[WoW] Great guide for gearing up your pally for Heroics in WotLK

I decided to change my pally from ret to prot for my melee group and wanted to gear him up as quickly as possible.

I found the following guide on maintankadin to be very helpful.

I already had a nice shield and 1 or 2 epic items with defense from Naxx 10 but was able to go from just over 400 defense to 540 in about 2 days.
Overall spend was less than 1000 gold, as a lot of the crafted stuff was cheap. I also had enough rep with some of the factions to get some rep gear.

I did have to gem for defense (I think it's autumn's glow or something like that) and also had to put a defense enchant on my chest, and a titanweave enchant on my cloak to get to 540.

I know a heck of a lot of us already have heroic capable pallys, but thought I'd post this for those with respeccing paladins or fresh 80's.

Ya thanks for this, Ive been really lazy, my 80 pally is powerleveling my toons specced prot but in his epic holy gear lol.

That guide is missing a lot of boe epics that you can easily find on the AH now that you couldn't when it was written.

A list of BOE epics would definitely be nice for later on or for those for whom gold is plentiful, but my gold reserves have run low for now. :)

There is a ton of good info on that site. This list has the new Ulduar gear, some of it is BOE. What I have seen in the AH on my server so far is going for 3k (e.g., combustion bracers - cloth DPS) to 5k (e.g., Cloak of the Iron Council), depending on the piece.

The trick IMO was to make damn sure you get that +defense mace from the Ragemane's Flipper quest in Zul'Drak while leveling. Also, they don't list it but Bulwark of the Tormented God is another Zul'Drak quest reward that's +32 defense. ;)
