I have 5 accounts. 4 are in my name, 5th one is in my friend's name. All 5 have my email and my address. Is there any chance that i will get banned on all 5 accounts? I have lots of 80's on my main account, i would not want to risk losing everything. Should i contact in game GM to see if they can provide any concrete answers on this issue?

Hi

another question:

I'm 5-boxing with 5 accounts on my name. So fare, everything is ok, but I'm also quadboxing together with my girlfriend (she have her own account on her name). The point is that we life togehter and so we use the same internet connection.

Coud this be a problem?

I think it shoud not, becouse then every boxer in shared flats or something woud have a problem, but i'm just not sure about it.

They can tell who is multiboxing and who is not. When you're playing with her, she will not be in sync with your toons, will move on her own and so on. I played 4 and my husband played his account as our 5th for a long time, and I know we were reported a ton, especially in the beginning. As long as you're following the rules and not swapping one of hers for one of yours, you shouldn't have issues.

Yes. Blizzard will see this as account sharing and ban all of your accounts once it's discovered. This forum is littered with tales of accounts banned for doing exactly this sort of thing.

Stick to four boxing.

This will not be a problem so long as you really aren't multiboxing her characters.

My wife and I often multibox together - me on my accounts, her on her own accounts - and have never had a problem.

edit: pre-coffee morning typos.

Hi,

Ah, thats good to know. Thx for the answers.
I never play with her account. When i have started, i have thought about to play with her account, but i didn't do it, because i was not sure and dont't want to get my accounts banned

People here obviously haven't read the rules. As soon as some GM gets on and starts going "RAWR YOU BE USIN' SOMEONE ELSE'S ACCOUNT!" reply with a simple "Yeah, I bought it."

Perfectly legitimate. Buying and selling accounts is legal if all of the contents of the box are transferred to the new owner. Obviously, a new account cannot be made with the CD key so the account also becomes property of the new owner. It doesn't matter whose name the account is in, so long as you can prove you are in possession of the retail box and you pay your fees, there is nothing they can do.

Ownership/Selling of the Account or Virtual Items.

Blizzard does not recognize the transfer of WoW Accounts or Blizzard Accounts (each an "Account"). You may not purchase, sell, gift or trade any Account, or offer to purchase, sell, gift or trade any Account, and any such attempt shall be null and void. Blizzard owns, has licensed, or otherwise has rights to all of the content that appears in the Game. You agree that you have no right or title in or to any such content, including without limitation the virtual goods or currency appearing or originating in the Game, or any other attributes associated with the Account or stored on the Service. Blizzard does not recognize any purported transfers of virtual property executed outside of the Game, or the purported sale, gift or trade in the "real world" of anything that appears or originates in the Game. Accordingly, you may not sell in-game items or currency for "real" money, or exchange those items or currency for value outside of the Game.

You sir,
obviously haven't read the rules.EDIT: Typos >.<

Strange how they allow the purchase, trade or resale of the actual game itself but not the account. They still won't do anything about it.

No, Blizzard can't do what it pleases. It must abide by the rules of its own EULA and TOS or else it can face law suits from disgruntled customers or whatnot.

No one is going to be able to successfully sue Blizzard over anything in game and win. They write the rules. The EULA and TOS are written by Blizzard and change at almost every update. If this isn't the case there would not be so many documented incidents of accounts being banned because of this issue. You might get away with it for a while but it is still something that Blizzard bans for.

Yes, they will. The transfer of ownership you point to only points to the License Agreement for the right to access the "Game Client", IE the install disks which allow you access to create an account. The account and everything associated with it, including the key used to create the account, is property of Blizzard. They are 2 seperate things. Transferral of the game software, including all materials packaged with it allows you to make easy use of the Guest Pass Key, a seperate key used to make a seperate account.

Whitechapel, absolutely everything you have said in this thread is factually incorrect.

I sincerely hope that future members of the community searching for information read the rest of the thread and realise that account sharing and account trading are against Blizzard's terms of use and will end up with a permanent ban on all accounts when discovered.

Not all of it, just wrongly assumed that logic would prevail when allowing the sale of the discs would also mean the sale of an account. Licensing gone out of control.

Being given the correct information and then saying "they still won't do anything about it" is still encouraging people to violate the rules. Logic would also dictate that when it states in the ToU and EULA, as well as on these boards and the WoW boards, and even on some account selling sites that account trading and selling is against the rules and bannable, then it is against the rules and bannable. They will do something about it, and telling people to violate game rules on this forum is a violation of this site's rules.

By saying "they won't do anything about it" I am simply saying it is quite unlikely Blizzard will actively pursue and track down multiple accounts registered in different names being used by the same person. It is more likely they will stumble across it when a multiboxer is reported for botting. I have been reported while using an account in my girlfriends name with no damage done to either of our accounts.

If anyone chooses to follow any advice on these forums they do so at their own risk, I am not to be held accountable if someone decides to test Blizzard and they get banned, merely reporting on my own experiences. Let's all just stop beating a dead horse and get on with it.
