Transferring settings, addons, configs from an XP to a Vista install

Title mostly says it all. I dumly recall that Vista handles some file save locations differently than XP.

I have WoW installed and up to date on my Vista enabled laptop, but have yet to transfer over all my addon settings and that sort of thing.

Now I'm headed out of town, I don't have all my chocolates collected yet, and I'm thinking about getting things consistent again.

So I hooked up a thumb drive this morning and copied my Interface and WTF folders.

Where do they go? Or am I misremembering the thing about Vista keeping stuff in different save locs compared to XP?

I use Vista 32 on one pc, vista 64 on another, and XP on a third.

I never installed warcraft on the vista boxes, just copied my entire wow folder to c:\wow\ and manually set up a shortcut to the launcher. That way, all my computers have their wow folders set up exactly the same. Only issue is that when I download new patches on XP, the files go to the c:\wow folder, but on the vista machines, they go to c:\users\Public\Public Documents\Blizzard ... something like that.

If you did an install of warcraft, then the WTF folder is a little tricky. Here's some help on finding it:

If you have the World of Warcraft folder open (Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > World of Warcraft),
click on "Compatiblity Files", and the Virtual Store folder for World of Warcraft will open:

C:\Users\<name>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\World of Warcraft


If you don't see one of the files/directories,
1. You need to look on the menu bar and select, Organize.
2. in the drop down then select folder and search options.
3. In the window that opens left click on the view tab
4. place a bullet int he option for "show hidden files and folders"
5. Click on apply at the bottom of the window and then you should be able to see the appdata folder

I did do a WoW install on the laptop when I first got it, just tied it into the wireless router, started it up, and ignored it for a few hours while I raided on the main box.

Will keep this handy for later.
