Four weeks ago I quit WoW cold turkey. Deleted all my folders and canceled the subscription on the accounts.

I'm studying for my Cisco CCNP and CCIE and I really need all the study time I can get. Currently I come home from work at around midnight-2am and then study until 6 am. Wake up at noonish go to work at 2, rinse and repeat ad infinitum.

With WoW, I was only getting in 2-3 hours of study a night and while that sounds good it definitely isn't enough for me to pass the tests in my time frame.

Quitting wasn't bad at all for the first two weeks, but the third week is a killer. I came close to relapsing because I kept playing around with talent calculators and seeing other people at work play WoW. Now in my fourth week, I have no desire to play. What's weird is I actually enjoy studying

I actually enjoy studying
Shame you can't multibox it. You'd get through it all so much quicker and be able to get back to wow :)

At the end of the day a game should not get in the way of anything in real life.
With the schedule you have something had to give.

The great thing is, you can always come back when you have your qualifications and have more time.

Good luck with your certification.

I did something similar whilst studying from my MSCE. I left my authenticator with one of my Friends and told him not to let me have it back until I had Passed all the Exams ;(

my reasoning is that RL qualifications are far more important than in game achievements :P

scary how you don't really miss the game after a week or so, but then my work commitments mean that I can't often play every day anyway.

I'm glad I got lucky. I'm a network administrator who has 2 years of school but I was too dumb to take the certifications at the end of each class lol. But lucky for me my boss at my current job went to the same school and knows alot of the same people in the field in my area so he overlooked me only having my A+ (LOL) and nothing else. So now im making great money at an awsome job and I only have my A+

Enndoh, if you're at least interested in trying to get some more certifications, you may want to look at Security+ for your next step. If you can get into a bootcamp or study session for it, it's really not that hard or intense. We had a 90% pass rate for our bootcamp (at least on the first test attempt), and quite a few people were not even techies. It's not just a chump class, you actually learn a lot of good information too.

I had heard that the test is being updated at the end of this month (or next month), as the current one is a bit dated.

Thanks, I'll keep it in mind, but for now this job is secure and my salary is that of someone with certs so I'm going to hold off ;)
