the site at 10am and ended up being 8000 something in the queue. Tickets were gone by the time I was about 6000 something in the queue. Lame.

I'm kind of curious to see if they have anything big at this year's con - a release date for D3 would be excellent, but I doubt it.

I would be VERY surprised if they announced the next expansion, although they have said they wanted to speed up the delivery cycle on them, so who knows? I don't remember, did they announce Wrath at the convention, or was that teaser on the WoW site before it? Who knows - they could announce it, start a Beta in September, and have an expansion rolled out by November/December, but that means two major patches between now and then - and I don't expect Icecrown until November at the earliest, that PTR will probably be up 2 months. Nah.

I have a feeling the WoW news will be an Icecrown preview, and possibly more on the Tourney (they're tied together somehow, or so they hint), and some solid looks at D3 and Starcraft.

Got tickets as well. Got reservations at the Hilton. Looking forward to the DB dinner and meeting people again.

Tip from last year. We picked up our goodies bag and badges right before they closed Thursday night. Walked right up no line, and the guys behind the desk were not stressed! This year will be bigger with another hall added, so more people = bigger lines. I wish everyone luck in avoiding LineCon 09. :)

My guess is that the ticket queue filled within the first 15 to 30 seconds (for those who got to buy them). I joined the queue at 3k, my wife tried literally a few seconds after and got in the queue at 7k. Needless to say my predictions for the Ooops Murloc to rear its head were mistaken (except the night prior when auth servers crapped out randomly, yeah right).

Yea. Not sure I like the new system better though. Apparently I was a few second slow and ended up 13,846th in line and get the pleasure of watching the stock dwindle. Anyone have two tickets they can send my way?

basically by not having something to combat the ticket bots, blizzard fucked over alot of people. You had to be amazingly quick with the refresh key, but bots can do it faster.

05-30-2009, 02:23 PM
LOL... I got worked as well, again...

CLicked two tickets, buy and was in 4000+ within 2 seconds.

Was in Qu, then it kicked me out and made me go back to the starter page... after that, I went back in and it was 10 mins different in time.

Got down to 200Que, 7% left, and BAM, out of STOCK!!!!

FUCK.

Souca
05-30-2009, 02:29 PM
9832nd when the stock went from 8% to zero.

I know this is likely a victim mentality, but I'm tired of dealing with Blizzard and feeling fucked over. I haven't played WoW since the PVP Tourney and have only kept the remaining two accounts open to pay for the pleasure of waiting for my pet murloc. Now that they have sent them out, I can't bring myself to even log on. Guess I'll just log on, grab the pets and cancel the two remaining accounts. Nerdraging likely, but I really don't like the shit on feeling I have right now and most of the time I get when dealing with Blizzard in the past year.

Granted, I'd still love to get two tickets to go. I may even just head down to hang out with peeps for the weekend and do the Disney thing on my corporate pass again.

Got my 2 tickets this weekend, will be my first time going.

Any pointers for a first time visitor to blizzcon?

I was also kinda wondering.... I get serious hate on Twisting Nether for running the 4 sham's around (one in particular said he would stab my face- my reply was my address and told him not to come during dinnertime) is there a really distinct attitude when you let out that you multibox? If I need to bring my sack of door knobs I would like a heads up! :D

Anyways I am really stoked and am hoping to meet some more boxers and see different views of the art.

Skipping this year - sorta indifferent about not going. =\ We did the last 2 years, the first year was great, last year sucked (I wasn't active on the boards then, so I missed out on the Dula-Boxing.com dinner) because I spent more time in lines than what I should have, (3 hours in the store line, YEA!) and couldn't even get into most of the discussions I was interested in--I actually went back to my hotel room and read about announcements on the web--crappy trip overall.

I'll be buying the web stream and running it through to my family room TV--throwing an East Coast BlizzCon party at my house tho :) I've got some old guildies, current WoWers (some multiboxers), and RL friends coming over. I figure we'll grill, drink, watch BlizzCon from the comfort of the sofa, possibly do a drunk LAN party, and play Rock Band. I'm actually looking forward to it!

/been doing a lot of stuff to the house, so I wasn't really willing to pay 3K in plane tickets to fly out there, on top of the $200/night hotel (I'm picky, I stay at the Hilton, lol).
//Will make 2010--will also make sure all my friends save up and actually GO!

Anyways I am really stoked and am hoping to meet some more boxers and see different views of the art.Wear comfortable shoes :>

But seriously, there's a Target close by--I would recommend stopping in (assuming you're flying and not local) and grabbing some water and some granola bars to keep in your hotel room. The food is incredibly expensive at the Hall (to be expected). If you have a car, there's a GREAT shopping center right down the street with PF Changs, CPK, M&S Grill, Cheesecake Factory, etc. I went there several times for dinner. PACK COLD MEDICINE. You will need it because you are bound to catch something being around a ton of people with different hygiene expectations than yourself. I caught a nasty cold after the first day, and seriously wanted to shoot myself on the flight back home--I've never been in such pain in my life. Best airport (if flying) to fly into is SNA. It may cost a little more, but it's a very convienent airport.

The Hilton is a decent hotel. You pay for the "decency," but it's nice. There's a lot of events that people throw there too--there was a pool party last year, and a lot of the Blizz employees crash there too--they were hanging out in the bar after the Con wrapped in the evenings, and Neth checked in right after me (and she's sooo damn cute!). Try to NOT eat at the Hilton (also a given) because you get raped on the cost of food.

On the first day, I would wait about an hour after the doors open before heading over. The line was WHOA long last year, and I think I toured every part of the building while winding around to the front doors.

No laptops allowed in the halls. They do search bags. I took my work laptop (only thing small enough to fit in my luggage, my alienware is too big) and stuck it into the in-room safe when I wasn't there.

I didn't advertise that I multiboxed when I was there--I know Vyndree had bags made last year (was slightly behind her in the store line) and I'm sure that people would get pissed (gogo nerdrage) but I didn't really deal with any yambags about it. The only thing you'll have to probably deal with are the PvPers going on about how leet they are ;)

Have a good trip!

Most people are not violent IRL, I would not be overly concerned. If you were ballsy enough to give a nerd-rager your home address, my guess is you are confident in your ninja skills. If this is correct, you can use your ninja premonition skills (like you used to get your tickets) to stop any potential attacks before they happen.

Almost everyone I met was cool about the bags. Some of my competitors in the press room asked about multiboxing and a certain person was a bit upset that he wasn't invited to the multiboxing dinner.

I did have one person walk up to me semi-angry. He seemed upset multiboxers in AV.

We going to do a get-together dinner like last year?

And have him to play in the live arena tournament to represent the boxers. ;)This is actually one hell of an idea. There should be a section where you can fight the multiboxer. People would get a chance to ask questions on how it's done and to see multiboxer rigs.

Take the mystery out of boxing and you'll have more boxers.
