View Full Version : How hard is it to swap in a new character into the mix?

I love my combo, but also enjoy the idea of being able to mix and match. I know a few have done it on here so looking for a little more info.

How big of a hassle is it to switch out a character or two in your combo and mentor down to level them up fast? How do you deal with the quests, etc you skipped? AA seems like an obvious issue.

OT - not trying to Thread jack honest... just want your opinion of EQ2 since you switched.

I played EQ2 on release for about 2 weeks and got bored fast. Something worth returning to?

I two boxed a Druid - Tank

It's WAY different now than when it was released
But, it depends on what you like to do, and what you consider fun I guess.

Not having as big of a following as WoW makes for much fewer informational sites, mods and addons.
Macros work, but work differently. And your group make-up can make or break you. 1 tank and 5 shaman won't get you anywhere. ;)

First set to 80 took "7 days 23 hours 28 minutes", a few hours less since I've been doing the daily solo shard run {which can be done in a group...just can't auto-follow in shade form}.

I swapped out the mystic and conjuror for a defiler and warlock. Because my RAF is not optimal {C&D >A, E&F>B} I mentored A>C and everyone else to D. My XP bonuses look like this

Toon C
"You are earning 5% bonus XP due to being mentored.
You are earning 10% bonus XP due to being mentored by a friend.
You are earning a 200% adventure XP bonus for helping a friend.
You are earning a 10% adventure XP bonus for having max level characters. {1 80 from the old team}"

Toon D
"You are earning 12% bonus XP due to being mentored by a friend. {3 non-friends}
You are earning a 200% adventure XP bonus for helping a friend.
You are earning a 10% adventure XP bonus for having max level characters. {1 80 from the old team}"

All other toons
"You are earning 50% less XP due to being mentored.
You are earning a 200% adventure XP bonus for helping a friend.
You are earning a 10% adventure XP bonus for having max level characters. {this is on the current 80 toons}"

1-71. 1d 13 hours played.

We just went straight through dungeons, so our AA on the new toons sucks, but we aren't sweating it. They're at 51 AA, but once we hit level 69, we went to Kunark to start them through the quests there. They should pick up a bit of AA through playing catchup on all the quests our main team already did and we'll see where they're at once they actually hit 80. We don't intend to do much for dungeons until we start working on thier fabled weapons. On the other hand, the 80s we mentored all got 15-20 AAs in the process of leveling up the newbies, from new dungeons and converted Adventure XP.

Edit - Yes, EQ2 is a TOTALLY different game than it was on release. We played at release and hated it. We played again about a year after release and still didn't like it. We came back maybe a year later and played for about a year or so. Now we're back again and really enjoying ourselves.

Awesome and pretty much what the posters above me said. If EQ is your style of gameplay then you'll definitely love how it works now.

I'm grinding away in dungeons having a blast, there's so much to do I feel when the day is over for me... like right now. That I didn't get to play enough eq2 today. I'm really in that honeymoon phase that I probably won't ever get with WoW again.
It's definitely a lot of fun and I hope it lasts, the lvl 80 end game looks promising from a multiboxing perspective. I truly enjoy playing multiple classes instead of the exact same to be effective.
