How disciplined are you guys being with learners?

My main character has 5 / 5 learners so i dont have to worry about it with him but my 3 noobs...

I am training them now that my guys are in cruisers and I can do l3 missions, but its going to be 2 months or so to finish them.

Going to test my resolve, lol.

I've read several times now that 5/5 in learning skills is way overkill unless you're planning several (3+) years in advance.
Are you really planning that long in advance? What I did was to use evemon to plan stuff for about a year in advance and then let it auto suggest the learning skills to train.

Yeah i knew it was overkill when i did it on my main but I wasnt paying much attention to the game at the time (i was just logging in to train) so it was a good decision at the time.

I am doing the same thing Nomenquis, letting Evemon dictate which learners I pick up. I dont intend to do any learners that it doesnt suggest.

I have a "perfect golem" plan which will basically max out a golem for my people. Has me doing all basics except CHA to 5 (4 for cha), advanced charisma to 3, advanced WIL and PER to 5 (this surprised me) and advanced int and mem to 4.

Going to try to keep my head down and finish them up so I dont have to worry about it again, was just wondering how well you guys were doing on them lol.

I'm about 2 days off getting 4/4 on both of my characters. I'm really not 100% where they are heading though, I'll figure it out in time. I'm not even 100% sure that I can handle this, level by doing nothing thing. I kinda enjoy seeing something other than cash from my grinding *Shrugs*

i usually do the standard 4/4 , it gets me into the more exciting aspects of EVE faster even though some training may take a few days longer i can have fun faster so its a good trade off for me.

Something to add, if you do plan for a year or longer I highly recommend also using the attribute optimizer in eve mon (and fill in the values of any implants you have). Remapping attributes to fit your plan _really_ saves quite a while.

I'm assuming that everyone has also grabbed Cybernetics I and the +3 implants that they need? I've done that on pretty much every one of my toons but my main has actually got Cybernetics V and +5 implants - they're worth it in the long run and I'd say that they're a bargain if you're planning on heading for carriers or something else that will take a year or more. One thing EVEMon won't do is recommend implants so you have to use the implant calc to see what the best bet is - Cybernetics V takes about 13 days if I recall correctly but +5 implants will reduce training a lot.

Actually it sort of recommends it. Simply have a look at what attribute is best in the attribute calc and get implants for that attribute. You just have one 'slot' for each attribute anyway so just get the 2 attributes that are most valuable for your plan. If I may ask though, are you swimming in isk or do you just have a 'learner' jump clone parked in some station if you're using +5 implants? I'd not dare to leave station with all +5 implants :)

kind regards

I wasn't able to pickup a full set of +5's yet on my main, but I to agree the +5's are so worth it if your planning a year+ worth of training. the +4's are also semi cheap and give a rather decent time saving on some of the longer skills.

I have 4 chars and I just got +4s for everybody, took all my money too lol.

+5s, while nice... too expensive. If you got the money, go for it.

Errr.... I did a bad thing that we don't go into here, you can probably guess what it was but I've given up that sort of thing since then.

I did get podded once on my main with the +5 implants - after which I dropped out of the PVP corp I was in and got jump clones. Industrial v HAC didn't seem much of a fair fight to me...

By 'recommend' implants I meant EVEMon doesn't do that the same way it recommends learning skills with the handy link at the bottom of the page.

Last time I looked (a year ago) +5s were about 200 mill for a set - thats less than the price of a plex.

My standard is cybernetics to 1 immediately, +3 implants in all but charisma, then level 1 learners to 4 for everything but charisma and second tier to 3. I adjust from that as needed.

580 seconds till servers up, hope my probes are recoverable.
