I have a MSDN license, so I can get whatever OS I need. Currently on Windows 7 RC x64. I have the ISOs for XP x64 and Vista SP1, and the SP2 downloaded and ready to install from flash drives.

Core i7 920

GTX 285

12GB DDR3

Which OS does keyclone run better on? This computer will be doing nothing but multiboxing, what I bought it for, so IDC what OS it uses as long as it is boxing like a champ :D

I would try it myself, but I am lazy and I'm sure others have tried this already. I searched and found 2 threads, but they both devolved into a crapshoot about XP driver quality questions and other garbage.

keyclone runs on all of them OK, so it's down to personal preference. tbh you might as well stick with what you have currently installed

Vista 64 is what I run... I'd stay with Win 7 if I was you and I could (i.e. beta did not run out).

I'd avoid XP 64 if I were you, I tried it and had nothing but problems with it, Vista 64 works much better and, importantly, is much more stable (not often I say that about Vista compared to XP), couldn't say about Windows 7, which won't run on my comp, but if that works I'd stick with it personally.

I'd just like to say as well, I'm so envious of that machine of yours I could explode. :cursing:

The Win 7 release candidate is supposed to be generally available on May 5, and work for a year. I'd go with that.

But, between XP and Vista, if you are planning to use multiple monitors, you should go Vista. It has better native support for it, whereas with XP you would need desktop spanning software to be able to move 3D windows between them without a performance hit. Just disable Aero ;) Other than that, not much different. I use XP64 for my multiboxing personally and have had 0 problems.

Server 2008. It has the same drivers as Vista (for the most part) and uses less RAM idle. I know with that much, it shouldn't be an issue, but you'd be suprised.

Check out this site to find out a ton of info. http://www.win2008workstation.com/wordpress/

I use Vista64 and am 100% happy with it.

Much happier than I was with XP64 which - for me - was very unstable. I can't tell you why some people have good and others bad experience with XP64, but it probably comes down to the quality of the drivers for the various bits of hardware we each have. That's one area where Vista64 wins hands-down - it's much more widely supported.

The one potential benefit of XP64 is that there is anecdotal evidence that it uses less memory, but that's a non-issue with the amount of memory you have to play with.

I've no direct experience with boxing under Windows 7, but there are reported problems (http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=20299) with Keyclone under the 64 bit edition.

I've been 5 boxing (1 pc) on Windows 7 64bit beta and love it. Great performance and stability while 5 boxing on 1 PC. Make sure you use the latest Nvidia drivers Windows 7 for the best performance. I use two wow folders which have the data, cache, interface, and account folders symlinked. Dalaran is the only place I lag which is normal for everyone in the game. I will be downloading and installing the Release Candidate of Win 7 64bit this weekend. I also have it setup in a dual boot configuration with Vista 32bit just so I can still run old games, apps, etc. that don't run well on 64bit. (only ran into a couple apps so far that don't like 64bit)

My system specs are as follows:
Intel Q9650 3ghz quad core cpu
GeForce 8800 GTX
8 gigs DDR2 ram
Windows 7 64 bit beta
